Chapter 9 - The Glutton has Had His Fill

He continued to spectate the men fighting the frog. The sword he swung at the frog just slid off, the slime on the frog helped a lot. It was suprising the men did not think of that, but he didn't blame them.

The frog opened its mouth and then, you guessed it, gobbled the other man up as well. Only one man was left, and he was quivering like a leaf in the wind.

That's when the boy up the tree felt that his entire life was lie. He held his head in his hands. The question drumming against his skull, giving him a splitting headache. Was a frog a farm animal?

As he was plagued with the unrest the question brought him, the third man was eaten too. He kept screaming, something about not being able to provide for his father and how sorry he was for trying to handle a job to catch an otherworlder.

The boy instantly forgot about the scary question and instead focused his attention on the man's words. 'Otherworlder? Another person from my world? Here? Also he seems to be on the run huh? Unlucky dude, I wonder who he is. I'd like to meet him actually, he might be able to give me some pointers or at least give me company'.

Then the froggy looked up at him. 'How did it fin-' He couldn't finish the thought, the crazy frog did not even give him a second to collect his thoughts before its toungue shot out, trying to grab him. He fell backwards, with his injuries he just hoped to dodge the bullet toungue, any other damage he could manage... Hey he rhymed!

Still giddy over his unintentional genius in poetry, he landed on his back and grunted like a horse. Blood gushed out of his wound. He quickly got up grinning and acted tough, it was a matter of life and death godammit, if he didn't act tough now when would he? To show off? Fuck that! He had to survive first.

He pulled his axe, which he luckily did not use during his fight with the heinous pig, and cut through the tree he had called home for a while. As much as he loved nature and it pained him to bring harm to it, it was a necessary sacrifice. He kicked the tree at the frog, making his wound pump out more blood. Really! It was a miracle he hadn't died by now!

The frog ate the tree, like the glutton it was, happily eating someone else's home. 'At least relish it! Don't just swallow it!'. He rushed to the next tree and cut it just like the previous one and kicked it towards the glutton. With each tree it ate, it would grow bigger and slower. Its bursting point should come at some point.

So, he unwillingly participated in the deforestation of this forest to feed a glutton till it exploded. He did not even know if it would work, he just hoped it would since he saw it getting bigger and bigger. This tree-eating contest went on for some time, in which the glutton froggy was without a doubt the winner until it started to try and avoid the trees instead of eating them.

This just confirmed what he thought. 'So it does have a limit'. It had just sealed its fate. He started to kick the trees that he cut and then rush towards the glutton. He couldn't really hold the gigantic tree, it was too heavy, but as soon as the glutton jumped, he just nudged the tree in that direction, changing the tree's direction in mid air and then he rushed back to cut another tree and admire his handiwork.

The tree would then hit the glutton, even if it was not a direct hit, it did some damage, and like how many tiny drops of water form an ocean, a little damage at a time would accumulate over time. The glutton ate a few trees as well so that was an added bonus.

He finally kicked a tree and stopped, 'This much should be enough.' Sure enough, the glutton could not jump anymore and could only open his mouth and swallow the last tree, after which it bulged and just exploded into blood and guts...and trees, and swords, and dead people. The frog had gluttoned itself to death.

A sword flew straight towards him and lodged itself in his gut. "Haha jokes on you I don't have a gut yet, it's still gon-" He didn't get time to finish his taunt before a tree clobbered him on the head and blew him several metres away.

He was directly knocked out by the tree, but did not need to worry about any other beasts cause the tree was now on top of him, shielding him from any beasts that wanted that sweet, sweet human flesh.

But he was knocked out while bleeding out, being safe from beasts was the least of his worries.....or he might have no worries, he's probably having hot cocoa in dreamland right now, how do I know?

Outside the farm forest, in a grassy land, a small caravan with a few people on it stood. Two beautiful women were closing their eyes and holding a transparent orb each. An elderly man was sitting in the driver's seat and a small boy was looking at the two orbs in the women's hands.

Suddenly, the two orbs turned red. Seeing that, the small boy got up and shook the two women awake. They opened their eyes and as soon as they did so, the orbs turned transparent again. The two women looked at the boy in confusion. The boy shook his head.

"The orbs turned red, they didn't make it."

"That's not good, this is the 8th team we sent to capture that coward."

"Should we just go ourselves? I mean, it's not like these people are stronger than us."

"Is something wrong with your brain? We are not going to step foot in that hell hole."

The grandpa in front interjected their banter.

"Let's go back and inform the family of these poor fools shall we?"

He took the reins and drove without waiting for a reply.
