Thane smiled as he met the intelligent gaze of the serpent summoned by his spell, "Hello there gorgeous."

Letting out another loud albeit much softer hiss the massive snake uncoiled as it rose into the air to gaze around at its surroundings. Even with most of its length remaining on the ground the serpent had no trouble towering above the surrounding crowd who flinched away as the snake turned to face them.

In addition to its massive size the snake was covered in gem-like scales the color of emeralds with a silver underbelly that gleamed like metal.

Looking from his summon to Draco, Thane grinned when he saw the mix of awe and terror play across his boney face, "So tell me Draco, do you admit you lost?"

Draco's eyes snapped back to Thane and an uneasy look flashed his face, "W-why should I you didn't cast the same spell as I did!"

"You're right I didn't, I took your spell and made it better. Now stop being a sore loser, I'm getting tired of this dick measuring contest." Thane ordered and the massive serpent in front of him spun to face Draco letting out a spitting hiss as its massive hood flared and it opened its mouth to reveal a pitch black cavern with two long white fangs.

Draco flinched and would have fallen onto ass if not for his gang behind who caught him and helped Draco back up to his feet, "F-fine you won, now get that thing under control!"

The emerald cobra hissed even louder making Draco stumbled back with a startled yelp. Letting out a dark chuckle Thane drank in the terrified look on Draco's face before letting out a soft hiss of his own pressing his tongue to the back of his teeth.

Almost instantly the cobra's mouth snapped closed and it lowered itself back to the ground going from a dangerous to docile in the blink of an eye, "Very good, that will be all for today."

After Thane addressed the serpent, the emerald cobra disappeared in another flash of light along with the snake Draco summoned on his shoulder, "I'm glad we were able to resolve this peacefully, Draco."

With his face turning the same shade of red as a tomato Draco fixed Thane with a furious gaze, "This doesn't change the fact that you're a Mudblood!"

"I never contested you on that Draco," Thane replied calmly as he put away his spellblade, "All I said was that I was better at magic than you. I wanted to see if there was any truth to the widespread belief that those with pureblood are more magically gifted than those born from the mundane. Fortunately for you I require more than one sample to come to a conclusion."

"Padma there you are!! Quick get over here I have to tell you something!"

Padma blinked as the moment she entered the dining hall Parvati popped up out of nowhere grabbing her by the robe and pulling her towards the Gryffindor table.

"Parvati! W-what are you doing?! I have to sit with my house!" Padma objected even as Parvati sat her down next to Lavender who had a brilliant smile across her face

"Not when it involves a certain someone," Lavender responded in a teasing tone making Padma glance at her wearily, "What are you talking about?"

"She's talking about Thane," Hermionine replied matter of factly from across the table as she scooped some mashed potatoes onto her plate, " There was an…incident during our flying lesson today."

"Incident? More like an absolute walloping!" Ron exclaimed from a few seats down, "I'd never think I would end up cheering for a slytherin."

"Would someone tell me what's going on?" Padma asked frustrated and more than a bit curious.

"Well it all started when Neville fell off his broom," Parvati started.

"It's not my fault those things are death traps!" Neville explained only to receive a silencing glare from Lavender, "Um…nevermind."

Parvati grinned, "Thank you Lavender, now where was I..ah yes after Neville fell Draco Malfloy tried to steal Neville's remembrall and…"

Padma blinked as her twin finished recounting the entire story, "A-all that really happened?"

"Of course it did," Ron insisted with his mouth full of roast beef, "You should have seen it Padma, it was awesome."

Hermione grimaced at Ron's behavior, "It was more than awesome, I went to the Library after our lesson…"

"Jesus Hermione get a life," Ron commented, his mouth still full.

Exhaling through her nose Hermione continued as if she hadn't heard Ron, "I looked through every book possible and even asked Ms. Prince. There's no record of the spell Thane cast."

"You don't mean," Padma asked as she filled in the pieces Hermione was laying out.

Nodding along, Hermione had a glimmer in her eyes as she spoke, "I think he created a spell on the spot, just to show up Malfloy."

"How is that possible?" Harry asked, speaking up for the first time, "I can barely cast half the charms Flitwick assigns us for homework."

"So dark and brooding is a magical genius as well," Lavender said as she nibbled on her bottom lip.

"You're helpless," Parvati said with a roll of her eyes, "Besides my sister already has dibs."

"I-I do not!" Padma sputtered, making Parvati and Lavender laugh.

"It looks like I'll have some competition," Lavender replied teasingly.

"Not necessarily," Hermione interjected absentmindedly, "If Thane did really create his own spell, it stands to reason that his magical aptitude will probably be enough to qualify him as a Bloodline Founder. In that case he would be expected to have multiple partners in accordance with the Sanguine Strengthening Pact."

All the conversation stopped as everyone turned to look at Hermione who as if realizing what she just said blushed furiously, "I-I d-didn't mean…a-all I was saying w-was…"

Realizing there was no way for her to recover Hermione snapped her mouth shut as everyone around her laughed at her plight.
