He sat near the campfire, munching on fried wolf, his thoughts wandering to the battle and what he could have done better. The wolf had somehow sensed his presence, and that was not good. That was a weakness that he had to correct in some way or else he would be completely open to sneak attacks and the like.
He would be advertising a human delicacy to the entire forest. He did not want to do that.
*Rustle*
He heard a sound, he turned his head towards it but he was too late. The talon of the chicken was already hitting his face.
He flew like a rocket ship through the air, his grey hair the only noticeable feature, until he hit a tree.
"Urk....yeah I definitely broke some bones....Shit!"
The kung-fu chicken did not stop at all. It dove towards him again, ready to destroy his face so much that his mother would not recognize him.
I mean, it would not be a bad thing if his mother did not recognize him, but it was no time to be thinking about his previous life now. He rolled out of the way.
The chicken kicked the tree and broke it in half. The tree leaned towards the chicken and the boy prayed that the tree would crush the chicken, but nothing is that easy in this world. The chicken raised its other leg and kicked the falling tree to pieces.
"Timburrrrrr!"
...Okay maybe drawing attention to himself wasn't the best idea.
The chicken turned to him and kicked up dust as it sprinted towards him. He pulled out his scythe and swung it to try and cut the martial chicken, but the chicken just grabbed the blade and used its talons to crush the weapon. So....looks like wood isn't its weakness.
He threw the handle at the chicken and pulled two woooden swords. He was going to duel wield his blades and cut this stupid chicken into pieces, then he would roast it and munch on chicken wings....Mmmm, chicken wings....
He swung the swords, one from each side. He was sure he would hit it, but he did not expect the chicken to do a split and grab both his swords, crushing them as well.
He had to find a new way to kill this thing. He took out his bonk stick and ran towards the chicken, putting all his force behind the attack. The chicken raised its leg, ready for the attack, but he let go right before landing the attack.
Switching to his daggers and using the bonk stick as a distraction, he plunged his dagger into the chicken's neck, or at least, he thought he did.
The chicken dissolved into thin air.
'Oh not this again!'
Thankfully the chicken did not seem to eager to use underhanded tactics like the wolf, hiding inside his shadow. It was a battle junkie, just like him and had no brains, also like him, wonderful!
It appeared behind him and kicked at the boy's back. He slid to the right to avoid him, but he was not able to completely avoid the attack in the end. He was propelled forward and hit another tree, this time it knocked out all the breath in his lungs and cracked a few rib bones.
The chicken did not have any mercy as it continued kicking him, over and over and over again. It suddenly jumped above him, and he could only watch in horror as it somersaulted int the air, its foot landing directly on the top of his head.
[Kung Fu Crackhead!]
*Crack*
A sickening crunch was heard. He stumbled back and forth, feeling dizzy and seeing two of everything.
It then proceeded to kick him all over the place, trying to break all his bones and then gobble him up like soup.
He knew what he had to do, he had never been up against impossible odds before. Even during the fight with the boar he still had hope that he would be able to win, but here he knew that winning was impossible.
'RUN!'
He turned around and started stumbling and running from the kung-fu chicken, stll dizzy from the kick.
The chicken was not going to give up on its soup that easily. It ran towards him, effortlessly using trees as footholds to propel itself forward.
'Ah, there is nothing more horrifying than a chicken who can fly and is chasing you down with a vengence'
He continued to struggle against his nightmare, throwing all his weapons for a chance to slow the chicken down. After running out of weapons, he started plucking stones from the ground and plucking branches from trees, using them as fodder.
Even when everything in this forest was out to get him, at least the trees would always be there for him to bully. At his lowest point, he could only rely on the trees to vent his frustrations.
"AHH, GODAMMIT...Owwwww!"
He fell on his face and flipped a few times before wiping the ground with his face. Why did he flip? He was sure that no vine would make him flip while he fell.
He turned back and he saw a rhino. He had flipped over a rhino. It stared at him. He stared at it.
'How dafuk did I even make it past this huge thing?'
He should not have been able to scale the rhino. The kung fu chicken was nowhere to be seen.
'What? Why did it leave?'
He slowly stood up and looked behind the rhino. It was gone. It had been scared off by the rhino. He looked at the rhino. The rhino looked at him. After a few seconds, he realized that the rhino made no attempt to kill him and he relaxed.
"Ohhhh.....I probably shouldn't have done that...mmm..sleepy time...."
The adrenaline was the only thing keeping him up. Once that was gone, there was nothing left to fuel his body. He succumbed to his injuries and crumpled to the ground.
The rhino continued chewing for a while, looking with interest at the weird creature it had never seen, before slowly making its way towards the sleeping human
