Chapter 9 - Cute Doesn't Mean Safe

Xiaoyi quickly rolled over so that she could dodge the rampaging bunny. The bunnies left horn barely misses her as she grabs the sword and gets up.

'I don't want the bunny to die.' She thinks to herself while she looks at the cute bunny charging after her.

She starts running as fast as she can along the messed up road to continue her journey. As she is running past she sees a small borough, with 3 smaller horned bunnies that haven't grown their horns yet. They just have small bumps on both sides of their heads.

"Awww, it's their babies!" She said in a cute high pitch squeal and dropping her rapier to the ground.

'No wonder it was attacking me. I was too close to its children.' She thinks to herself as the baby bunnies start coming out.

"Come here I just want to…" She starts coaxing the bunnies with her arms out, before suddenly something slams into her right side.

'-2' appears in her pov this time.

"Ahhh! I'm sorry, I'm not evil. I promise!" She screams out while she falls to the floor.

Then she gets bombarded by even more bunnies. These baby bunnies don't do any damage at all leaving her unharmed by their attacks.

Pushing the small bunnies out of the way she tries to roll out of the way again but this time her backpack stops her from doing so resulting in her getting hit in her abdomen.

'-2'

"Ahhh!" She screams in the manliest voice she could muster

All of the baby bunnies immediately go into hiding, while the big probably mommy bunny backs off.

Xiaoyi is surprised they backed off. Maybe she is scarier than she thought. She gets up, dust herself off, and grabs her rapier to leave.

"I am never trusting a cute face again!" She pouts as she continues walking on her own.

As she walks she periodically checks her system screen to see if her health has gone up. To her surprise she was healing a lot faster than when she was cold and hurt in the crash. Her health has gone up 2 in the last couple of hours. She was now finally back at 20HP.

Though the journey wasn't smooth sailing. She ran into slimes that were about 1 foot squishy spheres. She ran into a few more bunnies. She even managed to spook off some small deer with very sharp looking antlers sprouting from the middle of their head.

There were birds almost always chirping as she walked through the forest. Most of them looked like they were from Earth but a few looked different.

'Wow this is my first time seeing a trace of civilization besides the road from Earth and the orcs.' She thought to herself while she looked at a sign.

"Land of Jarhoth. West 7 miles." She read outloud.

'That's where I came from. Maybe that was the Chiefs name?' She never did hear his name.

"Shavilock Town. South 2 miles. Wild forest. East 3 miles." She read.

"I guess I won't be going to the forest. It has a skull next to the name." She said while looking east nervously as if a monster would jump out.

There was a sign for north but nothing was written on it. So she has decided she will head south and make it there before night so she could get some food and sleep.

Along her way she started to hear clanking of metal as though some kind of metal monster was running in her direction. When she noticed it looked like a humanoid she immediately jumped out so she wouldn't look like a creep hiding behind bushes. As they walked past each other they both gave each other a small nod and went on their way.

She knew she was going to the right place. Unlike the forest that person didn't run or try attacking her immediately. She started skipping her way to the town.

Very soon saw walls that stretched to be 20 feet tall made of well cut stone. Down near the ground was an arch that was over 10 feet tall.

Two guards were stationed at the entrance and most people leaving would follow the path east or west but wouldn't go north to the sign post she was at. She saw a small line of 5 people and hopped into it.

Of all the people there none of them were human. There were 4 people with animal-like ears and tails and one that resembled a turtle.

The guards at the gate appeared to be the same as the other 4 people in the line.

'Guess I have to wait to enter the city. Oh no! I hope I don't have to pay an entry fee.' She worriedly checked her pockets for a couple blood ruined bills from her car accident.

She saw that some were able to enter and some had to pay a fee upon entering. Her eyes grew wider as it became her turn.

"Name?" A male guard asked. His armor was chainmail and he had a sword sheathed at his hip so she knew there would be no running past him.

"Another human?" The other male guard said.

"Oh shoot you are right! I almost thought she was an elf" The other guard said as he motioned for her to go through.

"There's a few of your kind in the first inn on the right." The guard continued.

"Thank you sir." Xiaoyi quickly replied and continued into the town.

While looking around she was amazed. This had to have been a small city, it had so many buildings.

Near the entrance gate were 10 different inns all with a wooden board displaying their name.

She saw orcs, "beastkin" like from the anime she's seen. Small lizard people and even a few other different animal types.

She slowly entered the inn expecting something like a western cowboy tavern, she was completely right.

Everything was made of wood and there were people drinking at a bar. When she entered everyone looked at her and all the chatter stopped.

"Aye, another of my kind. Come over here kiddo."

A middle aged asian man said while waving his arm over.

The chatter only continued once Xiaoyi continued walking.

There was a group of humans over where the asian man was with most of them being asian.

"Come on, tell us your name." The asian man asked.

"I'm Xiaoyi." She responded while grabbing an extra chair to join the table.

Most of the group was men but there were 3 other women in the group.

"My name is Duanmou. Now that we have 12 people like I said, let's have a meeting tomorrow around noon about what we know and let's go from there."

The others introduced themselves to her and ordered her some food.

She was surprised when she got food as she had expected to pay for it. She ate it and enjoyed it quite a bit. The flavors were very unique and more rich than what she ate at Tharla's place.

Xiaoyi sees that most of them are drinking and it reminds her of her dad. She then excuses herself for the day and heads to the inn labeled on the key she got.

When she entered the room it had a bed and a night stand. That is all.

'I really don't want to keep using outhouses with sandy paper as toilet paper' she cries inside.

'I'll just hold it forever. If I never go I won't ever have to wipe. I can do this!' She resolves herself to never go to the bathroom again before going to sleep.
