An annoying beeping sound made the boy stir.
Slowly a plain white room filled his vision. He looked around confused trying to figure out where he was.
He saw that he was in a hospital bed, then a blonde woman peacefully sleeping beside the bed.
Now his senses had returned to him fully but he was more confused than before.
'Aren't I supposed to be dead?'
He tried to lift his hand so that he could examine his body but then a sharp pain jolted all across his nerves that made him wince.
This was enough to wake the woman beside him.
As soon as she saw that Evian was awake she immediately pulled him into a bear hug.
"Thank goodness, I never thought you'd ever wake up!"
The hug caused Evian's body to explode in pain causing him to try to get out of Aunt Flore's powerful hug.
"Yeah, it's good to be back."
"Wait, how long have I been out for?"
Aunt Flore pulled back from her hug and with tearful eyes looked at Evian and said,
"You've been unconscious for nearly four months "
"Four months?!!!" Evian said,shocked.
Aunt Flore did not verbally respond but nodded her head while clasping her face and holding back torrential tears.
Ignoring the pain, Evian lifted his sleeve and saw that there were wounds on his arm but they had already healed and were now scars.
He tried to recall how those scars came to be but the moment he did he got a splitting headache as if there was someone or something preventing him from recalling it.
All he did remember was seeing Rory and his gang in a weird room and a black figure speaking to him but he couldn't make out what he was saying and apparently being placed on an altar of sorts heavily injured and bleeding.
All while this happening the pair do not see or hear two police officers walked into the hospital room. So when one of the officers greeted them Aunt Flore nearly launched herself from her seat.
"Oh my! Hello officers"
"I can see the boy's awake now. If it's not a problem do you mind if we ask him a few questions down at the station after he's discharged?"
"Is it about what happened to him?"
"Yes, we've been conducting an investigation into it and we're hoping to piece together our findings with what the boy may know"
"Oh... it's okay, anything to find out who did this and why."
"Alright ma'am, have a good day."
The officers turned and left the room.
"Umm... could you tell me what happened during the four months I was unconscious."
Aunt Flore nodded and recounted the events of those four months.
He found out that he was found in an alleyway by a passer-by, naked and bleeding profusely from every inch of his body, and taken to the hospital.
There his condition fluctuated as strange bright markings appeared all over his body as the doctors tried to extract the worm inside his brain after which he entered a four month long coma.
Classmates, teachers and well wishers came nearly everyday but that gradually reduced as time passed. Only Aunt Flore stayed by him all through.
After about two weeks he was discharged after doctors had examined him but he had to use crutches for at least a week as he tried to regain use of his legs.
When he arrived home he lay on his bed staring into the ceiling.
He remembered that he had to go to the station to speak to the officers and continued to stare at the ceiling. Then, all of a sudden he felt drowsy. He didn't try to fight it but simply closed his eyes as he drifted to sleep.
