Chapter 24 - Chapter 23 : A memory stuck in his head

A training day like any other in the forest, a week earlier

"Edward seated, facing Rebecca standing."

Rebecca:

You still can't have a power linked to your void energy because it's too early.

Don't worry, it's normal that it's hard for you, personally it took me three months to make my power of void appear and two weeks to master it a bit.

Edward:

I know it's too early, but for once I'm able to properly circulate this energy after all the time it took me.

I expected to be able to use it to do awesome things like spitting fire or create water.

Rebecca:

I tell you again Edward, you must not rush and do things slowly.

Remember the theory, to make your energy flow from the void, you must create a mental image where you imagine yourself bringing out from your body a sort of veil of energy which will cover the parts that you have decided to cover.

Then, when the sensation of tingling and the impression of being enveloped by something thin like air comes, you…"She gets interrupted by Edward."

Edward:

You start again more and more until you reach the limit of energy that you can bring to know your energy endurance.

Yes yes I know, but what about the practical application after this workout I'm doing at the moment?

What do you do when, like me, you have managed to become a void user who knows how to circulate your void energy throughout your body, and you want to see what powers you can unlock?

Rebecca:

My father considers me impatient, yet if he knew that you are much worse than me, I wonder how he would react.

I have already reminded you countless times that the basics are the most important things when you want to use the void energy, neglecting them won't do you any good.

Someone who has mastered the basics, know how to completely control the circulation of his void energy and perfectly understand how it works. This is not your case, I remind you.

Anyway, I can guess at first sight that, stubborn as you are, you will inevitably ask me again later for explanations on how to have a power of void, out of curiosity.

Haaah, you're really tiring, I hope you know that.

I'm making you happy for once, so don't come back to bother me with the question of the powers of the void if you don't want to eat my fist in your face.

So.

How to have a power powered by void energy, in other words a power of void?

The answer to this question is that we must create the mental image that we can have of an object or a physical phenomenon, which will allow its creation from the void energy, well let's say rather that's 50% of the answer.

The other 50% is for what we call a personal definition of self, something I haven't told you about until now.

Edward:

What is this complicated word?

I'm completely lost.

Rebecca:

This is the way of calling this phenomenon, used by the void wielders of Sun Hope and I agree with you, it's a bit complicated to understand, by calling it like this.

You can call it what I like to call it myself, the chain of passions linked to the soul.

As its name suggests, it is the concept of linking passions or desires engraved in the soul to our will, of materializing this connection thanks to the void energy to literally give life to our deepest will.

Of course, put like that, it seems easy to say to ourselves that we just have to think about what we like the most as an activity, or object, or even think about a capacity that we would like to have, to be able to make that appear in front of our eyes.

But if it were that simple, the Reaper wouldn't have killed so many people, because the power that could be created with this concept would be unimaginable.

As you could see during your training, controlling void energy is not easy so imagine that in addition to doing that, you have to think about what you want to create with your imagination and that it be precise enough that it appears without worry.

While dosing your void energy to prevent your body from being able to support the excess energy, if you ever start to release too much energy outside your body.

You now understand why it took me three months to even succeed in materializing my power of void?

You understand what I mean right?

Edward:

(I think I underestimated too quickly the amount of work that it represent.)

Sorry, I must sound like a super impatient person who doesn't realize how difficult it is to master or create a power powered by void energy.

Rebecca:

A little bit, yes.

It's normal to feel frustrated, however not being able to use your void energy to its full potential should not make you impatient, otherwise you will end up despairing over nothing.

You know, void wielders are quite rare due to the fact that not everyone necessarily succeeds in feeling the void energy, since it takes a certain amount of time to train your soul to seek out this energy.

This happens when you have experienced, through meditation, how to sense all parts of your body, precisely enough that you can then be accustomed to placing the void energy where you want it in your body.

And, by feeling the void energy already in your body, while trying to extract it and bring it to the surface on the limbs of your body.

I can tell you that this first step is often little understood by people who try their hand at handling the void energy, which means that they cannot use the void energy, or partially.

Edward:

When you say people, is that a large part of the population or just a small part?

Because you've already told me that most of the inhabitants of our village don't know how to use it, but that's not necessarily a generality for all the villages in this region.

Rebecca:

It's a large part of the population that does not know how to use void energy, according to the words of my father, who had this information in an assessment made by the Sun Hope faction.

Me and my father are exceptions when you look at the total number of void wielders present in the villages near us.

Edward:

Why couldn't they?

I've seen that some of the men in the village are quite muscular, so I tell myself that there's no reason why they can't master void energy.

Rebecca:

Do you think I'm very muscular from your point of view?

Edward:

"Edward carefully examines Rebecca's entire body."

Not really.

Rebecca:

That's because it's playing out somewhere else,… "Rebecca puts her index finger on her head"… in there.

The discoveries made by Paolo Falseweat were not just another statement to show off by telling the world that they were wrong about the way the mind gathers energy from the void.

The statements he made were also intended to show that anyone can use this dormant power as long as we persist in training a minimum for it.

This is where you surely see that the problem does not come from the body, but from the mentality.

It's apparently been 15 years since the village was attacked, so that obviously played a role in not making the members of our village want to learn how to defend themselves.

(And also because there are some shits that I will rush to kill when I will become strong enough.

You will see that your peaceful days will disappear just as I slowly tear you all apart.)

Edward:

You said, Rebecca?

You seem to be a little elsewhere, are you okay?

Rebecca:

"Rebecca, surprised, responds to Edward, suddenly regaining consciousness."

Ah hum, it's nothing, I was just thinking.

Okay, enough talk, continue training on your mastery of void energy, if you don't want to end up with control problems if you were to one day awaken a power of void.

Edward:

I'm motivated now that I know how to have powers like your father, it's exciting for the future.

Well, I'm continuing the training as planned so that one day I can be as strong as you.

Rebecca:

Stop talking and practice more!

You have to at least be able to reach my level to finally do interesting things, move on if you don't want to be behind me forever, are you awake little guy?

"Edward wakes up, suddenly coming back to reality."

Edward:

(It looks like I passed out without paying attention.)

"Edward tries to get up, in vain, the pain in his stomach that he had suffered until then prevents him from getting up this time, the adrenaline having dissipated since he passed out."

Rufus:

"Rufus, standing above Edward, looks at him with a mocking face."

You wonder how you could beat me, right?

I am used to seeing the people I kill for my pleasure constructing plans in their heads to kill me until I come to shorten the suffering coming from their despair.

I suggest you to give up on killing me, why don't you just come and struggle like an earthworm for a little while?

You already lend yourself well to the game, in my humble opinion.
