Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: Into The New World, Part II

"Heed my words, Heaven shall make its entrance to the New World! It shall know Heaven's might!" with that, his eyes glow hot red. The Guardians, Sebastian, and the Sun Script Maids all bowed their heads.

Lucent landed gracefully; his wings plopped with strength creating gusts of wind.

"Opeter, make your preparations and meet me at the gate of the palace. Also, Sebastian, prepare my carriage, the one that is suited for battle."

"Yes, Your Holiness!" Sebastian and Opeter said in unison.

When everyone left, Lucent was alone with the Sun Script Maids in the throne room. Lucent stepped outside and ready himself. He was able to hover and flew a few meters from the ground just now but he is still apprehensive about flying in the open air. When there was only the open sky above him, he steeled himself to fly. He took a deep breath and looked at the open expanse. Lucent made a squatting motion and his wing spread to its full glory, with a huge leap Lucent soared through the sky.

Flying with wings for the first time is an exhilarating and awe-inspiring experience unlike any other for Keith. The feeling of weightlessness was surreal as if defying gravity itself. Lucent stretched his wings wide, feeling the power coursing through them, propelling him higher and higher with each beat. The world below seemed to shrink as he soared, buildings and trees becoming miniature replicas against the vast canvas of Heaven.

The sensation of flight was pure liberation, a merging of body and air, as if Keith had become one with the elements. The rush of wind against his face, the panoramic view unfolding beneath him, and the sheer joy of unfettered movement filled him with an indescribable sense of freedom.

Every twist and turn in the air felt like a dance with the wind, a symphony of motion guided by instinct and intuition. Keith/Lucent marveled at the beauty of Heaven from above, the patchwork of landscapes, and the endless expanse stretching out before him.

As he gradually descended back to the ground, the experience left an indelible mark on his soul, igniting a passion for flight that would forever linger in his heart. Flying with wings for the first time was not just a physical journey; it was a transcendental experience that expanded the boundaries of possibility and awakened a profound connection to the skies above.

"That was amazing!" Lucent said out loud pure ecstasy in his voice, giddy like a school girl; when he realized that Alpha and the rest of the Sun Script Maids were standing behind him, he coughed in hopes of erasing his previous action unbefitting the ruler of Heaven. "Do not tell anyone what you have witnessed." He commanded, embarrassed of his conduct.

"Yes. Your Holiness." Alpha and the rest of the Sun Script Maid said in unison as they lowered their heads.

"Now then, it's time to make some preparations," Lucent said to himself. "[Open System Menu]"

He looked at his stats once again and this time he focused on his image. The image of Lucent expanded, revealing his entire equipment. He reached for his inventory and a black void appeared by his side. He took out a piece of jewelry box filled with rings that emanated great powers. He took ten of these magnificent rings and placed one of them on each of his ten digits before placing the jewelry box back into his inventory. He reached again and took out a blue veil called [The Veil of Humility], a Divine Class item that has an always active spell called [Spiritual Indulgence] embedded into it. The effects of the veil on the user are [Clarity of Mind] and [Defense from Negative Energy], two spells rolled into one and fused into the veil, creating a new spell called [Spiritual Indulgence]. Its effects on the people around him are [Aura of Calm], [Healing Presence], [Inspirational Influence], and [Harmonies Atmosphere]. The veil back in the game was purely cosmetic in purpose since it does not create Debufs on other players. Although Keith uses it sometimes when he is playing in a group to give Buffs on his allies. He put it on his head letting it drape along his body reaching his hips. How he put on a veil that did not crumple at his back due to his wings, he did not know.

In the game, it was common to mix and match spells to create a new one, although only players are capable of doing this feature. NPCs are limited to the known catalog of spells at their disposal.

Lucent reached into his inventory and pulled out a light armor in gold to add to his equipment. He reached one last time into the void and pulled out a Divine Class item that he crafted and named [The Crown of Heaven]. This item Buffs his basic stats to 5%. The crown has purple jewels placed on each side. The golden crown gracefully extends into majestic wings on each side, evoking the enchanting illusion that the crown itself possesses wings, adding an ethereal and regal quality to its appearance. He then summoned his scythe and with that his preparations were ready. He looked at the system menu one more time to see if his items had added Buffs to his already impressive stats.

Seeing his stats he nodded in approval.

 "Now it is time."

Lucent flew to the palace's gates where he met Opeter in full body armor. He wore an amazing adamantine armor that shifted in color, from black to a green sheen and then purple-white. He has two swords at his hip, his regular sword called [Opeter's Sword] and [The Sword of Chaos], a Galactic item that has the power of chaos embedded into it. Galactic items possess a unique dual nature: while they can be activated to unleash their full, potent power just once, they also retain the versatility to function as ordinary items in subsequent uses. Meaning, Opeter can use [The Sword of Chaos] as a regular sword for however long as long as he doesn't activate it fully, like Lucent's wings.

Sebastian then arrived with the chariot in tow. The chariot is an old Roman chariot in white embellished with gold accents, that was used in the coliseum and arenas for jousting duels. Pulling the chariot were three pairs of majestic lions with wings, that radiate divinity. Opeter's chariot is vastly different, it is black with silver accents to it. The mounts that pulled it were three pairs of skeleton horses that were on fire. They emit an evil aura.

