Chapter 11 - History (1)

The whole city's soldiers were still surrounding the castle, but they stopped fighting, and so did the skeletons. The skeletons still surrounded the building in order for Aaron not to be stopped.

While the king was being treated by the healers of the castle, the queen guided Aaron to a secret area under the castle. On the side of their dungeon and escape route that would guide them to outside the city if they had to escape, they also built a secret chamber that was around five hundred meters below the castle.

"... We were creating a relic that is able to harness the energy of the land," The queen said. "That is something that was created hundreds of years ago when the son of a miner decided to use magic to help his father."

"Let me guess, you guys decided to create a larger and more potent version that can also charge faster and then explode the whole enemy country?" Aaron asked while showing a fed-up expression.

"... Yes," The queen said after gulping since it seemed that Aaron could read her like the back of his hand.

Aaron wanted to sigh… people become so stupid when they get power in their hands just because their tests worked; they seriously thought that the final use of their magic bomb would work that way. Since the people of that world weren't that strong and their magic was at a basic level at best, they had no idea what would happen if they used a spell or a magic relic that harnessed the power of thousands or millions of their strongest spells.

"Something of that scale might be affected by a number of things. You might not know this, but there are spots in the world that have more concentrations of mana than others. What do you think would happen if your magic bomb were to enter in contact with them?" Aaron asked. "They would work as fuel and propagate the spell even further beyond your calculations. Those kinds of spots usually are connected, so it will be like connecting those pieces of land together and using them to boost the power of your spell."

A spell able to destroy a whole country would, without a doubt, have the potency to expand and find those spots, even if they are underground. The potency would also increase the propagation speed, so the boost wouldn't stop before the spell finds another energy source. All those boosts would cause a chain reaction that was bound to destroy all living matter in the world.

"In the worst case scenario, even people will work as fuel for your tool since they all have magic power inside themselves," Aaron asked. "Had any of you retards considered that?"

The queen wanted to deny it, so she just stayed silent with her head down while her face was as white as a ghost. Of course, she didn't know that. The magic of that world was in its infancy. It was impossible for them to know that… if people had little talent for magic, they probably said that they weren't able to use mana. Even though all living beings have mana, that makes large cities have large concentrations of it. Old cities had even more since they had old cemeteries, and those were the spots that stored even more mana over the years.

When they reached the bottom of the chamber, Aaron furrowed his eyebrows when he saw the magic relic that the queen had mentioned. The thing was gigantic… at least twenty meters long and wide, and it looked like an lego since it had been mounted like that to be transported with more ease. Still, Aaron felt that it was only a prototype…

Each one of the parts was made of some metal and Aaron could feel a large affinity with mana when he touched the parts. Moreover, each part weighed over five kilograms. When Aaron touched it, he infused it with his mana and confirmed all of it only charged around ten percent of the part… it could be more potent than two thousand points of mana… a single part probably could destroy a village of fifty houses, and there were hundreds of those parts.

Aaron facepalmed… those guys had really done it. They were really serious about wiping out an entire country and its people out of existence. If their hatred toward each other was that deep, perhaps trying to solve things peacefully wouldn't do it… but Aaron still had a bit of faith.

"Explain to me the history of your countries and why you hate each other so much," Aaron said and then began to disassemble the mana bomb.

A long time ago, there were two countries named Heiliania and Trerena. These two nations were once friends and allies. Still, a bitter dispute arose between them, causing deep-seated hatred and animosity to develop between them. That started when the people of Trerena noticed that their lands were beginning to change due to some cursed creatures that plagued their lands.

While such a thing happened in Trerena, Heiliania was a land of beauty and grace, filled with lush forests, sparkling lakes, and majestic mountains. The people of Heiliania were known for their love of music, dance, and art. Thanks to it, they ignored the pleas for help of their friends… they were only allies in times of peace.
