Johanna woke up the next morning. The wolf was pushing her off her bed to wake her up from her sleep, since he didn't want to stay in the cave any longer. So Johanna decided that she should take the wolf for a walk since she didn't know if he would wet her room instead. As she was walking with the wolf, she was greeting Ethan and Noah, who decided to join them in the walk. As they were walking through the village, they were discussing the problem with qualified workers, and Johanna had the idea that they could hire miners or architects who would be willing to expand the cave or build the town up on the surface.
Noah and Ethan thought it was a good idea, but they weren't sure if there would be anyone willing to do this in a goblin village, and there was another problem: even though goblins liked to steal shiny things, the villages that they raided were mostly small and poor, so they had no means of actually paying the workers.
Johanna knew that all these problems could be solved through money, but she simply didn't know how to earn it since she was now an official criminal searched for in the entire kindom by all the adventurers. She did think of a few ideas, but they were all way too ambitious or undoable since she didn't want her village to get too much attention from the kingdom since they would be exterminated.
She decided on the simplest idea: to somehow get mining equipment and force the goblins to expand the cave day and night, hoping that they would not find any dangerous caves or collapse the whole cave, ruining the whole village.
Noah and Ethan agreed to the decision and departed after saying their goodbyes. Since Johanna still hadn't found nearly enough wolves to call an army, she departed with her wolf to hunt and find him some wives.
They slowly walked through the forest, and to Johanna's surprise, they stumbled on a wolfpack pretty fast. This was because the wolf could smell other wolves from kilometres away with ease, but the wolf pack had an alpha wolf that was the boss, so Johannas Wolf would have to fight him if he wanted to take his wives.
The other wolves noticed Johanna and her wolf as soon as Johanna's wolf detected them, but since they had the numerical advantage and they didn't notice that one of them was a wolf too, they didn't worry. But once the alpha noticed that the foreigner in his territory was another male wolf, he was ready to accept his challenge. So Johannas Wolf, knowing this, stepped out of the bushes with Johanna waiting in the bushes, anticipating the duel, since she could just tame the winning side.
With teeth bared and muscles tensed, they lunged, clashing fur and fang in a whirlwind of ferocity. Each bite and swipe echoed the struggle for dominance as leaves scattered like witnesses to their primal duel.
Their fight was not just physical but a battle of wills, a testament to their determination to claim dominance over each other. Despite their strength and prowess, neither could gain a decisive advantage as they danced in the moonlight.
As the fight wore on, exhaustion began to take its toll. Their movements slowed, and laboured breaths filled the air. But Johannas Wolf had a trump card. Since Johanna tried to apply her healing abilities from afar, this could backfire very hard since she could also accidentally heal the enemy, but she still tried her best to aim at her own wolf, and luckily for her wolf, it slowly began to regenerate from its injuries, and her healing ability even helped him recover a bit of his stamina.
With this unfair advantage, Johannas Wolf was able to dominate from a certain point on, and after the wolf's last futile attempts at resistance, he had to admit defeat, but as expected, he didn't want to give up and rather decided to die in this fight. Johannas Wolf finally killed the previous alpha of the Wolf pack and was now in control of his new pack. Johanna came out of the bushes and approached her wolf, petting him on the head. The other wolves were visibly confused about this, but this didn't matter to Johanna or her wolf.
Johanna commanded the wolves to follow her back to the village. On their way back, they decided to hunt since they were pretty hungry since the duel took longer than expected. Johannas Wolf was a surprisingly good leader, and under his command, the Wolf Pack was able to hunt down a few animals on their way back.
The big group of wolves arrived at the village at noon and caused quite a shock among the goblins, but once they realised they weren't here to eat the goblins, they started a little celebration. Noah saw all those wolves and acknowledged that these wolves could not stay in their houses, so Johanna and Noah decided that they could roam around the village and had to sleep somewhere on the surface.
Johanna had some time to reflect as she was eating lunch with her wolf and noticed that without her ability, her wolf wouldn't have had a chance to beat the previous alpha, so she came to the conclusion that she should go and search for monsters that have abilities as powerful or even stronger than the unicorns.
