"It's bleeding!" Yael shouted, his eyes wide open, looking the wound on his right hand. Specifically, on his fingers. The potatoes were slippery, and he tried his best to hold onto them. Hence, the outcome.
Still, he didn't know that peelers were actually sharp?!
"I literally handed you a peeler to peel the potatoes, how on earth did you even peel your skin?"
Solanne dropped everything she was doing and immediately pulled Yael to the sink to wash his wound. As the water runs through his skin, her eyes were searching for a napkin.
"Can you be nice? I'm bleeding" Yael frowned at the same time the corners of his eyes were red.
"I can see that," From the looks of it, he seemed to be trying to hold back his tears.
"What do you mean nice?" She rolled her eyes. "I am panicking with you! Dammit! Your precious skin!" Solanne clicked her tongue before grabbing some tissue from the upper shelf.
Yael quietly shut his mouth; his eyes stared at Solanne who was busy trying to stop the bleeding. She pressed on the wound with some napkin. "Hold it for a while," She said, turning her back. "Have you seen any band aids here in the kitchen?"
Yael quietly sat down on the kitchen stool, his eyes following her every action. Luckly, she found the first aid kit on the bottom right of the kitchen shelf. She then pulled the chair beside Yael and begun dressing his wound.
"Does it still hurt?"
Yael shook his head. "No."
Solanne heaved a sigh of relief. "That's good." Wrapping the band aid, she looked up. Their faces were just a few inches away, Yael withdrew his head, his eyes widen in surprised but Solanne doesn't seem to mind.
"Do you still want to learn?"
"Of course I do." Yaels ears subtly turned pink.
Solanne laughed. Her worried expression earlier was nowhere to be found. "Fine. But you can help me out next time. Just watch for now. Watching is learning too."
Just as she was about to resume her cooking, her phone ring. Saw the name of the caller before she answered the call.
'Annoying lil bro.'
Brother, he concluded. She has a little brother.
Solanne grabbed her phone and walked to the living room to answer the phone. There was an excited smile on her face, as her eyes glinted with mischievousness. She seemed to like teasing her brother from the looks of it.
Yael withdrew his gaze looking at his wound.
'What was that all about?' he asked himself. He felt like he wasn't himself just now. Or was he just imagining things?
After mulling things over for a while, he dismissed it and tossing it out of his brain as he waited for Solanne's call to be over. Just like what she said, Yael watched him cook, taking notes of her instructions as if he was a college professor.
Right, Yael subconsciously realized that she would make a great teacher with how she kept things interesting, and her smile never leaving her face.
--
Right after finishing dinner, Solanne volunteered to wash the dishes since Yael can't do that at the moment. Back before, after finishing their meals, they would often call it the night and head towards their own rooms to do whatever they want.
But this time, it was different. Yael stayed at the living room. He opened the door to let the cold air in. While Solanne that just finished washing the dishes, went and prepare some cold tea. She put some ice on the pitcher and put it on the coffee table on the living room.
"Want some?" She offered.
"Sweet tea?"
"Yep."
"Thanks. Grab some cup for me too."
"No problem."
Solanne went back to the kitchen grabbed two glass and coaters before heading back to the living room. Yael poured the sweet cold tea to the two glasses. Solanne grabbed a pillow and settled on the sofa and begun scrolling her on phone.
On the other hand, Yael was busy watching some anime. He's finishing the first season of Black Clover. Specifically, he's on episode 43.
They weren't talking, but the air around them look so comfortable. That if someone can see them right now, they would assume that they're friends for how many years now.
--
Solanne attention was drawn to the loud explosion sound coming from the TV. She was in the middle of reading a webnovel, when she got curious. She looked at the time, it's 11:11.
"Wish for something."
"Huh?" Yael asked, confused, and curious as his whole attention was on what he was watching.
Solanne showed the time on her phone and said, "Make a wish, it's 11:11"
Yael grinned. "Childish."
