Chapter 20 - Arc 1 - Interlude

A blonde haired girl can be seen sitting on a chair while looking at the window. She has a beautiful heterochromia green and yellow eyes. She sigh while watching from the window.

"My lady." The girl perked up and turn around to see a black haired man wearing a silver and gold knight armor with a sword attach on his leather belt. "It's time."

"Oh, cool!" The girl said in excitement before getting up and extend her arm. Suddenly, a broom shaped like a magic staff with a red and blue crystal ore attach on the end fly towards her hand. She grin before walk out of the room alongside the knight. "I'm start to get bored of waiting."

"This isn't something you can rush, my lady. Your journey require a proper preparation." The knight said as the girl rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, but why do they not prepare it yesterday?" The girl askes as the knight simply gave her a dry stare.

"My lady, you only mention you plan on this journey this morning." This caused the girl stiffen as her expression turns sheepish. "You told your family of your desire to leave on a journey 5 hours ago. None of us got a time to fully prepare for your journey."

"W-well....." The girl flustered while twiddling her fingers as her broom float next to her.

"Also, we need to prepare bodyguards for you, my lady." The knight stated as the girl huffed.

"I was hoping that you'll be the only one who joined me." The girl stated. "It's weird since you alone were enough to deal most of the threats. And I ain't weak either."

"Of course, my lady." The knight said. "You are one of a kind genius that has been exist in the Celesterra Kingdom. Not to mention, you are the first person in this kingdom chosen to be the new candidate of the god, blessed with the 12 labour required to ascend as one."

".....yeah." The girl mutter while looking away.

"...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have mention that." The knight said as the girl looks back at the knight.

"It's okay. I may have not like it, but I accept my role." The girl mutter while holding her broom, swinging around lightly while making sure she didn't knock anything down.

".....lady Elizabeth-!" The knight was cut off by the girl using her broom to touch his lips.

"Didn't I told you to just call me Liza, Sir Eric?" The girl, Liza said while staring at the knight.

"My apologies, but my status doesn't allow me to address you in such informal manner." The knight, Eric, said as the girl place down her broom and pouted.

"You could at least be a little loose. You're so stiff that you look like a plain whiteboard." The word pierced the knight's heart metaphorically as he lower his head.

"P-plain....whiteboard...." Eric gripped his chest while mutter to himself in shock.

"Come on, Eric. Let's prepare for our adventures!" Liza said excitedly before rushing through the hall.

"S-slow down, milady!" Eric try to stop her but she was too fast. He could only put his palm on his face while sighing.

"I know how much she loves adventure, but she didn't need to rush everything." Eric said while rush to catch up with her.

Eric thinks of the time when he first meet Liza 5 years ago, specifically at the day where he was accepted as the member of the royal guard. She was just 7 and Eric was taken aback at how Liza didn't act like a princess, but he didn't complain as she didn't treat him differently.

He was there when she was first start to learn about her magic and when her talents shine. He was there to saw her casting her first spell, he was there to saw her train her magic, and he was there to saw her chosen as the successor of the god.

And in every moment he was there, he saw how she has to deal with every pressure from all the expectations of the kingdom. Because of everything, she was ended up becoming as the heir of the throne, something that she didn't want.

Liza loves adventure, she prefers to go outside the kingdom, but her status and role made her a huge target. She felt like she was trapped in a cage because her parents were reluctant to let her out.

"I still can't believe that she blatantly lied about her true intention to the king and queen." Eric mutters as he manages to catch up with Liza. He notices a young woman with green hair and yellow eyes hugs Liza before letting go and notices Eric.

"Sir Eric." The woman said with a smile.

"Lady Celestia." Eric sais while bowing.

"I told you to to simply call me Tia." The woman said as Liza snorted.

"Don't bother, big sis. Eric will never drop the honorifics no matter what. I've tried for years, and no luck." Liza comment as Tia laugh.

"Well, can't hurt to try." Tia said before looking at Eric. "Please keep my little sister safe. I know how big of a target she is to everyone."

"Don't worry, my lady. I will." Eric said as Tia nodded before placing both of her hands on Eric's shoulder and gave a serious look

"And remember one crucial detail, Eric." Tia said as Eric gulped. "Don't let her cook."

"O-of course, Lady Celestia...." Eric said as his face turns pale, flashes of memories played in his head.

"What are you guys talking about?" Liza asked obliviously.

"Just a warning to always keep you safe, Liza." Tia said while patting Eric's shoulder.

"Y-yeah...." Eric reply shakily as Liza giggled.

"No need to worry, sis. I trust Sir Eric with my life." Liza proclaims as Eric felt touched. "And I also can handle myself."

"I'm your big sis, and I will always be worry." Tia said while patting Liza's hair.

"I know." Liza said while grin widely. "Now, see you sis."

"Of course. I'll see you with the news of 'peacement treaty'." Tia said while winking as Liza giggled.

"I was being serious." Liza said as Tia laugh.

"Of course, but I wonder how much detours you'll take." Liza flushed while putting on her witch's hat to cover her face while Eric simply smile in amusement.
