"What is it?" Aaron asked.
"The guildmasters found a tunnel leading to the next largest city, and they just wanted to let you know about it."
Aaron's guess was right… humans were part of the equation. He wasn't surprised… in theory, it was hard to imagine that a planet would reach its end a lot sooner without the actions of sapient beings affecting it. That made things more complicated, but it would be easier to find the core of the problem and dispose of it.
"What are you going to do?" The woman asked. "Our guild master told us to offer you a mount if you want to help."
"How far away is it?" Aaron asked.
"Three days at moderate speed with a mount," The woman replied. "By the guild masters' estimations, the monsters should have attacked the next city already by midnight."
