Chapter 21 - Chapter 20 : There is always an abysmal darkness hidden behind a friendly sweetness

A day like any other

"Edward is sitting on the sofa of the living room, next to Rebecca."

Edward:

"Edward shakes his azure blue t-shirt from the bottom, towards his stomach, to create wind."

"With a t-shirt bought by Ludo thanks to the Sun Hope postal service, which has delivered all the clothes necessary for Edward in exchange for money."

Don't you think these days are getting hotter and hotter?

At this rate, we will soon cook meat outside.

Rebecca:

This heat doesn't laugh, stay under the sun these days cannot be anything other than a torture, I'm seriously considering not leaving the house if this continues.

Edward:

I can only agree with you, this heat is truly despicable.

"Three people enter the inn in the middle of the afternoon, hearing the noise of the door, Edward glances behind him while stopping shaking his t-shirt."

Looks like they're new customers.

Rebecca:

New customers?

"Rebecca turns around, but unlike Edward, she was speechless when she saw these new customers."

Ludo:

Hello ladies and gentlemen, what can I do for you?

??????? :

We will take two bedrooms for this day.

Ludo:

Oh very good, it's seven and a half silver vams please.

Rebecca:

(That bunch of bastards, I'm sure it's them, I can't be wrong.)

"Rebecca gets up and walks towards the counter, filled with rage."

Edward:

"Edward in reaction, when he sees Rebecca get up, he says without her hearing him."

Rebecca?

"Edward also got up to follow Rebecca, from there he took her arm."

Hey, what's happening to you all of a sudden?

"Edward meanwhile looks at Rebecca's eyes, he sees immense rage buried in her face."

Rebecca:

"Rebecca gently removes Edward's hand from her right arm before moving a little closer to the counter, staying a little away from the customers."

Ludo:

"Ludo, seeing Rebecca arriving near them, decides to introduce her to the customers."

Ha ha, my daughter came.

Her name is Rebecca, say hello to the new customers.

Rebecca:

"She turns her face away from the customers, her gaze still filled with hatred and rage, saying nothing."

(It's hard to restrain myself from killing them right away.

I wouldn't have as many opportunities in the future, they are the only ones who left the village after taking over the house, therefore the only ones who can still make it out alive among all those who still live here.

But if I kill them now, I should tell my father everything.)

"Rebecca walks around the customers and goes outside without looking at them."

Edward:

"Edward remained behind, contemplating the scene."

(What the hell is she doing?)

"Before following her."

Rebecca:

(If I stay here, I feel like I'm going to cause a carnage.

I made my choice, I wouldn't do anything against them to keep what happened a secret.

As much as I say that, I only want one thing in the end and I can't have it, kill these demons in the cruelest way possible.

Demonstrate them what fear is, so that they can feel all the pain that implies the fact of having put me through this.)

"Rebecca, thoughtful, not notice that Edward follow her.."

"She heads towards the forest below the village, followed closely by Edward."

Edward:

"As soon as Edward finally catches up with her, he tells her."

Rebecca, what's going on?

Why are you acting like this all of a sudden?

Rebecca:

"From behind, Rebecca answers him."

Edward, please leave me alone, I need to be alone.

Edward:

Explain to me first why you are like this?

What is so bad that you react like this?

Rebecca:

"She stops and turns around."

I told you to leave me alone, I don't want to talk to anyone so do me a favor and let me go peacefully while I'm still nice!

Edward:

But Rebecca I'm worried… "Rebecca interrupts him."

Rebecca:

I told you to leave me alone, what don't you understand about what I'm telling you?!!

Until the end, you prevent me from breathing on my own!

As a friend, I thought you would try to understand, yet here you are, clinging to me at the most uncomfortable moment for me without thinking about how I feel!

Edward, please leave me alone for once, let me unwind a little, will you?

"After a brief moment of silence, she leaves towards the forest, leaving Edward behind."

Edward:

"Edward stayed put."

