Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Ice Wizard 2 (rewrite)

It took some time and an explanation from Ur to resolve all the confusion everyone had. After some time, Ultear woke up as well. At first, she was a bit rebellious, but after being hugged by Ur for a few minutes, she broke down.

All the boys and Gildarts looked at each other and collectively decided to leave the house to give the girls some privacy. Cana also signaled that she would handle it.

Once outside, I began to think about the mission reward, Arc of Time. This was a magic that Ultear was supposed to learn to save her mother by turning back time in the canon timeline, which ultimately failed. However, since I altered the timeline, she won't need to seek out Hades. I guess the system granted this magic so that she doesn't become weaker in this timeline.

Then there was the matter of the two demons planning to eliminate all humans. According to the system, I have two days to deal with them, so I should plan ahead. I began to make my move.

I asked the kids about it and found out that Deliora and the other demon had been wreaking havoc for a few days. Gray had tried to go and hunt Deliora, but Ur had placed a freezing rune to prevent him from leaving the compound. Huh, I guess this world is different—I've never heard of runes being used by ice wizards in canon.

After some time, Cana came out and told us that they had reached an understanding. However, it seemed like Ur was angry at the facility that had held Ultear and experimented on her. Because of her arrival here, the canon timeline had changed, so I'll have to destroy the facility somehow. Though, it seems Ur will handle it.

"So, Gildarts," Ur began, "you must be here for the demons, right?"

"Yeah. Do you have any info?"

"Well, since there were two of them, I was planning on staying back until they left. But since you're here, and if those kids near you with an absurd amount of magic can fight, we might stand a chance."

"Hmm, well, they can fight. But what are the demons' abilities?"

"Well, Deliora is pure physical strength, and the other is a magma-rock type."

"Then I guess we know how to divide them. Karna will go with you, and I'll go with Cana."

"Wait! I want to go too!" Gray suddenly said, with Lyon behind him seeming to agree.

"You're both not ready yet," Ur said softly.

"But he's the same age as us! Why can't we go with him?"

"That's because—"

Ur was about to give advice that I was sure Gray would ignore, so I decided to speed up the process.

"Well, if you can beat me, you can come," I declared.

Gildarts smirked, Cana's eyes lit up with excitement, and Lyon looked down on me with disdain.

"All right then, I will!" Man, that's what you call hot-blooded Fairy Tail material. Didn't even think it through before rushing at me.

I had increased my close-combat training with Gildarts and the older guild members, so I didn't even need to materialize my bow. I simply grabbed his fist and threw him behind me.

He didn't stop, though, and kept jabbing at me. I easily sidestepped him. A boon of practicing archery is increased eyesight and the ability to predict targets. It wasn't some magical ability, just skills I had perfected through training.

Man, he's light. Does he really think he can fight Deliora with this level of strength? I threw him back again, and he fell into the snow.

"Stop dodging and fight back!" he shouted in frustration.

Then suddenly, he started using ice magic and summoned a hammer that came at me. I rolled away, summoned my bow and a blunt arrow while dodging, and quickly targeted his head due to the close distance.

The arrow hit his head, and he lost orientation for a few seconds, stumbling just enough for me to tackle him to the ground. I pointed a blunt arrow directly at his head.

"I win," I said.

"I can take it," he replied angrily.

"I usually use sharpened arrows, dude," I replied.

He stopped struggling, looking shocked as he realized that the first shot could have killed him. I stood up, and so did he, with a dejected look on his face as he walked back to the backyard.

"Good work, kid," Gildarts said, patting my back.

"Thank you for that," Ur said suddenly. "If you hadn't done that, he wouldn't have listened."

"Well, I'm a Fairy Tail wizard," I replied. "Handling hotheads is a daily thing for me."

Cana came over, congratulating me with big eyes and a smile. Lyon, on the other hand, gave me a sharp look before following Gray, likely realizing he couldn't beat me either.

"All right then," Gildarts said suddenly. "Tomorrow we'll split into two teams.

Cana and I will go after the volcanic rock demon, and Karna and Ur will take on Deliora."

"Okay then," Ur smiled and then looked at me. "I'll make sure to take care of you, kid." She ruffled my hair.

After a few hours, we had dinner. Everyone was in a different mood. Ultear clung tightly to Ur, while Gray and Lyon sat across from us.

First, Ultear thanked us for saving her and bringing her to her mother, and Ur also expressed her gratitude. Ultear looked shy and a bit cute while doing it, though for some reason, I felt like Cana was glaring at me when I thought about it.

Well, anyway, I can't believe this same cute kid becomes a mass-genocide maniac for Zeref in the future. Looks like I'll have to save Meredy too. If she's in Grimoire Heart without Ultear, I'm not sure she'll survive.

After eating, everyone went to sleep. Tomorrow, we go demon hunting.

A/N-hope you like the rewrite and every 100 powerstone gets extra chapter of Jason.