Lucent hopped on his chariot and Opeter did the same. Lucent grabbed the reins and with a loud whip, they rode into the skies of Heaven. Lucent was getting a hang of flying; they flew upwards and the ground got smaller and smaller. When they finally breached the atmosphere of Heaven, Lucent looked back and was in awe. Heaven glows in holy light, its rings move in harmony, casting shadows in the lower rings as they overlap one another. A truly magnificent sight.

Lucent called Romon to guide them to where The New World was located in this void. Romon gladly directed them to the right course to reach their destination. They moved so fast that they left a trail of light, they zipped across space like two comets in the night sky. It only took them ten minutes before they could see a blue pale dot in their line of sight. The pale blue dot got bigger and bigger as they rode closer and closer. Lucent could see the oceans, continents, and vast mountain ranges as well as the sprawling forests and deserts. It was a wonder to behold. Lucent couldn't help but smile in excitement.

Romon guided them to the village via the spell [Message], they decelerated and flew much slower when they entered The New World's atmosphere. They changed their course and flew towards the village that Lucent wanted to save. When they are atop the forest near the village, Lucent and Opeter can hear cries of children below, he looks down and sees the same family in the 'Omniscient Eye' that fled into the forest. The mother was badly injured. Clinging onto a soldier's legs begging him to let her children go, the same soldier that slashed her back, similar to her husband. There were three soldiers in total and all of them were surrounding the family.

"Opeter!" Lucent looked at Opeter and a silent understanding passed across their eyes.

"On it, Your Holiness," Opeter responded before leaping out from his chariot and falling fast into the ground. With a loud thud, the ground shocked, and dust flew. When the dust settled, Opeter could be seen in a superhero landing pose, kneeling one knee into the ground where it cracked, sword at the ready. The soldiers were in shock as well as the family of five, well family of four now.

'That was so cool! Such a great entrance!' Keith cheered inwardly.

As one of the soldiers closest to Opeter grasped the direness of the situation, he lunged forward, sword raised, intent on striking down his target. Yet, before he could execute his attack, Opeter swiftly countered with a precise, slashing motion that cleaved through the soldier effortlessly. The swift and clean cut left the soldier bewildered; one moment he was poised to strike, and the next he felt his body tilting sideways, only to find himself collapsing to the ground in disbelief. As he gazed up, a surreal scene unfolded before him - his lower half, still in motion, hurtling towards the mysterious red-winged man before crashing to the ground in a jarring realization of its upper part's fate.

The shock rippled through the two remaining soldiers and the family of four, freezing them in disbelief as they witnessed the unfolding horror. In a desperate attempt to flee, the man whom the mother had been clinging to callously shoved her aside before darting away. However, Opeter, unwavering in his duty as ordained by His Holiness, refused to let any escape. He summoned [Great Spear], and from the darkness emerged a spear of ominous power into his hand. With precision honed by his unwavering allegiance, Opeter launched the spear towards the fleeing man's back, its dark form piercing through the soldier's head, flesh, and bone with merciless accuracy. The force of impact sent the soldier hurtling several meters through the air until he collided with a nearby tree, where the spear impaled him, leaving him suspended like a hapless insect caught in a web of darkness.

Opeter was about to do the same to the last soldier when Lucent stopped him.

"Enough Opeter, I shall deal with this one," Lucent commanded, as he flew gracefully towards the ground, holy light enveloping him. With that, Opeter backed down.

Lucent saw it all from above, he thought that seeing it up close and personal would make a difference but it did not, he didn't feel anything at all.

'I thought that if I saw gore and bloodshed in person, I would feel something, but I still don't feel anything at all.' Lucent thought. 'Well, let us see if I feel something when I'm the one who's going to take a life.' He landed next to Opeter. 'How strong do the people of this New World can be.'

"[Holy Lance]" Lucent cast a tier one spell, the weakest of all spells. A lance made out of pure light ejected from his hands and shot across to meet its target. Lucent was expecting that the soldier would be able to avoid or even deflect the tier one spell but to Lucent's surprise it incinerated the soldier into dust, a chard smell of meat is the only indication of the man's fate.

'Eh!?' Lucent opened his mouth in disbelief. 'They are that weak?... No…No right?... maybe that was just a fluke, that soldier must have been physically weak or sick or something! I'll summon something weak next to test if it's true.' Lucent thought.

'As expected of His Holiness, he is so cool!' Opter thought.

"[Summon: Holy Knight]" Lucent casted. As the incantation left his lips, the ground beneath him seemed to liquefy, morphing into a malleable mass that swiftly sculpted itself into the likeness of a knight as it hardened. Yet, to Lucent's astonishment, the spell deviated from its expected course; instead of the Holy Knight appearing there was this performance happening. Lucent prepared to enact another summoning spell, only to be interrupted by a radiant beam of celestial light descending from the sky above. With a resounding crack, the hardened exterior began to fracture and crumble, revealing gleaming silver armor concealed beneath. With each crack, the true form of the Holy Knight emerged, a beacon of divine valor and righteousness.

'What's up with the light show?' Keith asked himself. 'It wasn't like this in the game. Usually, the Holy Knight would just appear, but now there is this entire sequence to it. So, there are things that are different from the game and this New World.'

"Holy Knight, kill anyone wearing this armor in the village below," Lucent pointed at the soldier whom Opeter sliced in half. The Holy Knight bowed its head before rushing into the village. "Now then what about you." Lucent looked down at the people he just saved more frightened than ever.
