"Alright, now punch straight." Gildarts instructed.
Bam!
"Again."
Bam!
Cana was punching a tree stump, trying to master Crush Magic. As she punched, she thought back to a few days ago.
After the kidnapping incident, Gildarts and the Master returned. Gildarts had cried a lot, hugging her tightly—until Cornelia beat him up for being overly enthusiastic. After the celebrations were over, Cana approached her father.
"Dad, can you teach me Crush Magic?"
"Why do you want to learn that Cupcake? Isn't your magic related to cards?"
Cana looked down for a moment and clenched her fists.
"I know that, Dad, but this time I don't want to be powerless when I don't have my cards."
Gildarts smiled slightly. Looks like my kid is growing up.
"And I don't want to put Karna in danger again because of me. I want to be strong enough to protect him from danger!"
She declared this with spirit.
And just like that, Gildarts' smile vanished. Calm down, Gildarts, he thought to himself. I'll get another chance later to kill him. If I act now, there'll be evidence left behind.
"Dad?"
"Yes, dear?"
Cana narrowed her eyes.
"Are you planning to do something to Karna?"
"No! Of course not!"
Gildarts hurriedly tried to cover up his thoughts. Damn it! Why is she so good at sensing things like this?
"If you do anything to him, I'll get angry, alright?" Cana warned
"..."
"Did you hear me, Dad?"
"Yes, dear." Gildarts deflated as he replied.
"Well then, can you teach me?" Cana asked again.
"It'll be hard, but don't worry! I'll make sure you become a strong Crush Magic user!"
He grinned. Right now, Cana was undergoing strength training courtesy of Gildarts, making her body strong enough to handle Crush Magic.
After a few hours, Cornelia arrived with food.
"Cana, come on, it's time to eat."
By that time, Cana was lying on the ground, completely exhausted from training all day. With her stamina drained, she slowly got up and went to eat.
"Eat for now. I'll bring the weights for more training."
Gildarts instructed and then went back into their home.
"So, Cana, I have a question." Cornelia asked a question.
"Yeah, Mom?" she replied while eating.
"Do you think Karna will like you when you get muscles like your father?"
Cana suddenly froze.
"What do you mean, muscles?"
"Well, your father got muscles by doing this training, so I figured you would too."
"Wait, what? Noooooooo!"
Realization hit Cana, and a horrifying image flashed through her mind.
Cornelia just smiled, amused by the little problems her child was facing at such a young age. She only hoped Cana would have more time to enjoy her youth.
Karna's POV
[Quest Completed]
Today, I finally completed my latest quest: making sure Ultear followed the path of Time Magic. Since she didn't go to Grimoire Heart, the only way to ensure she went down this path was to give her the Arc of Time manual I got as a reward.
I had tried to learn it myself, but I didn't have a strong affinity for Time Magic, so investing time in it would have been a waste.
Getting Ultear to find it was easy.
Being Ur's daughter, she had a natural affinity for Ice Magic, but that wasn't her strongest affinity. So, while learning Ice Magic from Ur alongside Gray, she often went through the guild library to see if she connected with other forms of magic.
A well-placed Arc of Time manual ensured she found it. The library was filled with so many spells and books that even Gramps didn't know every spell in it, so there was little chance anyone would doubt its origin.
And the fact that it was Lost Magic? Hahahahaha. The first thing that came to most of their minds was that it would make handling the collateral damage caused by guild members much easier.
I just hope she doesn't go crazy with it, because if Fairy Tail wizards are left unchecked, their collateral damage can reach the town's yearly budget!
Now, let's check my reward from the system.
[Reward – Sarpastra]
Wow, it's been a long time since I got an arrow from the system, and it looks like this one comes from Indian mythology—specifically, Karna's.
[Sarpastra – The Snake Arrow creates a powerful, venomous snake that paralyzes the victim while binding them. The anti-toxin requires strong magic and time to take effect, or the victim must be bitten by another Sarpastra to counteract the poison.]
Man, this will be useful. I can already imagine all the ways I can torment my enemies with this.
As I arrived at the guild, I saw a girl with tattered clothes talking to the Guild Master. She had scarlet hair and an eyepatch.
So, Erza Scarlet—the Titania of Fairy Tail—has arrived, huh? Looks like fate must have substituted someone else for Ultear.
Surprisingly, the system didn't issue any mission regarding this.
[The system was only created to create favorable conditions and save a few more people. It has no intention of meddling with every scenario. The system is also designed to give the host more freedom.]
Huh. I guess that's a good thing.
Well, I suppose I'll officially meet Erza in a few days. She needs the bonding experience she gets from Gray. Hopefully, he won't do even dumber things this time around just because he has less trauma.
Hmm, I should start preparing for the opening of the Eclipse Gate soon. There are a few people I need to save in that incident.
I headed to the backyard to train more for the future.
A/N- hope you like the rewrite and every 100 powerstone gets extra chapter of Jason.
