Chapter 2 - New Kid

A few days later, William's father was teaching him about the history of their town in his room.

"This town is almost 510 years old! Do you remember who the founder of our town was?"

"Yes, I do, dad. On another note, when is that boy leaving?"

William was obviously expressing his displeasure with the kid.

His father signed, "Son, we have talked about this many times. He will stay here with us until we find him someone who is willing to take care of him."

"And just when will that happen?"

The father shrugged and sighed once again. "I don't know, but please understand, okay?"

William frowned slightly and nodded.

During dinner, William was staying in his room as usual to avoid him, while his parents were eating with the kid.

After some time, he assumed the boy was done, so he went outside, just to realise he was still eating. William turned back, but the kid tried talking to him.

"William, please don't leave. I want to become friends with you... If that's possible..."

William just ignored him and headed back to his room.

Similar situations happened for a few more days, until William was tired of having the same conversation over and over again.

"Fine! I will eat with you. Just this once, and no more."

William ate dinner with his parents and the boy, who was content.

After finishing his dinner, William immediately got up from his seat and went back to his room. On his way back, his stomach growled.

William had trained extra hard that day, so he knew it was understandable that he was hungrier than usual.

"Here, you can have mine."

A small voice came from William's side, together with two arms, handing him a potato.

"Uhh, okay."

William awkwardly took the potato from the boy and ate it.

Huh. I guess he isn't all bad...