(In this situation, what am I supposed to do?

Go see her to find out what's wrong with her and help her or stay here, wait for her and perhaps never know what dark bad memories she hides in her heart.

Every time, it's like with the story of the injury to her head, she will inevitably try to hide the real reasons for her sadness or anger from her father or from me.

In the meantime, the more I talk, the farther away she gets.

If I stay here too long, I'm sure I'll lose sight of her in the forest since I don't know the forest in the south of the village well.

Hahh, I don't like that, I think I'll have to choose the third option, watch her from afar so that she can leave a clue as to what's wrong in her mind by thinking that I'm not present near her.

It's not the kind of method that I find very ethical but hey no choice, I know better than anyone that leaving trauma, fear, anger or hatred buried inside oneself without being able to fight against is the best way to become unhappy.

I don't think you're an exception.)

"Edward follows Rebecca's silhouette in the distance while running."

"He ran without getting too close to her, as soon as he could he hid so as not to be noticed by Rebecca, until he reached the forest."

"From there, he approached Rebecca without being noticed until he was close to Rebecca's secret hiding place, hidden behind a big tree which is 10 meters high."

Rebecca:

"Rebecca looked around."

(No one around.)

"Rebecca, squatting on the ground, remove the leaves near of the tree, placed on a wooden plank, hiding a dug hole one meter deep and three meters long."

"A hole filled with dry leaves so that you can lie down and rest without getting your clothes dirty."

"Rebecca used this hiding place to be able to rest on particularly hot summer days by going to a place sheltered from the sun's rays."

"After removing all the leaves and the wooden plank, Rebecca then wanted to jump but she gave up, for a reason that she herself does not know."

Rebecca:

Ah ha.

(I need to calm down, I can't even bring myself to calm down.

If I don't, my father will force me to talk about it.)

"Rebecca puts her hands on her face, trying to regain her normal face."

(Come on, I'm calm, I'm going to stay calm until the end without getting angry.

Huh, I'm a good girl now, I shouldn't get angry, that's it Rebecca?

Hehe heh heh.)

"Rebecca suddenly turned her upper body a bit around and, out of rage, began to punch the ground with all her might."

Aaaah!!

Aaaaah!!!

Edward:

"Edward watched the whole scene from behind his tree."

(Why is she so angry?

I've never seen her as angry as she is today, there must be something very serious hidden behind it.

No matter what you can say to me, I can't leave you like this.)

"Rebecca kept hitting the ground again and again."

Aaaaah!!!

"Until the ground is soaked in blood."

"When this was the case, Rebecca stopped hitting the ground."

Huff!

Huff!

Huff.

(Piss off.)

"Rebecca, after hitting the ground, kept both her hands on the ground because of the pain, the ground kept the marks of the blows with Rebecca's blood littered where she struck."

"A few seconds later, the silence gave way to Rebecca who began to cry."

Without those damn demons, I wouldn't have been here behaving like that.

"Rebecca lies on the ground, crying more and more."

Hngghh!

Aaaahhaaah! Sniff!

Hngghh!

Aahaah!

Hnghh!

Haaah!

(Why me ?

I just wanted to live a quiet life, why is it so difficult?)

Aaaah!

"Rebecca stood there crying for a few minutes, with Edward not watching what was happening but listening to Rebecca's cries, remaining seated against the tree where he was."

"During that moment he thought."

Edward:

(I should let her express her sadness, everyone needs to cry after all, even if it's for the wrong reasons.)

"When Rebecca stopped crying, she wiped her tears with her arms since the pain coming from her fists was unbearable at the moment, that's when Edward appeared in front of her."

(I already regret coming out of my hole, given the reaction earlier.)

Do you really think this is a viable situation, Rebecca?

Rebecca:

I have nothing to tell you.

Edward, I told you not to come but you came anyway, why are you trying so hard to not respect my wishes?

Do you hate me that much?

Edward:

"Edward can't help but feel frustrated when he talks to her."

