Chapter 122 - Unknotting the Past

Older Arella watched the anxious and nervous face of her mother with mixed emotions.

Liliana looked distressed, alarmed, dejected, nervous, and anxious. Even her hands were trembling. She focused her attention on warming up the cold body in her embrace.

Once she made sure that the body wasn't deathly cold, she raised her head and looked at others.

"What happened?" She asked in a cold voice. Her eyes had hints of anger.

The Scott ancestors had awkward expressions. They really didn't know what to say. At the end, Elias Scott pointed his finger at the unconscious ice dragon and whispered, "Soul companions."

A flash of understanding crossed Liliana's eyes. She glanced at the unconscious children with a complicated gaze. No wonder Arella clamored that her Beast was restless! Looks like her soul companion had an accident!

"Is she okay?" Amelia Scott asked in a small voice.

Liliana looked at her child and neither denied nor accepted.

"You are from the inner world." Rubius Scott spoke with certainty.

Both the mother and the daughter were from the star allegiance and today was the Red Moon Eclipse. The Scott ancestors were old enough to know the inside information. And that is why they looked at the girl with complex emotions.

"How about you leave her with us? She saved the heir of the Scott family. We will find a good home for her." Elias offered generously.

All of them knew that Star allegiance had a spiritual barrier and a threshold limit. Only people with significant spiritual energy could enter the barrier.

And the child, in front of them, Beastless, only had a weak spiritual power. It was even hard to tell if it could sustain her life or not.

"A good home? Isn't she the heir's soul companion? Shouldn't Scott's family be her home?" Liliana was in a fix herself. Without Star allegiance, the Scott family was her only option.

"Huh? Are you trying to grab a hand now?" Rubius mocked Liliana. "Your child is Beastless now, it is unknown for how long could she live. Do you want us to let our heir into such a dooming trap?"

"A dooming trap? My daughter gave up her Beast for your heir!" Liliana screamed at the top of her lungs.

"She did it out of her own willingness. Now that she has given up, we won't let our heir give up his future too! He is an ice dragon! He is born to rule! We can't let a Beastless child of unknown origin stain his future, can we?" Amelia asked rhetorically.

"We will look after her for as long as she lives but don't expect more than that. She is not worthy of becoming a part of the Scott family!" Elias nipped any hope in the bud.

"Hah! The people from the outer world are indeed vulgar, greedy, and ruthless. How could I even think of trusting you!" Standing alone, Liliana mumbled. Arella looked at her lonely back and felt a sudden sadness covering her.

Before she could swallow the sadness, a mad fury overtook the calm Liliana and her eyes flashed blue. Not only the ancestors but even older Arella was taken aback by the sudden change. The temperature around them dropped and Liliana's aura broke everyone's defenses.

The Scott ancestors trembled and fought with the pressure with furrowed eyebrows. Even the young Arella flinched in her unconscious state. She was so enraged that she felt as if could kill anyone anytime.

Her death glare stopped at the unconscious Ice Dragon. The pride of the Scott family. Noticing her stare, the Scott ancestors stood protectively in front of their only heir. Though their legs weakened, and pain filled their senses, they refused to bulge.

This furthermore angered the already enraged Liliana. She waved her hands and a blue light pierced the protective circle of the Scott ancestors and hit the unconscious ice dragon.

The Dragon let out a pained howl. Elias quickly changed into a fire dragon, burning the blue light. Amelia transformed into a nine headed serpent and covered the ice dragon with her frame.

"Are you sure you want to kill the boy your daughter saved at the cost of her Beast?" Only Rubius remained in his human form and tried to reason with Liliana.

Liliana's hands flicked and the entire ground was engulfed in raging fire.

Standing amid the burning ground, Liliana had a vicious look in her eyes. She wanted to kill anyone who came in her path!

Just as she was about to attack the ice dragon once again, a protective circle of fire emerged around the ice dragon.

Liliana turned and looked at the unconscious Arella with shock. Even older Arella felt that it was impossible! She knew this circle! It was the circle of protection she had conjured up back when she was attacked.

So, did young Arella cover the ice dragon in a circle of protection? But how was that possible? Wasn't she unconscious? Hasn't she lost her Beast? For older Arella, it was too much to take! Who could explain it to her?

She peeked at Liliana, but she looked as shocked as herself!

Liliana quickly raised her hand and released another blue light at the young Arella. She appeared as if she was checking something. When she opened her eyes, it was filled with utter shock!

Only one thought roamed in her mind, 'Her Beast was alive!'

Liliana ran like wind, leaving the burning ground and the Scott family behind. Amid the burning ground, the Scott family didn't notice anything and indulged themselves in taking care of the unconscious heir.

While running, she kept caressing her daughter's face and warmed her hands every now and then. Only after a few touches, did she notice that her daughter's hand was clenched forming a tight fist.

She touched her fist, trying to let her relax, before coaxing the unconscious Arella to open her fist. As soon as her fist opened, a bright blood red ruby flashed in her palm, making Liliana still.

A sigh escaped her mouth as she looked at the bright red ruby.

'A seal? Looks like your soul companion isn't as vicious as his family.' Liliana murmured under her breath.

"Thank you Beast God for having mercy on the children!" Liliana prayed fervently.

Older Arella looked at everything in a daze. It happened so suddenly that it took her a moment to realize the situation.

What happened? How cum her Beast was still alive? What did she mean by a seal? Was the ruby really the crystallization of the seal? Questions followed her till she reached a familiar terrain.

It was the cat town!
