Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 - Preparation

It's been a year since I got here, and I was a bit anxious. I wordlessly sharpen the edge of a stick before dropping it and sigh. I'll be honest to myself, but I ain't expecting myself to survive for this long.

I look around at my camp and saw how it change from a normal field filled with herbs into a camping site. I'll be honest to myself but I'm getting tired to see all of this.

I really want to get out of here, but sadly, I was sent to an area where a silver tusk boar resides. It really is hard since it always lurking around the area.

And not to mention, even if I manage to get out of god knows where am I, I was too weak to leave this place. I bet that if I get out back when after I meet the boar, I'll encounter humans and will kill me in sight.

Yeah, no way am I gonna escape unprepared.

I went to grab few woods for myself and walk into a perfect place to set a trap. If I remember correctly, Silver Tusk Boar loves eating a rare monster like the Nature Deer and Unicorn.

It doesn't have to be them, but to get them, I need a creature with a similar rarity as them. Which is gonna be difficult since this forest doesn't seems to spawn a new rare monster like them ever since I killed them.

Out of nowhere, my ears and nose manage to catch a weird scent and noise from my left. I look at my left side and narrow my eyes, curious of what I'm gonna encounter.

Much to my surprise, a white coated wolf walks out of the bush and snarls at me. Hold up, isn't that a Lunar Wolf? A special type of wolf that evolves during the full moon? I remember how rare it was back then just to encounter one due to their evolution has a low rate of success.

Okay, seriously, what's with my weird luck? First, I got beaten by silver tusked boar, then got swarmed by giant wasps, then meeting a dead samurai and almost got killed, followed up with meeting a nature deer and unicorn, now this!??!

I yelped as the wolf try to pounce me, which I manage to dodge. I drop the items I carry before pulling my stone dagger to hit it. But, much to my surprise, the wolf catch it with its fang and didn't let go.

I was a bit surprise at the bite force as its fangs literally went through the rock. My weapon may not be a high quality, but a rock is a rock. It isn't something you can bit down like biting a food.

Oh, right, fantasy world.....

I yelped as the wolf flip me by simply swinging its head. I manage to regain my footing as I saw the wolf spits the dagger out of its mouth.

I pull a new dagger, silently taking a mental note of not letting it to bit the dagger. The wolf snarls again and tries to pounces me, but I manage to roll away from the attack. I use my dagger to try to wound him, but it manage to jump out of the way.

The wolf snarls before it starts to howl. Shit, that's how he call for backup! I gotta kill him before it arrive! I immediately went to charge towards him, but my ears pick up another sound.

I stop myself and jump back as two wolf comes out from the side, trying but failed to tackle me. Crap, to think its pack were nearby when it calls for backup.

I cautiously grab my other dagger, the one made of metal before taking an attacking stance. Come on now, Darren. Focus, you've been training to do this for a year now.

"Got....biggerrr fishee.....to fry....." I mutter quietly. One swift slash on their heads or necks will be good. The white one snarls as the other two wolf start to charge at me befoee jumping and try to pounce me.

Big mistake.

I took my chance to swing both of my daggers right at their necks, cutting both of their head at the same time. I can see my stone dagger was immediately shattered while the metal one remain intact. I drop my stone dagger before charging at the stunned lunar wolf.

*Swish!*

All it took is a swift slice on the neck and it's game over.

Despite being a rare monster, it still has wolf's main weakness, which is a fragile body. And even if it has a durable body, I doubt it can do anything against a dagger that can cut unicorn's horn like a hot knife through a butter.

I sigh as I get rid of the blood from the dagger. I didn't want the dagger ruined because of the blood, so I made sure to clean it before I place it back on my belt. I look at the wolf and can't help but grin.

Despite the wolf being rare, its only valuable stuff are its fangs and sadly, it was too small to made a proper weapon. Unless if your weapon preference are throwing knives, that is.

....on second thought, I would love to have some throwing knives for emergencies.....

I pluck every fangs on this fucker's mouth and place it into my leather pouch. I look at the wolves' corpses before carrying all three of them to a place I can trap the boar with.

The boar loves to roam around the forest and I keep avoiding it because I can't fight it head on. Using traps might not be enough to beat it, but it'll definitely slows it down.

I place the wolves right at the spot where I want it to be before I grab my tools to set my traps. It took me a while, along with some trials and errors, but I finally manage to finish it.

I grab a bottle of poison before carefully pour it into the wolf's body. The poison might have a distinct scent, but because of the blood, I was barely able to smell it.

Now, we wait.
