A few days passed, and William was feeling a lot better.
He could get up, take a walk around, and do a lot more than he could a few days ago, albeit with some difficulty.
I wonder how he's doing.
William made his way to the room beside his, hobbling slightly.
He opened the door and entered, hoping for the best. However, to his dismay, his deduction was accurate; his friend was lying on his bed, asleep.
William looked around the room and went closer to the boy.
Sigh
He turned around, took a few steps towards the opened door, and attempted to leave the room, but was stopped by a faint sound that came from his friend.
William quickly spun around and observed his friend again, and he noticed a little movement.
"Are you... awake, by any chance?"
He whispered in a soft tone after moving closer and was met with the response of some mumbling he could barely hear, much less comprehend.
William went beside him and squatted down. He inspected his friend, still trying to make out if he was awake or not.
After a brief moment of quiet, his friend's eyes slowly opened as he glanced at William, who was beside him.
"William?"
He nodded in response, and a slight concerned look appeared on his face.
"Yes? Though, I have to say: You don't look so good. Was the rest you've gotten these past few days insufficient?"
The boy's brain struggled to process the startling revelation, leaving him momentarily speechless. He scratched his head and opened his mouth to say something, but only silence followed.
The boy shook his head and finally snapped out of it, his mind going back to the present.
"What do you mean by 'these past few days'? Was I really unconscious for that long?"
The boy was pretty shocked about the information.
William nodded to affirm the fact. "Yeah."
As they were discussing the fight with the youth salamander a few days ago and what they planned to do to get stronger, William abruptly recalled one of his burning questions about his friend right in front of him.
"You have been living with us for quite some time already, right?"
Despite being somewhat stunned by the sudden change of topic, the boy answered regardless.
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"Well, I haven't actually inquired about your name yet, so, um, would you mind telling me?"
The boy was surprised by the question.
"Oh, that? It never actually came across my mind—not even once; no wonder you haven't been calling me by my name. Although I did introduce myself to you all on that day."
Oh? I suppose it was because I was so upset that I did not hear him.
