I look at the perished soul blankly before sitting down on the ground, my right paw still holding the spear he passed onto me. Of all things I learn about this world, Hanzo's backstory and the shinobi war is not one of them.
I can't help but feel sad about Hanzo. Going into a war, losing his love ones, stuck in this place while waiting for god knows how long. It's not something I wish on anyone, even if they're my enemies.
I hope that shinobi finally able to get the rest and reunion he deserves. I could only wish him luck on the afterlife.
I look at the spear before looking around it. How did he actually retracts it? Is there a button around? Or do I need to do something? Apply pressure on a certain area? Nope, it's sturdy as fuck. Twisting its handle-!?
*Shrik!*
I blink as the spear I hold has turn into a short blade. I look at the blade before swing it a few times. It's on a heavy sides, but it's a good weapon. Then again, I treat it as a short blade when it's actually a spear.
I look at the shrine before I decided to clean the mess I accidentally caused during the battle. I pick up each broken stone daggers and fix the small shrine. I can't help but notices the picture of a beautiful black haired woman holding a young white haired girl and black haired boy somehow lying on the ground.
I pick it up and notices that the picture is folded. I unfolded it and saw a man with white hair smiling next to them. This must be Hanzo. I place the picture back on the shrine and properly clean it up. I grab some apples and place it on the shrine before properly pray.
I got up and left before I noticing several monsters start to swarm the shrine. I can't help but growls at them. This is a shrine for a great warrior and his family, and there's no way am I going to let these monsters ruined it.
I extend the spear before taking a stance. The first monster charging at me is a black wolf, which I simply stabs it through its mouth mercilessly. Several goblins start to charge at me but I swing my spear and decapitate each of them in one swing.
I then have to face a giant wasp and I simply slice it in half. Oh je-! Oh go-! I mean, oh my go-oodness! This spear is as insane as my dagger! Wait, can I-!?
I saw passed by boar and I immediately try to stabs its shadow. Much to my glee, it works! But, I can see that it has a weaker effect as it can still move, albeit barely. I grab my dagger and simply cuts the boar down.
Just because I keep getting my ass clapped by Hanzo doesn't mean my training is useless. I can efficiently kill these monsters with almost no difficulties.
I watch as the boar bleeds out to death before I pull the spear off the shadow. I retract it and put it on my belt. I look around and groaned. Great job monsters, now you just madr a whole mess after I properly clean this place.
----------------------------------------------------------
It took me a while but I finally manage to clean the area up. And much to my chagrin, few monsters popped up whenever I try to clean. Killing them only makes it harder and I did just that. Cue mental facepalm.
I can't help but wonder what exactly attract these monsters into the area so I check around, and to my shock, there's a monster core hidden under the shrine.
In some rare cases, or if based on your pure luck stats alone, the monsters you kill will have a monster core in their body. It shaped like a pearl and has different color for different monsters.
Upon usage, the core will break and it'll enchant your weapon. If you give it to an advanced class blacksmith, the effect will be increased based on their skills.
And for my time of hunting down monsters, I never got one. I never understand how did I not get one despite killing so many monsters in more than a year. Did my luck was that sucks!?
I look at the core and I can't help but gape at it. This core belongs to a dragon, based on the color and the size of a goddamn basketball! Holy shit, what's with my luck!?
Wait, I remember that weird ai system they add on the game where if the users constantly got lucky, either from their luck stats or luck boost item, they will get a penalty where their luck stats becomes negative 1 and shit hits the fan for the duration of the game. And it also works in reverse.
I was so scared about that I end up never increasing my luck stats beyond the number of my level. Is this how I start having good luck these few moments? Because I constantly gets bad lucks?
....nah, there's no way it works on this world. I really should stop comparing the game's mechanic with the real world. It's just luck, pure and simple.
I know monster cores will attract monsters as it will help them to grow if they consumes it, and it'll be bad if they consumes the dragon monster core, so I grab the monster core and walks away from the shrine.
And just like that, I can see every monsters in the surrounding stop focus on the shrine and now on me. Good news is that Hanzo and his family can now properly saved and their shrine will remain untouch.
The bad news? I have to deal with these monsters after the monster core. I grab and extend my spear to kill an incoming monster. It helps as an intimidation as they all backed away. Good, because I am in no mood of dealing with these bastards.
