Victor stands up and walks to the doors but before even reaching the door handle the doors swing open, standing in front of the door is a woman barely older than Victor with a red dress, brown long hair, and glasses, holding a stack of papers in her hand, she takes a step back, standing before him was his personal assistant and a granddaughter of one of the elders Agatha Harz
"Ah, princ Vic... I mean Emperor Aratus you startled me"
"Hello Miss Harz, how is it that my assistant is running around the halls with documents in hand instead of being at the coronation feast"
"I am sorry sir but now that you have become an emperor I have more work than ever, which reminds me that there are some things that require your attention like food shortage from the southwest for unknown reasons and a small rebellion in the kingdom near the border, the council of elders ordered not to send reinforcements as the only kingdom with sufficient military might that is close enough is protecting our boarders with the empire of Harktu but thankfully, for now, the king is doing well suppressing it with what soldiers he has but we should keep an eye on the situation"
"Those old sly snow goats" he mutters, "thank you Miss Harz I will see to it immediately, you should go rest"
Says Victor, seeing him upset, Agatha swiftly steps away from the door as Victor storms off to see the elders, when he arrives at the doors he overhears the elders speaking while reaching for the door handle
"We should have done it before the coronation but because of the complication we have missed our opportunity yet again, this is getting tiring now we ha..."
But before the elder could finish his sentence upset Victor barged into the room and shouted
"What do you think you're doing leaving my citizens to die, scared of a threat that will never come, I am sending troops from the borders to stop the rebellion, any objections?"
"Emperor Aratus? what do you think barging in here without any prior notice, have you no manners, and are you referring to the rebellion at the east border, we cannot allow you to weaken the borders any longer because of your naivety, we do as is best for the empire so please go enjoy yourself on the feast and leave the security of the empire in our experienced hands"
Says one of the elders, but Victor, stubborn by nature is not going to back down easily and starts to furiously bicker with the council for hours, In the end, Victor manages to persuade the elders, furious with him at this point to send at least enough soldiers to protect the civilians and Victor leaves the room satisfied with the results.
Then, as it was quite late in the evening Victor decided to head to his bedroom but while walking through the decorated halls with red carpets and paintings of his predecessors he saw Miss Harz kneeling on the red carpet picking up stacks of documents off the floor
"Hello again Miss Harz, will you tell me what is the meaning of this?"
Agatha turned around in shock and blurted out "I am so sorry Mister Aratus as you can see I fell and my documents got scattered on the floor, but I will clean it this instant"
"I wasn't asking about that, what are you still doing with the documents in hand this late into the evening, I thought I ordered you to go rest, and are you hurt anywhere" replied Victor with a concerned expression while kneeling to help pick up the papers
"N.no I am alright, and as I said before there is far too much work to be done for me to be resting now," said Agatha confidently but Victor could see her exhaustion clear as day
"Nonsense" shouted Victor "You are my personal assistant and as such I cannot have you bedridden out of exhaustion, so please go get some rest"
Agatha sighed "If you insist then I will return the documents and go rest," said Agatha with a hint of relief hidden behind annoyance in her voice
After Victor handed her the last document she stood up and said "Then if you excuse me I will take my leave, goodnight sir"
And with that, Agatha left for her room. Then Victor stood up as well and with a sigh he went to his bedroom to get some sleep.
