Chapter 2 - Vargus's Secret

Vargus made his way through the forest, his steps steady and determined. Slung over his shoulder was a bag containing essential supplies—food, water, and one other item of great personal significance, its nature known only to him.

By his side hung a massive sword, its blade a testament to years of rigorous training. This weapon, with which he had honed his skills over the past three years, was the only companion he chose to take on this journey.

He had made the conscious decision to leave behind anything deemed unnecessary. To Vargus, the weight of such items would only serve as a burden, slowing him down. His focus was on the essentials, the things that mattered most for survival and for whatever lay ahead.

Being an orphan had taught Vargus to rely on himself from a very young age. He had neither family ties that was holding him back nor a home to look back upon with longing. This solitude wasn't new to him; it was a condition he had navigated all his life.

Yet, as he ventured deeper into the unknown, this solitude took on a new meaning. It was no longer just about being alone; it was about facing the future with the strength of his convictions, armed with nothing but his skills, his sword, and his undeterred spirit.

After journeying through the forest for some time, Vargus found a tranquil spot beneath a sturdy tree. He settled down, taking a moment to rest and nourish himself. He ate his food quietly and drank water, allowing the serene environment to soothe his spirit.

Once his meal was finished, Vargus reached into his bag, retrieving an item that held immense personal value. It was a doll, crafted in the likeness of a white tiger. Despite its worn appearance, indicating it had been cherished for some time, this doll was a treasure to Vargus. Its significance went beyond its physical form; it was a symbol of solace and resilience.

Vargus had crafted this doll with his own hands, a creative outlet to counterbalance the rigorous demands of his training in the village. The process of making these dolls served as a therapeutic escape, a way for him to find peace and heal from the pressures of being labeled a genius.

Among the many dolls he had created in secret, this white tiger doll was the masterpiece, the one he felt the strongest connection to. When the time came to leave the village, Vargus made the painful decision to take only this doll with him, leaving the others behind. In a symbolic act of moving on, he burned the rest, but this white tiger doll, this emblem of his inner world and his craftsmanship, was too precious to part with.

Clasping the white tiger doll in his hands, a wave of comfort washed over Vargus, blending seamlessly with a newfound sense of determination. This doll, a product of his own creativity, stood as a beacon of the gentleness and compassion that flourished within him, even in the midst of his life dominated by the rigors of being a warrior. It symbolized not just his skill and patience in crafting but also highlighted an essential part of his identity—he had become an admirer of all things cute.

This affection for creating and cherishing cute objects had quietly shaped Vargus over the years, weaving into the very fabric of his being. As he reflected on this part of his personality, a realization dawned on him. "Perhaps," he mused aloud to the silence of the forest, "it's my love for these gentle, beautiful things that led me to awaken as the Cutest Tamer. This talent... it's not just random. It's a reflection of who I've become."

The thought brought a smile to his face. Where others saw his talent as a mismatch for a barbarian warrior, Vargus saw a meaningful connection to the deeper aspects of his character. "I've always found joy and solace in making these dolls, in the simple beauty of cute things. It's a part of me that I can't deny. And if this is why I awakened as the Cutest Tamer, then I embrace it fully." His voice carried a warmth, a contentment with his realization that his talent for taming wasn't a curse but a gift that aligned with his true self.

Despite the novelty and mystery still surrounding his talent, Vargus chose not to dwell on the uncertainties. "This talent, as unexpected as it is, brings me closer to the things I love. It's a path I'm eager to explore, to understand what 'Cutest Tamer' truly means." With his cherished doll as a constant reminder of his journey and the love that had shaped him, Vargus was ready to face the road ahead.

He gently placed the doll back into his bag, a sense of peace settling in his heart. With his resolve strengthened and his curiosity piqued about the possibilities of his unique talent, Vargus stood up, ready to continue his journey.

As Vargus continued his journey, the serene silence of the forest was suddenly broken by a rustling from a nearby bush. From the undergrowth emerged a magnificent white tiger, its fur glistening in the dappled sunlight that filtered through the canopy above. The sight of such a fierce creature would have instilled fear in the heart of any ordinary person, but Vargus stood his ground, unfazed.

Gazing into the eyes of the white tiger, Vargus didn't show a hint of fear. Instead, there was a mutual recognition, a silent acknowledgment between two powerful beings. It was in this moment that Vargus let his aura surface, a tangible manifestation of his strength and spirit.

Though his heart harbored a love for all things cute, Vargus was, at his core, a barbarian and recognized as a genius among his people. His aura, therefore, was formidable, embodying the might and presence of a seasoned warrior.

As his aura unfurled, even the majestic white tiger sensed the depth of Vargus's power, feeling a twinge of intimidation. This reaction from such a noble beast was a testament to Vargus's innate strength and resolve.

"Don't think that I am weak," Vargus spoke calmly, his voice steady and imbued with a quiet confidence. As he addressed the tiger, there was no hostility, only a clear assertion of his strength.

As the standoff between Vargus and the white tiger continued, a sudden, low rumble broke the silence—it was the sound of the tiger's stomach growling, revealing its hunger. Driven by instinct more than aggression, the white tiger decided to attack, seeing Vargus as a potential solution to its immediate need.

Without a moment's hesitation, the tiger lunged at Vargus, its claws outstretched, aiming for him with a mix of desperation and hunger. However, Vargus, ever the skilled warrior, reacted with remarkable speed and precision.

He intercepted the tiger's claw mid-strike, his grasp firm and unyielding. With a fluid motion that belied the effort behind it, Vargus then lifted the massive creature and, using his strength and technique, slammed it onto the ground with a controlled but forceful action.

The impact of the slam sent a shockwave through the forest floor, and the tiger let out a roar of surprise and frustration. It was a sound mixed with the pain of the fall and the shock of being overpowered so effortlessly.

The tiger couldn't believe that Vargus possessed such strength, to not only counter its attack but also to dominate it physically, pinning it to the ground with undeniable superiority.

The white tiger, now subdued, issued a low growl, a sound that seemed to plead for mercy under Vargus's firm hold. Vargus, however, responded not with hostility but with a gentle smile. He reached out and softly patted the tiger's head, an act of kindness that seemed to calm the beast further. Then, delving into his bag, Vargus retrieved an item that instantly captured the tiger's attention.

As he pulled out a large piece of meat, the white tiger's eyes widened, its gaze locked onto the food. A visible trail of saliva began to form as it eyed the meat hungrily, its fierce demeanor replaced by an almost childlike anticipation.

Seeing this change, Vargus spoke in a firm yet playful tone, "If you want to eat this, you need to lower your head and sit like a good puppy." The words, though unexpected, had an immediate effect. Driven by hunger, the white tiger quickly complied, lying down and adopting a posture that was indeed reminiscent of a puppy waiting for a treat.

Vargus's smile broadened at the sight, pleased with the tiger's swift obedience. With a gentle toss, he threw the meat towards the white tiger, rewarding its compliance. The tiger eagerly pounced on the meat, devouring it with a fervor that spoke volumes of its hunger.

As Vargus watched the white tiger voraciously consuming the meat, a strange phenomenon began to unfold before his eyes. The air around them seemed to shimmer, charged with an unseen energy and suddenly something unexpected appeared in front of Vargus.
