Chapter 4 - Danger

After a few seconds of silence, a few goblins emerged from the bushes, as if they had discovered their next victim.

Unfortunately for them, though, William was aware of the goblins' weaknesses as a result of his father's teachings.

As one of the nearby goblins pounced on William, he easily and swiftly dodged the attack and struck back with his wooden sword, smacking the goblin in the head.

The goblin collapsed to the ground, seemingly knocked out cold. The other goblins seized the opportunity and charged towards the two of them.

With excellent synergy, William and the boy launched coordinated attacks on the incoming goblins, easily defeating the remainder.

However, the ground continued to tremble. In fact, it has become more frequent and of greater magnitude.

Just then, a roar can be heard behind William and the boy's backs.

They turned around in apprehension, only to be confronted with a young Fire Salamander.

William knew it was trouble, and they would not be able to defeat it easily, if at all. A typical fire salamander is much more powerful than a group of goblins.

The boy noticed William's serious expression on his face and realised they would not be able to get out of this situation easily.

William looked at the boy and nodded. They both immediately sprung into action as the salamander charged forward.

William dashed towards the fire salamander's side, while the boy sprinted towards the shed containing a plethora of wooden weapons.

William's daily training paid off, as he barely dodged the salamander's claw attacks.

"William! Here!"

The boy threw William's steel long sword with all his might, hoping it would reach him.

"Thanks!"

William shouted back, catching the sword in one hand and unsheathing it from its scabbard. The fire salamander roared as it breathed fire from its mouth at William.

As William dodged the attack, his fellow battle member dashed to the salamander's side and struck it with the wooden sword.

However, due to the salamander's tough scales, the blow caused little damage, but it did successfully draw its attention.

The fire salamander turned around and began attacking the boy, while simultaneously swinging its tail at William.

Both of them initiated a tactical retreat, preparing for the next wave of attacks.

William charged for the only magic spell he knew at the time, despite having only recently begun learning it.

In the meantime, the salamander and the boy were fighting each other.

"Fireball!"

After a while of waiting, William launched his attack. The fireball flew straight to the target at high speed, while his ally backed away to avoid the attack.

The fireball impacted the salamander, causing a massive explosion that sent both of them flying backward.

As the smoke cleared, William and the boy turned to face the explosion's impact zone.
