Klaus's POV
"You don't want to say anything," Mara said in anger. "This just proves me right. You're a psychopath! Taking away my fangs like that without proof that I killed my own fucking sister. You are a crazy man."
"Alright, can we just chill out for a second?" I sighed, walking to the window to look out as I started to think of the past. What had I done wrong? "First off, let's start over. I am not a monster. I didn't order for your fangs to be pulled out. You have the wrong guy. If I wanted you dead, you'd be dead."
She scoffed as I leaned against the window.
"Is something funny?" I asked as she shrugged.
"I don't know if you know this but your men had me not by force. I am stronger than you'd think. So don't think I'm some weak woman you can talk to without…"
"Let's not get sidetracked," I interrupted her. "I still stand on my word that I'm not the one behind the loss of your fangs. I give you my word that those who did this will be punished. But you should not think that I did this to you."
"Yeah, whatever," she rolled her eyes. "When do I get home? It's not like I care about your words anyway."
Now that made me mad. Who did she think she was talking to in that manner? I was stronger than most vampires around. I could take down armies without breaking a sweat.
I was faster and stronger than most vampires. She might be special, but to me she was just another target.
I would have wanted us to go a few rounds in the ring but right now, she was powerless.
I didn't want to think about a future that could have been possible. Right now, I was looking at the woman who had killed her sister even when she was wanting it.
"You're not saying anything," she said, bringing me back to the present.
"What was that?"
"When do I get to go home? You can't keep me here forever."
Yes. The big question of when I was to release her. She was still my prisoner. Why would I let her go away?
I still had my questions to ask her.
I decided that letting her go was too easy and a terrible thing to do for a woman who had murdered her sister.
We might be mates but there was no way the universe would have me mate with a murderer. What joke was the universe playing?
"Guards!" I yelled as the doors flung open which had two guards stepping in with a bow.
"What are you doing?" She asked, looking at the guards, fear returning to her eyes.
"Letting you go," my smile was maniacal and the terrifying look in her eyes said it all. "Isn't that what you wanted?"
"Home! You maniac! I want to go home."
"Last time I checked, you're my prisoner. You're a murderer who killed someone and not just anyone, my mate. That makes you a murderer. The most wanted one in the county. Maybe you should have thought of that before taking out your sister's soul from her body."
"How many times do I have to tell you that I didn't kill my sister! It's almost like you're daft like your men."
"Hey!" I yelled. "I will not be disrespected in front of my men. Do you hear me?!"
She sighed, mumbled a few things but remained quiet after that.
"Now, back to what I was saying," I continued. "I will have you thrown into the silver cage if you refuse to do what I ask."
I waved for my men to leave the room but I knew they would stand outside until my next order.
"And what would that be?"
"Since you killed your sister, taking away my bride and the woman who I would have wanted by my side, someone would have to take over her role."
She has her eyes widened at the sound of that before shaking her head in horror.
"No," she said. "No. That is not happening."
"You don't even know what I want to say yet," I chuckled.
"I know you kings. You replace your brides like they mean nothing to you but guess what. That is not going to be me."
"You will be my bride Mara, whether you want it or not."
"I refuse."
"Just know that if you refuse my request, you will be thrown into the silver cage. I will make sure you are fed once a month and the windows opened every day with a little allowance for you to stay away from the sun. I don't care if you are affected by the sun or not, I will make your life a living hell so you have no choice but to do as I say."
"I have a right to say no. I can't be your bride. You already had my sister."
"You killed my bride!" I growled. "Why are you making me repeat myself? You're on the verge of having your head removed if you keep pissing me off."
"But having me as your bride is you taking this way too far. You can't force me to be your bride. I will not accept it. And I am not the one who killed my sister. At least hear me out."
Now I was losing my mind. I paced around the room, my heart beating faster than I would have liked. This vampire was testing my patience. If this continued, I would have no choice but to have her killed.
She might be my mate but if she kept this up I would toss her in a dungeon and throw away the keys.
"You will marry me," I said to her, leaning over to meet her eyes in close proximity. "Or you will have to sleep in the deepest part of the dungeon. This is your last chance to rethink your choices."
