A day later, Jason found himself back at Ella's house. He had tirelessly searched the entire forest, hoping to find any sign that she had managed to escape the wolves. Despite scouring the entire pit and triggering every trap, he came up empty-handed. It was hard to believe. Sara had claimed to have witnessed the Vam fall into the pit, and when Jason used his heightened senses, he confirmed that it was indeed true. The issue was, when he leaped into the pit, there was no evidence of a crash or any scent of the Vam making contact with the ground. This puzzling fact drove him back to Ella's house; he felt lost and desperately needed something to reignite his hope. His spirit refused to rest, and he hadn't slept all night. He couldn't find peace until he discovered whether Ella was dead or alive.
Taking a deep breath, Jason tried to extract more clues from the fight that had taken place. His efforts paid off as he picked up the scent of Ella's dad and brother. They had engaged in a midair battle until her dad struck Badu down, causing him to crash into the basement. This was a place Jason hadn't discovered during their previous visit. Following the scent, he ventured into the basement, eventually stumbling upon a coffin adorned with gold lining. This was no ordinary coffin; it was a vamsage's coffin. Jason hurriedly grabbed it and attempted to open it. Despite its weight, he managed to pry it open, only to reveal the Vam they had attempted to kill on the day they met Ella – it was Badu. Clutching a knife in his hands, Badu's eyes were closed, and his hands were placed on his chest. As Jason approached, Badu abruptly opened his eyes and, with unnatural speed, thrust his blade straight into Jason's chest. Before Jason could react, the knife plunged deep into his heart.
Meanwhile, the wolf army was preparing to return home. Sara was overwhelmed with sadness and feeling more disheveled than ever. William had to depart first to notify the wolf queen of Jason's departure and deliver the letter that Jason entrusted to him. He urged Sara to gather her strength and composure, cautioning her that her mother wouldn't be pleased to see her in such a state. He also expressed concerns that her mother might take reckless actions, such as placing Jason at the top of the Wolf Assassin Kill List. With those words, William left.
Sara found herself emotionally and physically shaken, and, above all, the inner wolf spirit within her seemed to be draining the life out of her. She felt as though she was suffocating under the weight of it all.
The wolves had strategized to set out under the cover of night, utilizing their wolf speed to reach home before dawn. Sara was designated to lead them from the rear. As the time drew near, she was approached by Glover. He began to speak, "My princess, I am quite pleased that you are the one in command now. That so-called General was nothing but a..." His statement was cut short as Sara struck him directly in the groin and seized his jaw, forcing him to meet her gaze.
"Never, ever dare insult him again. The next time I hear anything from you, you will lose your head," she warned. After she released him, he gulped and fled like a startled mouse.
It was surprising that she defended Jason despite all he had said to her. She loved him, and that was the most bittersweet truth of her life. He was her one, the one who would never reciprocate her love.
But there was no need to worry anymore. She was going to end it all. During the run,she told the wolves to run ahead of her and warned them not to turn their heads. She then left to a hill far away from their direction. She climbed to the highest cliff. This was how it would all end. She took a deep breath ready to jump to her death. She heard a foot step at her back but no,she wouldn't let anyone stop her. She had to die, she had to.She leaped and fell slowly to her doom.
As the sun rose over the hills, the scene was breathtaking. The birds were chirping, and the lush greenery appeared to be celebrating the start of a new day. The sun's rays gently kissed the cheeks of a sleeping beauty, who happened to be Ella.
Ella awoke to find a man sitting on a rock in front of her. Her mind was foggy, and she couldn't comprehend how she had ended up here, why she wasn't dead, and who this man was. Struggling to focus, it took her a moment to clear her vision. Once she could see clearly, she laid eyes on the most peculiar individual she had ever encountered.
The man was elderly, with small eyes, a petite pointed nose, charming pink lips, a god-like jawline, and a smooth chin. His most distinctive feature was his beautiful, long, curly white hair extending into a beard. He resembled a character from an ancient fairytale, almost like a godfather figure. His name was Ricardo, and despite his appearance, he was far from an ordinary human.
Ella was taken aback as Ricardo calmly greeted her as "sleeping beauty" and mentioned that he had been waiting for her to wake for quite some time. His calm demeanor unnerved her, and she demanded to know who he was with a hint of menace in her voice.
Ricardo chuckled at her reaction, "Just because a stranger almost killed you doesn't mean every stranger is a badass assassin," he said. He then became serious, "And we both know this isn't the way to thank someone who saved you from death."
Ella was shocked by his words, "Wait a second, this old-looking human saved her from death," she thought. She then realized that she owed this man her life.
Ricardo, who was not only a wizard but also a mind reader, spoke, "Listen, you can thank me later, but right now, you need to go and fix a dilemma."
"What was this man talking about? What dilemma?" Ella asked.
"We need to save Jason from your very grumpy and psycho brother," Ricardo replied.
Ella was taken aback; Badu was alive, but why did Jason need saving from him?
