Chapter 31 - CH.30

Johanna spent the evening chatting with Aiko, Ethan, and Noah since she was curious about what else happened. The stories they told her were also interesting, but since her day was very exhausting, she decided to go to sleep earlier than normal so that she could also perform better tomorrow.

The next morning, she decided to only greet her children very quickly since she wanted to depart immediately because the thought of being able to ride wolves alone was already very cool, but also because the increased strength would help her sons out very much. Another big factor was that once they got wolves, they could be used to search for her missing child, who still lives with Frank and needs to be freed from him immediately.

Sadly, Johanna had no real plan for how to catch the wolves. Yes, she is able to unwillingly attract monsters, but that could also mean that random monsters show up, which she has to kill until she gets found by a wolf pack, whom she then has to beat into submission. That is Johanna's only plan on how to "tame" wolves; she just has to take on the alpha position of the pack and then bring them back to the cave.

But she still didn't know where to find them, so she just decided to walk back to the area where she and her group were attacked by the wolf before; maybe he returned to his pack and she could follow the trail of blood he left behind. But if the wolf was somehow separated from his pack, she wouldn't be able to tame it since there would be no alpha for him.

The walk there was way more comfortable for Johanna since she wasn't exhausted at all. The hunt turned out to be more of a walk in the park, at least until she recognised the place where she was attacked yesterday, and just like she expected, she found a blood trail. She decided to follow it, and in the worst case, she would just find the dead body of the wolf.

The blood trail was longer than Johanna had expected, and even though she injured the wolf pretty badly, she proceeded to follow the trail for a few minutes until she spotted the blody and beaten-up wolf, but to her surprise, it looked like the wolf was attacked by another animal since he had claw marks all over its body. Johanna approached the wolf to take a closer look at it, and once she got close enough, she noticed the dead carcass of a mountain lion that had been eaten completely by the wolf already.

The wolf raised its head, and once it spotted Johanna, it took quite a while to realise who the human before it was, but once the wolf recognised Johanna, it immediately tried to get up to escape from her, but its wounds were too deep. Johanna tried to show that she came with no bad intention, but the wolf, of course, couldn't realise this, so it stayed on high alert and kept a close eye on Johanna. Normally, the best way to get to an animal's heart would be to feed it, but unfortunately, Johanna didn't bring any food at all.

Johanna knew how unprepared she was for this whole action, but she decided it couldn't be that hard to hunt an animal with her powers. That's why she came to the conclusion that she should just hunt an animal for the wolf, and since the wolf couldn't move anywhere, it would be quite easy once she found an animal.

She swiftly turned around and ran back into the forest to find the wolf something more to eat, and unlike she expected, it wasn't easy to find anything to eat, but she had no other option than to continue searching. Johanna stumbled upon a few rabits, but they didn't look like a good treat for the wolf since they were too small to be nourishing at all, so she decided to continue hunting for bigger game, but she was very unsuccessful for a while until she stumbled upon a small deer.

Once Johanna had found something killing, it would be the smallest problem; the deer had no chance. Johanna just threw a rock with a bit of her power against its head, which made it stumble and be confused. Taking this opportunity, Johanna attacked it with her fist and killed the deer with only a few punches to the head. Johanna dragged the body back to the wolf. That's when she realised how far she had travelled while on her hunt, but she still didn't have any problems finding her way back. Once she was back by the wolf, she offered the dead deer to the wolf, who rushedly devoured the whole thing. The wolf opened up to her a little bit since it started licking her as a thank you.

Then Johanna had a sudden idea, since there are only two things that wild beasts like: to eat and to reproduce. A little giggle escaped Johanna's lips, and once the wolf saw it, he tilted his head curiously.
