Chapter 4 - Chapter Four : First Mission (Mock)

"Your first mission Cronos, is to deal with some local terrorist. They are threatening to blow-up one of the branches of the Apex Bank. Now the police ought to handle this situation, but Apex owner pulled some connections and now you're going there. Consider this a mock mission for what the real deal is all about."

Cronos nodded his head as Andrew passed him a black collar that had a lock attached to it.

"That's our insurance Cronos. It's not optional. You would need it on your neck all the time. The only time when it won't be necessary is when you're either in the hole or six feet below."

He wore it slowly as it clamped shut and came on with a green light showing at the center.

"Good boy" Queen purred as she walked around him, briefly inspecting it around his thick neck.

"Be a bad boy and it turns red " she said.

"And what happens when it's red?" He asked with a slight smile.

"Your head would be blown off."

"Oohoohoo" his voice imitating Santa.

A minute and some seconds later, he was ready as he heard a voice speaking to him through his ear buds.

"A chopper is ready for you at the base airstrip. How you choose to complete the mission is at your own discretion Cronos, but no civilians must be harmed,...understood ?"

"Yes ma!"

"Good."

The buzzing sound of the helicopter blades and the wind hitting him in the face made him sigh with a nostalgic feeling. You can take the man out of the battlefield but not the battlefield out of the man. He knew he was broken beyond repair or redemption. He loved the battlefield, he cherished every moment of it, every moment in it. It just wasn't his fault, as that was how he was created, that was what he was created for.

He waited as the pilot got into a rhythm as the helicopter hovered above the building. He stared at the glass dome shaped of the bank as his gray eyes turned blue, running some calculations. Suddenly it turned a light shade of red as he began to search for heat signatures. He counted about thirty in number, as he noticed at least about twelve were holding unto something, weapons.

'It's just a local bank robbery, what could go wrong ' he thought as he signaled to the pilot that he was ready.

Immediately he jumped out of the bird and pulled his knees upwards towards his chest, his boots crashing against the glass dome. The glass structure held for some seconds before breaking apart into small shards, raining down in the bank hall as everyone stared in awe at who had just dared to enter the bank.

He landed with a loud bang as his foot stomped the ground creating a shock wave that made those standing in the hall lose their stance. Underneath his feet, a crater was formed as the cracks spread across the hall.

His boots made crunching sounds as he stared at the scared faces looking up at him while laying on their bellies.

"Hmm"

He sighed as one of the hostile yelled at him

"Get down on your knees mate, now!"

He grunted as he cracked his knuckles and slowly pulled out a dagger from his camo strap.

"You have got two options, surrender or I would make you do so". He said, while flipping the dagger in the air.

"Ha ha ha.. you're one old man and there are ten of us."

"Thanks for the number, now I know I would be needing ten seconds to do this." He said as he immediately threw the dagger at the closest one.

"Do what..." The words stucked in the man's throat as the sharp blade strucked his Adam apple. He fell to his knees, blood gurgling out of his mouth as his hands flailed, trying to hold unto his bleeding neck.

"Fire!"

There was a burst of laser beams as the walls got incinerated and the stench of burning material filled the hall.

Bang!

He slammed his heel on the head of the closest, as the bulky male head smashed into his upper torso, his neck disappearing into his chest immediately.

Blood spurted everywhere like a fountain, as three heads rolled on the floor, their eyes wide opened in shock.

"Five seconds more" He muttered under his breathe as he disappeared in front of them and appeared beside one of them, his fist embedded in the side of his head.

"Fire!"

The others opened fire on him as he used the dead body of their comrade as shield for a brief moment, while he firing back at them with their weapons. He discarded the body as it went up in flames, the smell of burning flesh permeating the environment. He held unto the last one who had stopped the laser shots with his metallic hand, which wasn't looking good after taking some damages. He tore the limb like he was ripping out the leg of a thanksgiving turkey and forced down the robotic arm down his throat. He slammed the end violently as it bursted through his throat, down his diaphragm, some wires poking out of the punctured holes in his neck.

He let the body fall from his grasp as he took a deep breathe and looked at the broken ceiling, staring at the sun.

"It's been a while...it been a long while." He laughed out loud as his eyes flashed red for some seconds before turning back to grey.

He turned to see the bank manager in his expensive but dirtied suit and a small bruise on his pale fat cheek walking towards him cautiously with hands raised up. His pretty secretary behind him, in her short skirt and I was once white blouse. Their eyes held fear as he knew they must have seen the execution style, the bank robbers faced. He stared at them one more time before walking to the center of the hall, from whence he had dropped down from.

"Mission completed. " He said as a long thick rope fell from the sky and he instantly grasped unto if.

"Good job soldier...meet me at base in ten." Queen spoke as he responded immediately before turning off the mic.

"Yes ma."