I don't hate you Rebecca, on the contrary, I love you for who you really are.

It's just that when I see everything you're going through, I can't help but try to help you, I hate seeing you so sad because of things that happened to you.

Since you took me in, I felt how much I was indebted to you and how much I cared about you, this affection that I have for you is what motivates me to want to make you happy.

I'm sick of seeing someone suffer like I did in the past, that's why… "Rebecca interrupts once again."

Rebecca:

Edward, have you ever kept a secret so bad that it could destroy your entire world, cause everyone who knows you to turn against you, cause everyone who doesn't know you to avoid you or even start looking at you like a common animal?

I'm convinced that is not the case, you've lived your whole life without having to hide anything at the risk of your social life, how could you know what that feels like?

You don't know what it feels to be able to lose everything in a single moment, yet you still want to know what secret I'm hiding without my opinion really mattering, all that matters is the fact that you know the secret.

Admit it, your curiosity is greater than your desire to help me, otherwise you would not have insisted so much on knowing what I am hiding.

Edward:

(She's not wrong with what she says, so what?

Because you're right, does that mean I have the right to abandon you? Forget it, I will never let you down.)

Rebecca, why do you want to be alone so much?

Staying unhappy is funny for you to the point that you absolutely try to avoid me or your father?

What's the point of making this mistake?

This current situation is surely not better than the one where you reveal everything that is bothering you to finally unload all the weight on your shoulders.

Refusing someone's urgent help is abandoning them to their fate, for me you are no exception even if you don't cry out for help.

You're not crying out for help but you're not better than someone in danger in my eyes, the only real danger I see now is the fact that you could live in suffering and pain.

And so what?

I have to give up so easily because you don't want to?

No it's impossible.

You are the only friend I have ever had, I consider my life as precious as yours, your suffering is mine and your joy is mine too.

That's why when you suffer, I suffer too, I can't help it.

I love our relationship too much to let it break up because of events in the past, Rebecca.

"Edward extends his hand to Rebecca so that she can get up."

Let's get back on good foundations.

Let me help you, I don't want you to fall into an endless spiral of sadness because of an embarrassing past.

Rebecca:

(I see, you also wanted to empty your bag.)

Haah.

(I seem to have gotten too excited, I don't recognize myself in what I said to Edward.

Why is it so hard to be sincere?

These are the kinds of questions I always ask myself without ever really answering them.

Instead of dodging it, why not take a first step?)

"Rebecca gets up with Edward's help before embracing Edward and giving him a hug, avoiding squeezing him too much because of the pain in his hands."

Edward:

"Edward blushed slightly"

Rebecca?

Rebecca:

I'm sorry for raising my voice at you, I didn't realize what I was saying at the time because of the anger I've built up over time.

I only now realize what I put you through today.

Edward:

It doesn't matter, I don't blame you.

Rebecca:

Good, I don't want to feel remorse when I come back to the inn for what I did.

You know Edward, you're also the only friend I've made, this is still very new to me, so don't blame me if I do things the wrong way with my words or actions.

I am quite clumsy by nature in all areas, saying the wrong words or doing borderline things are things that I can do and have already done.

Edward:

No need to tell me, everyone is awkward in their own way, as long as everyone understands each other, there are no misunderstandings.

Rebecca:

"Rebecca smiles for a brief moment before stopping."

If you say so.

In any case Edward, one thing is certain, it will take me time to talk about my past.

I only ask you one thing, when the time comes, always see me as a friend, that's all I ask.

Edward:

All right.

"Rebecca stops her hug with Edward."

Rebecca:

"Rebecca smiles shyly."

I feel better Edward.

Thank you for being my friend, I don't know what I would have done without you to keep smiling today, despite what happened to me.

Edward:

"Edward smiles too."

(You surely realize that you are more beautiful when you are happy, don't let the ugliness of sadness tarnish your beautiful smiling face, Rebecca.)
