As time passed, not a long time, mind you, just two weeks, his legs had finally healed enough to walk. His days while he was sitting with the bullied tree were uneventful, but he got to eat grass and see some interesting things that allowed him to realise that this forest was completely insane, so it wasn't that bad.
It flipped his worldview, spanked it's ass, drowned it in bathwater, fried it with lemon and garlic and then served it to whatever mentally unstable demon incarnate they could find. Ok.....maybe he was exaggerating, maybe it was something normal in this world, he wasn't an expert in this world, he wouldn't know.
He still took some time adjusting to the sight of the fearsome king of the animals, the lion, getting kicked in the head multiple times in the head by a breakdancing cow spinning on it's head. He didn't know about other places, but here, the animals he thought to be strong were at the bottom of the food chain.
It wasn't as if they had weakened, they were still equally strong to the carnivores of his previous life....but that was exactly the problem. They were still as strong as ordinary animals, while those freaky farm animals became the bane of farmers everwhere.
He wasn't complaining, the hilarious sight of a wolf whimpering and running away with its tail between its legs from a clucking chicken became a great source of entertainment for him. He also found out that he could use the carnivores as targets for his training instead of the elite bosses, the farm animals.
He also noticed that his recovery seemed to be getting faster and faster as time passed, which surprised him, but he did not really want to delve deeper into the matter. It took too many braincells that he just did not have.
He slowly used the tree he bullied to carve and replenish his weapons that he had lost till now.
He would take a lot of care for them this time as he did not want to keep carving, it took too much time, valuable time that could have been spent training!
After recovering completely, he started training, shifting weapons every 20 seconds or so, trying out the different combinations he had thought of, discarding a few and keeping a few.
He followed the 20 second rule, he would switch between weapons every 20 seconds. With this, he wouldn't be so unpredictable that he had no idea what he was doing, which might result in death, but he would also remain unpredictable. The best of both worlds!
He continued practising with his weapons, once he achieved basic mastery in one weapon, he would move on to the next. It was not easy, even for the basics, bruises appeared on his body like.....customers in a famous shopping mall (I tried my best).
After learning how to wield a weapon he would seek animals to bruise as well, but completely avoided the farm animals. Even after defeating a lion with his dual swords, he felt nothing, no joy at all.
The accomplishment felt empty after seeing a lion getting tortured by a cow. A dancing cow, he still could not believe how casual he was being about that.
He wasn't able to destroy a lion just because of his weapon training though. It seemed that when he breathes while practising his movements, his body would passively fill with some sort of vitality that increased his strength. He did not know what it was, but it was a pleasant surprise.
He still had to eat grass during the first few months of practising his weapons. Once he started getting the hang of all of his weapons, then and only then could he enjoy actual meat.
The meat also allowed him to build some muscle and allowed him to experience another bout of growth.
As he continued practising, he felt that the vitality that he absorbed brought him closer and closer to exploding. He did not explode though, it dispersed by itself after weapon practice.
He was scared he was about to explode for a while there, but he was glad that he was not going to explode anytime soon. That would be unfortunate.
He walked through the trees, trying to find a nice carnivore to fight, when he spotted a wolf lying under a tree about 20 metres away. The wolf seemed familiar for some reason, but before he could think of where he saw it before, it stood up and started walking towards him. He had been discovered! How??
The wolf drew closer, and he prepared himself for battle. Just as he was about to rush forward and attack, it disappeared. After a few seconds, the hair at the back of his neck rose.
He immediately started to sweat. 'Not good'. He dropped to the ground and looked up and saw it's underbelly.
'When did it get there!?'
Alas, he didn't know the answer to that and could only guess. He got back on his feet and pulled out his batons before running toward it. He swung his baton at its face. It didn't react for some reason.
'Yes, be paralysed with fear in my presence!'
He swore as he bashed its face, dead center, but it just dissipated.
'What? No creature would die like that!' He looked around. It had to come from somewhere, and when it did, he would be ready.
It suddenly appeared from his left, but it seemed to have come from his shadow??
"What!?!?"
It formed a giant claw made of darkness and plunged it deep into his shoulder. "Holy shit!"
He spun on his heel, his batons already gone and a greatsword in their place. Swinging his greatsword with him, his contorted face slowly stretched into a grin, making him look like a demon.
The wolf, who was celebrating till then, noticed that something seemed to be wrong. The poor thing did not expect a that it was fighting a madman.
The boy continued his swing and hit the wolf with the momentum of a train, hitting its head and killing it instantly.
The wolf flew off his shoulder and brought a huge piece of it with it, but was sadly dead and couldn't savour the taste of the human. It can at least rest in peace knowing that it caused a great deal of distress to its enemy.
'OH GOD THAT IS PAINFUL!'
