Standing in one of Hogwarts' larger outdoor courtyards Thane couldn't help but look forward to his next class which was normal, but today ws for a far different reason than usual.

At that moment a shrill whistle echoed through the air and Thane looked over to see Madam Hooch enter the courtyard with a bundle of broom sticks floating behind her, "Alright everyone form two lines, the quicker you follow directions the sooner I can get all of you into the air."

Everyone quickly followed Hooch's instructions and before long two lines formed facing each other one for Gryffindor and the other for Slytherin who openly glared at each other.

Stopping in front of the two lines Madam Hooch nodded, before she waved her wand causing the bundle of brooms behind her to break apart with one going to each student, "Today you will have your first broomstick lesson, but before we begin I will remind everyone that your safety is my first concern. Meaning everything I say is to make sure you stay safe, and must be followed without fail. Am I understood?"

Everyone nodded, "Good, now the first step is to summon your broom. Simply hold your hand to the side and say up."

Hooch demonstrated as she held out her hand over the broom resting on the ground next to her, "Up."

At her command the broom leapt up from the ground and shot into the Madam's hand much to the amazement of everyone watching, "Alright your turn to give it a go, remember just like casting any other spell intention and intensity is key."

As soon as Madam Hooch gave the word the courtyard broke out into cacophony of students shouting up with increasing volume after each failed attempt which Hooch expected.

What she did not expect was the sound of wood slapping against a bare palm to echo through the air not only once but twice within the few first seconds.

Looking around Madam Hooch almost immediately spotted the two responsible only to frown when she realized who the brooms had responded to.

Staring down at the broom in his hand with a smile across his face Thane had to resist the urge to hop on the broomstick and take off. Looking around Thane saw that most of his classmates had yet to summon their sticks off the ground, but there was one notable exception. Almost at the same time Thane and Harry's eyes met, and neither looked away.

Thane didn't have much of an impression of Harry, besides his initial remark in potions class he hadn't even heard the boy speak. But for some reason Harry's lips curled in disgust and he glanced away after a second.

Blinking Thane wondered what he had done to sour their nonexistent relationship but only for a second as Madam Hooch spoke up once more, "Now that all of you have summoned your broom, the next step is to mount your broomstick the same you would a bike and hover in place."

Once again Madam Hooch demonstrated her instructions and hovered a couple feet into the air, "To move up and down simply tilt the tip of your broomstick in the same direction."

While he had never learned how to ride a bike Thane threw his leg over the broom and gently pulled up on the stick causing it to smoothly rise into the air before stopping once he was level with Madam Hooch.

This time Thane was only a few seconds before his classmates who quickly joined them in the air though a few shook unsteadily on their brooms.

"Good now take few minutes to familiarize yourself with going up and down, but remember control your broom at all-" Madam Hooch was suddenly cut off as a student from the Gryffindor line rocketed into the air with shrill scream much to the delight of the Slytherin students.

"Alright everyone calm down there's nothing to be-oh my god!" Madam Hooch gasped along with everyone else as the Gryffindor student plummeted back to the ground with his broom still hovering in the air, "Everyone back to the ground right now!"

Madam Hooch ordered as she dove back to the ground before hopping off her broom and running over to where the boy had fallen and was thankfully still moving though clutching his right wrist and writhing on the floor in obvious pain.

"My wrist I-I think it's broken," The boy, Neville if Thane remembered correctly, whimpered as Madam Hooch helped him up to his feet before turning to face the rest of the class, "The rest of you stay here and no flying! I should be back in a matter of moments."

The class broke out into soft murmurs as everyone watched Madam Hooch escort Neville back inside and most likely to the infirmary.

Disappointed that he would have to wait to fly again, Thane stepped off his broom and glanced over just in time to see Draco pick something up from the ground where Neville had fallen. As Draco stood up Thane stared at the large glass marble with a cloud of white smoke inside resting in his hand. But Thane wasn't the only one to notice.

"Hey, that's Neville's Remembrall," Harry exclaimed as he stepped forward and held out his hand, "I can give it back to him in the common room."

Tossing the glass marble up into the air and catching it Draco smirked, "Actually I think I'll hang on to it for a while."

"That doesn't belong to you Draco," Harry insisted only for Draco's grin to broaden as his group moved in to flank behind him, "Oh, and what are you going to do about it Potter?"

Stood off to the side no one noticed as Thane reached into his robe and pulled out his spell blade pointing the tip at the remembrall in Draco's hand, "Accio."

As if connected by an invisible string the glass marble was ripped out of Draco's grasp and zipped through the air to land in Thane's palm, leaving everyone staring at him in complete silence.
