Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

The interrogation room was nothing like in the movies for the most part.

The room had a one-way glass on one of the walls with a lone table at the centre with two tables on either side.

Evian sat there, foot tapping on the ground and fidgeting in the cold steel chair. It was very uncomfortable.

"Sorry for the wait," a young female officer walked in and sat on the other side of the table.

The moment she walked in, Evian couldn't take his eyes off her, practically pulling the chair back for her.

Her uniform was form-fitting, showing off every single curve. Her utility belt seemed to be held in place by her voluptuous hip rather than the buckle, swaying with every step she took.

But it was her face that caught his attention.

An almost symmetrical oval-shaped face, sky blue eyes, and full lips cropped with short black hair that gave her an androgynous look.

The dumb look on Evian's face was obvious to anyone who looked at him after all before him was the embodiment of everything he found beautiful in a woman.

"Glad to see that you can still make faces like that despite what happened to you."

"Oh...hmm.... sorry, " Evian said, looking at the steel table, blushing.

"It's fine... so about your incident... how much do you remember?"

"Umm... to be honest, not a lot it's all a little fuzzy."

"Alright, just tell me all you remember." The officer said, taking out a notepad and a pen.

Evian recounted what he remembered, and the officer noted down all he said.

"I think that's enough for today. You've given us a new angle to look at in this case, get home safe." The officer said, standing and stretching out her hand.

"Umm... yes, thank you officer," Evian said, shaking the officer's hand.

"You can call me Officer Chang,"

Laying on the bed, Evian could hear a strange humming sound and saw a faint orange pulsating light from the wall where he had placed his sword sheath. The sword sheath was beat up from time, but now an orange hexagram was pulsating with an orange hue.

Puzzled Evian walked to it to examine it. The moment he placed his hand on it, strange markings appeared all over his body, followed by a split second of blood-curdling pain.

"How pathetic! "

Evian frantically looked around the room, searching for the strange voice.

"Wh....who's there?" Evian asked in a scared voice.

"I am a being far exceeding this mortal plane. One people of this plane would refer to as a god. As such I am disappointed that you are the one to be my emissary."

Evian, being an avid reader of fantasy literature, took all this information easily.

"What do you mean emissary?"

"I will grant you part of my authority and you are to represent me in your world and eventually become my heir."

"Heir?"

"Yes, contrary to your conventional belief we 'gods' are not immortal. After a certain period, we do need to keep rejuvenating ourselves by transferring our essence to other living beings.

Unfortunately, you are the most suitable for the role but it is better than nothing. "

"Are there any conditions to receive this power?"

"There are none you have already received it it is up to you how you want to use it. Now don't disappoint me."

And now Evian's room had returned to its previous silence.

"Wait how do I.... arghh!!"

Information on how to use this power came flooded Evian's mind followed by a runic symbol seemingly engraved on his left hand.

This series of events seemed to light an ember in Evian. For the longest time, he had decided to get back at the world that had done nothing but deal him a bad hand. Now he finally had the power and he'd be damned if he didn't put it to good use.
