Once when I was a little boy, I lived happily
With my family, without a care at all~
Wait, wait, wait, this is not a musical...Why am I using a poem here?
Anywho...
In the small village of Telegraha,
Darwin Neilstack lived a carefree life with his mother and father, along with his little sister Diana, who was at the wee little age of 5.
His father worked as a part of the village guard while his mother took care of the little farm that they had, not more than 15 acres.
He used to spend his days relaxing after school(Yeah he was 13 by the way) and taking care of his little sister. He would sometimes help in the farm but he did not like grunt work as much.
Still, it was a fulfilling life, and like all stories that are as cliche as this one, you know that it was not about to last long.
A war broke out between the two kingdoms of Gartendiel and Falahari. All the villages and towns got pulled into it. As a part of the village guard, his dad had to fight in the war. So, after promising he would return after getting the mil- I mean...after fighting in the war, he set out on a trip to the capital city in Gartendiel, Eruka.
Darwin was instructed to hide in the underground bunker with his baby sister while their mother would harvest as many crops as she could before the war reached them. The other villagers did the same. If they did not harvest their crops they would be left with nothing.
Corruption was not a foreign concept there. Neither their lord, nor would the royal family, care about their tiny village if something were to happen to it. They would not care if the village and all the people in it were to turn to dust.
This was a mistake. The kingdom of Falahari anticipated this (Most probably because they would do it to). But they, oh hoh, they...they were a little smarter.
Just like how a weak foundation would lead to a building collapsing due to the slightest tremor, if those villages that supplied food and resources to the entire kingdom were to fall, the kingdom itself would be doomed.
While their army in the frontlines were fighting a losing battle, huge groups of Falahari bandits and warriors ravaged the villages all over the enemy kingdom.
It was an ambush and no one was prepared for it. Darwin rushed out of the bunker while leaving his sister safely in the bunker, behind the piles of food and clothes in there. He ran towards the fields where his mother should have been harvesting crops, only to see her surrounded by bandits and knights.
"AGH, AHH, NO! DARWIN! PLEASE GO AWAY! RUN! AGHHH"
He hated that day. That day was the worst day of his life. His mother was r*ped in front of him while two people held him down while laughing sadisticly amidst his screaming. The sick bastards didn't even kill him.
It would have been better if they did.
"NO! PLEASE! NOT IN FRONT OF MY SON! SPARE MY SON! PLEASE!"
Does desparate cries hurt him the most. What are you talking about mother? Look at what's happening to you! First understand your situation!
He did not say this out loud. He stopped screaming as well soon. His eyes were dead, souless. His head was drooping as they lifted him and tried to turn his face to look at his mother.
It did not work. He just closed his eyes, and prayed. Oh yeah, in that situation, he prayed to as many gods as he could, any god that could save them, any god that could get him out of this hell. His mind was screaming again and again, calling out repeatedly, taking any names from any kingdom that he knew.
Even if he didn't pray to that god, he prayed to them right then. It didn't matter if he knew nothing about them, as long as he knew their names.
'Anyone, please, just get me out of this hell, please, please...'
'Where are you! When will you save us? Please come quickly! We need your help!'
'When will this get ove-'
"Hey boys! Look what I found!"
Darwins eyes shot open when he heard crying. His sister... NO! THEY FOUND HER!
He started struggling again, even more violently, the voice in his head getting louder and he kept repeating the names of the gods and trying to find even more names from his memory.
The bandits dragged Diana across the floor, holding her hair.
"Hey, why don't we use one of them to break these people, I want to see their faces when they lose all hope hehehe..."
"Good idea! Who should we choose"
"Someone who would bring true despair to the others"
"NO! PLEASE! NO! I'LL DO ANYTHING! PLEASE SPARE MY DAUGHTER! PLEASE!"
"SHUT UP B*TCH"
"Too noisy!"
"Eeny meeny miny mo..."
"Ohh look, it landed on the girl!"
"Hahahaha, what a shame! I was hoping for it too land on the boy"
"NOOOO! LEAVE DIANA ALONE!"
"Oh hoh~ Look at the boy screaming! Looks like this was the correct decision. It will bring them true despair hehehe..."
They dragged her and lifted her off the ground with her hair, she cried harder from the pain, fear and the scene in front of her.
"NOOO! DIANA!"
"BIG BROTHER!"
"MY DAUGHTER!!"
She reached out her arm to him, trying to grab hold of her rock, her steady boat, who had always been by her side when she needed him. Darwin reached out his hand to try and grab his sister's hand, but it was too late.
The bandit who was holding her used his sword to seperate her body and head. Her body crumpled to the ground, still twitching. The only thing left in the bandits hand was the severed head of his little sister, her eyes, which had now lost their light, still staring at him.
He heard her voice from that head. A soul chilling voice.
'Big brother~ Why didn't you protect me?'
"No, Diana, I'm sorry!"
'Why~ I counted on you~'
"No! NO! THIS ISN'T REAL! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!"
"Hey what's going on with this guy?"
"Did he go crazy or sumthin? Heheheh"
"Yes! I love seeing that despair!"
'Why...WHY DO WE EVEN PRAY TO YOU GODS?! YOU ALLOW US TO SUFFER LIKE THIS?! I...I...prayed to you...so much...my mother-'
As soon as he thought of this he looked to his mother. She had it worse. Her eyes had lost all colour. 'No...no no no no no'
"Ohhhh, looks like this one also died after seeing her daughter die"
"We can't enjoy her anymore? What a shame."
"Well this had the opposite effect"
Darwin lost it.