"What wrong with that?" Solanne countered. She comfortably laid on the sofa, her feet almost touching Yael's thigh. "We're humans. Can't we hope a little?"
Yael leaned on the sofa, his smug smile was still on his face. "It's just a useless hope to begin with. It's not even proven to be true why waste the time?"
Solanne stared at him in disgust. He raised his brow, "what?"
"It's just wrong. Haven't you had any of those miracle moments?"
"Like what? Having super powers?" He sarcastically added.
"You know what, I've notice but you're pretty realistic huh? Why can't you dream a little? How boring is your life without any fantasy? Any thrill? Live a little!"
"Just saying" Yael looked back at the screen. "But that's how you get mental problems."
Solanne laughed. "I'm pretty much insane myself. Thank you very much, I am aware. Besides," Solanne looked at the TV. "The anime you're watching is based on hope and not giving up. The whole anime revolves on each of the characters dreams."
"It's an anime, Solanne!" Yael heavily emphasized. Solanne looked at him meaningfully hearing her name came out of his lips for the second time.
"Everything can be possible as long as its with the authors plot, choices, and wants."
Solanne grinned at him. She challenged. "Then, why not think of this life as that one too, huh?"
"You're not making any sense."
"There's God, Yael. The very specific author you are asking about. People say that we are here because of fate. Our own purpose! So, why not think of it like that?"
"It's not making any sense. Elaborate?"
"Think of us here in this world like characters in an anime, novel or any movie. We are made to hope, to feel emotions like happiness, anger, fear and loneliness. Such emotions were made for us to experience the world, isn't it?"
Solanne's eyes glinted with an emotion Yael can't even name. He stared at her in daze.
"Many people told me that life is not a movie but I beg to differ. Life is a movie. It's full of sadness, of anger, of competition, desperation, and all of the negative emotions, yet at the same time, when the rain comes, and you're just on your bed, watching the little drizzle of rain, your bed comfortable and you can smell the delicious dinner that your mother had cooked, suddenly, you feel like you can live again."
"Those things are depicted in movies and those projects you have accomplished. We aren't just aware because there's no camera that's watching our every move."
Solanne smiled mysteriously and confidently. "And we aren't aware because we are too harsh on ourselves."
"What a mind," Yael chuckled. "Has your hope saved you yet?"
Solanne was the one to laugh this time. "No. not yet. I'm still waiting for it."
"Aren't you tired?"
Solanne shrugged. Eyes on the TV. "It's not like I'm going to lose anything. Besides, hope is the only thing I have left. It's too tragic to even let go of it."
Yael glanced at her before looking back at the TV. "We should do some podcast."
Solanne laugh out loud. "Right. Perhaps, let's record our conversations in the future. What do you think? I'll probably get rich if I told the whole world that my co star if the very own, Yael Lee in flesh."
"We have to sign some contract for that."
"Pass. Have trauma."
Yael grinned. "What a waste."
"Just a question," Solanne added. Her excitement pumping up on her body. "Can I ask a question?"
Yael looked at her weirdly. "Sure, why not?"
"I've saw some of your movies you have a stared some characters having super powers. Hey, what does it feel like seeing yourself in Television having those super powers? Do you feel invincible? Amazing? God like?"
"…."
Yael burst out laughing.
Solanne's cheeks turned pink.
"Eh? You are seriously asking that?"
"Come on! I'm curious!"
Yael grinned back. He squared his shoulders. "You're curious on what I think about those?"
Solanne nodded.
"I'm amazing."
"Huh?"
"That's what I think" Yael grins never leaving his lips. "I am an amazing person to pull up those stunts and even act like I really have some superpowers."
"Conceited much?" Solanne regretted asking the question.
"You're the one who asked." Solanne rolled her eyes. And continued on watching the TV.
"Do you think, we'll dream of something again?"
A sigh. "Don't know. Don't want to think about it."
"Should we stay up late?"
"Perhaps?"
"Should I make coffee?"
"Yes."
Solanne stood up and headed towards the kitchen to brew some coffee.
