Max had just killed two people and effectively completed his first assassination quest (he didn't consider the first one to be complete as he had killed people other than his target).
'I'm an assassin now, aren't I?' he thought, unsure of how to feel, of course he wasn't sad or guilty, as his actions had been planned since the beginning and he only did to become stronger, if the butler hadn't intervened, he probably wouldn't even have killed him.
He then looked at the corpses on the floor, both bleeding profusely, and then at the golden necklace on the table, 'well, at least I completed the quest.'
He picked up the necklace and put it in his pocket, he had no use for it, but leaving it there would be stupid, an easy 10000G shouldn't be left on a table.
