The wolf rested on the ground for a while, since he couldn't comprehend the fast healing process. As he noticed the pain was gone, he thought that he may have already died, but once it looked around and at its body, it noticed that all the wounds he had previously had were nearly completely healed by now. It looked around in astonishment, still not knowing what happened, but as the only thing it saw in its proximity was Johanna, it came to the only logical and right conclusion. It slowly got back on its feed and tried to take a few steps in Johanna's direction, and once it was close enough, he licked her all over her face with his tail waggling from excitement.
Johanna petted him and tried to stop him, but she eventually gave up as the wolf was so persistent in wanting to thank her that it made even Amanda, who was standing in the back the whole time, not scared of the wolf anymore since he looked too cute to do her any harm. Once the wolf calmed down and had gotten enough pets, he sat back down, waiting for Johanna to give him a command.
She was exhausted from running and sprinting all day, so she decided to just ask him to slowly carry her back to the cave and let her rest there. Amanda had to walk back on foot, but since they weren't in a hurry anymore, they just travelled back to the cave slowly and started chatting a bit.
"So, where do you come from, Amanda?"
"I'm originally from Xianxi, but I moved to this small village that didn't even have a name for my husband, whom I met and married in Xianxi."
"Oh, that sounds romantic, but is he still alive?"
"Maybe he was one of the first guys to start fighting, so he is probably dead by now, but there is still a glimmer of hope in me that he somehow fled and survived. But I am also curious: what is your relationship to those goblins? They seem to respect you, and you didn't even try to escape once. You are very strong; if we all work together, we can escape."
"Well, you just talked to the completely wrong person for that. I'm the mother of the twins that run this village, and since they all treat me well, why shouldn't I continue living here?"
The conversation was cut short once Amanda realised what a grave mistake she had just made. After complete silence for a while, both of them were just looking forward, and Amanda's cheeks were glowing red. Johanna broke the silence.
"Don't worry, I won't tell my sons of your plan, but I do have a task that would be very important: you have to train some medics in my army's ranks since, without you, the wolf would have died, and I couldn't imagine how much regret I would feel if one close to me died because of a reason like that."
"Thank you for keeping my secret from you. I am very thankful for your offer, but I would have to think about it very carefully, since if I did teach your goblins medicine, I would give the goblins means that could take away many more husbands."
"I understand"
As the conversation was about to turn silent again, the three of them finally arrived back at the village where Noah and Ethan were waiting, since they heard of the thing that happened earlier today from Aiko. They rushed over to Johanna with a worried look on their faces, looking around for anyone who was heavily injured. Finding no one, they turned to Johanna, expecting an explanation. Johanna briefly explained to them what happened, and after finding out, Noah and Ethan could finally be at peace since their mother has been worrying them too much lately.
Johanna asked for a place to keep the wolf for now, but to her surprise, Noah and Ethan explained to her that there was no place for them in the cave and that their small hay huts outside were not spacious enough to fit a wolf inside. Johanna then counted two and two together and noticed that there were no competent builders or engineers in the village either.
It made sense to her after thinking about it for a while, since the goblins didn't steal anything that didn't shine or had a hole and looked female enough, and the female captives didn't have these engineering skills since even though this world's gender roles weren't as bad as mediaeval European ones, they still didn't allow women to have these kinds of jobs.
The village had a serious problem since she couldn't educate goblins on civilised topics too much since they could then start getting away from their barbaric ways, which wouldn't make expanding her power easier.
But Johanna didn't have enough power left to think about all of this, and since she had already gotten one wolf, she was satisfied with her work for the day and decided he could just sleep in her bedroom for the night until they found a better solution for this problem.
