Chapter 2 - It's just so hard to stay attached to this world

Vivian Makoto Baker. The half-Japanese prodigy of this school, Seventeen Roses High… And coincidentally wanted me to be her boyfriend.

Many people describe her as "lifeless", "Cold", and "Uncaring" because the people that were close to her were treated as such as her supposed boyfriend. Even he didn't want to tell people what his experience was with her.

I summed up my thoughts as I walked towards the corner alley where I saw my girlfriend cheat on me.

— "Seriously, she's so insensitive about this. Not that I blame her for asking me out her because she probably don't know–"

— "I know."

I felt a presence behind me and now that I looked where I am, I'm on the entrance of the corner alley of the school and she's right behind me. Standing at about five-foot-five, she's quite tall, it's just that I'm two inches taller.

— "I assume you already know why I called you here, yes?"

I then turned around to look at her.

— "Of course I do. I'm not that stupid."

— "No redeeming qualities, a loner, unarchiver, and cheated on. How do you feel about yourself?"

As if that wasn't enough, she quickly got out a small notebook from her pocket and a pen to go along with it.

— "Nothing because I know I'm miserable and–"

— "Nothing because… I'm miserable."

She muttered under her breath as she continued to write in her small notebook.

— "Are you even listening?"

— "I am. Please continue saying your woes."

She continued to write in her notebook whilst looking down and not even looking at me. Is this how she proposes her love for me?

— *Sigh* I'm just wasting my time. I have better things to do.

I then walked past her but before I could walk an inch past her, she grabbed my hand without even looking at me. Talk about creepy and vague.

— "You are not leaving until I say so. You are going to be my boyfriend because if you say no, you're going to be ridiculed by our peers. And I do not want my dearest boyfriend to suffer under all of that weight of pressure from all of our peers seeing you as an idiot for rejecting me."

She is so full of herself but she's right. I can't say no because it would only ruin my non-existing reputation. My reputation at this school is basically zero and the only thing people know me as is the guy sitting way back in the classroom each year.

— "Fine, you win. But as far as I'm concerned, we aren't dating. You got that?"

— "I knew you were going to say that and I completely agree and understand. Just know that I am only with you to get information and data on how dating works because my previous boyfriend was not too cooperative with me."

I don't even want to know what she did to her boyfriend but whatever it is, I don't want to be involved with it either.

— "What are you even doing?"

— "I am writing ideas for a romance story. Ever since the first one I wrote, I have received heavy criticism that were not even constructive at best and were directed to me which made me a tad bit insecure."

Her voice as she said that was monotone and uncaring as if she was joking, being blunt, or just cold.

— "If you're getting something out of this then so do I: I want to at least make you act like a couple with me in public and in return I'll pretend to do lovey-dovey activities with you and whatnot to help you get some ideas."

— "Oh how romantically sadistic of you. Shouldn't you know not to nick a maiden's heart just by a bit?"

Now her attitude has changed… It almost made my heart flutter. This is definitely not going to be easy.
