Cronos screamed as he jumped right out of bed. Sweats formed on his brows as his mattress was completely drenched. He turned to the box by the bed head and tapped it smooth screen.
"3:45...shit."
'Wheels up by 5' Queen order resonating in his head.
He fell back on the bed, cursing out loud at the fact that his eyes were now clear. Sleeping hasn't been easy. Heck! he just woke up from a deep eternal slumber yesterday, falling into one now was a hard task.
The nightmare he just had was nerve stimulating as the past came rushing back through his dreams. it was there to haunt him, to remind him of his inability to protect the one that he had loved. But here he was, alive after twenty years of been sentenced to eternal slumber, only to find out that the one responsible for Clara death was still alive. He didn't want to believe it. He didn't need to believe it cause he had done the damage himself, he had blasted him into obliteration.
He refuted their words until now...now that he had these nightmares. And only one thing convinced him that just maybe the man who took it all from him was still alive, It was the sentence he woke up screaming out loud.
Not been able to sleep, he got out of bed and immediately got into position.
"One" He said softly as he began a simple push up that lasted till morning.
"Cronos, got a good night rest ?" Queen asked as he picked up two big black boxes and dropped it on the table infront of her.
"Could have been better." He said as he watched Andrew walk inside the hall. Behind him were three other folks, all suited in military camos, but not just your regular one. It looked like that of special forces or a special squad design as it had the emblem of earth as it flag on both shoulders. It also looked similar to outfits meant to be worn in space or other planets, and certainly not planet earth.
"What do we have here ?" Cronos asked as the two men and one woman walked in with their gear boxes.
"A team, I'm putting together a team ." Queen replied as she held unto a physical document, going through its details.
"I work alone." Cronos replied sharply as he gave the trio one last uninterested look before focusing on Queen.
"Queen, I said..."
"I work alone...I heard you " she interrupted him as she paused her reading and stared at him right in the eyes before continuing speaking.
"This isn't the Bionic Ten era, when you could get what you wanted. Besides, you're in no position to question orders or decisions, is that clear soldier ?"
He stared her right in the eyes as he slowly replied
"Yes ma'am,."
"Good. Now everyone gather round, let's begin your briefing. "
She said as the three military men walked over to her, as well as her assistant Andrew.
Cronos didn't look displeased or annoyed, he just stared at the displayed hologram with an interesting look. The hologram showed a massive planet about twice the size of earth.
"Damn this is some big ass planet. How big is it ?" One of the men asked as he chuckled at the screen while rubbing his beard. Meanwhile, Queen wasn't taking any of it as she stared at him with an arched eyebrow wondering what he was on.
"Focus" She said as she zoomed in the map.
"Let me begin by saying that this mission you would be on isn't like any other missions you have ever been on. But first and foremost let's start with the introduction."
She pointed at Cronos who stood like a mannequin and just staring into space.
"This is Cronos, I'm pretty sure you must have heard of him as words have been going around about who he's, a terrorist and what he has done."
"He's sure hell a terrorist " the guy with the full beard commented as his teammates bursted into laughter.
"Decorum!." Queen said as she continued.
"Cronos is going to be the leader of this special squad, and Cronos, this is Micheal, the asshole with the full beard. Over there's Jason, the only black member of your team, so ensure he doesn't die first. " She said as they all chuckled and Jason gave the middle finger to his mates. Also the only chick of this team is Caramel, ironic since she's Asian with a trace of American down her genealogy. White American to be precise. And last but not the least is Shin, a true Japanese warrior who would most likely be your friend since he rarely speaks. Cronos meet your new team members...and yes, you're free to check them out after the briefing." She said to which Cronos simply nodded and paid attention to her next words.
"Now your squad instructions are to help the main Earth forces to clear any unbreakable hitches or anyone or group that would pose a considerable threat to their advances in conquering the planet. As a team, you would also conduct espionage missions, key assassinations and special attacks on key military installments of the Pruitians. Let's just say you're the boogeyman of the military. If there's any mission they can't complete, you would be called in."
She paused for a moment, letting her words sink in.
"Now you know what that means right ? That every mission is a death sentence." She said as the facial expressions on the squad hardened.
"I like that " Cronos said with a smirk on his face.
"Any questions ?" Queen asked as she stared at them, one after the other. Caramel had her hands up as her superior officer nodded.
"Sorry to say but you sounded racist earlier on ma'am " She said as Queen smiled before quickly replying her.
"Nothing to be sorry about Caramel, but racism isn't a hot topic like before, since we now have other distinct races to discriminate. "
"Alright since no further questions, you all are dismissed." Queen said as her assistant quickly brought out some physical documents that needed her attention.
"Team on me" He quickly said as he began to walk out of the briefing room.
"Departure is by six tomorrow, don't be late. " Queen said as the new formed squad left the room.
Once outside the building, Jason broke the silence as he asked what was on everyone's mind.
"where are we headed to captain ?"
"A Pub" Cronos replied as the group all yelled sounds of approval except Kim who had a blank expression, but still kept on walking with them.
