"Where do you think you are going?" demanded a voice from the shadows.
Caught off guard, by the gravelly voice, Charm started to walk faster.
She never even noticed the four men that were creeping up from behind to join their pal.
Until one grabbed her arm, hellbent on intimidating her.
They cackled at the sight of her fear, their laughter made her panic even more.
Charm screamed out in fear.
"We got a loud one," said another man.
"Gag her," said the leader, with that gruff voice.
Charm was being held while they stuffed a dirty rag into her mouth.
To prevent her from screaming any further.
She kneed the guy in front of her and he yelped in pain.
While his cronies laughed at his misfortune.
When the fallen could stand again he backhanded Charm and she fell to the ground.
By the time Charm scrambled to her feet.
The rag had fallen out of her mouth but she didn't even think to scream.
To her surprise, the guy that had assisted her earlier had come to her rescue yet again.
Had he been following her?
Or was it just a coincidence that they happened to be heading in the same direction.
Whatever the reason, she was grateful for his assistance.
She heard the sound of someone being knocked over but she was still being blocked by a big guy.
Charm couldn't see the fight clearly but it was five against one and she had to help him.
She took off her stiletto heels and did some damage.
For the most part, Charm felt blatantly ignored by the thugs.
These men weren't paying any mind to her jabs so she gave up.
As their focus seemed to be only on the guy facing them.
The street was deserted and there weren't any cars passing by that Charm could flag down for help.
When she saw the young man wield a knife and slashed open a guy's stomach.
She should have felt horrified by seeing her champion do such a cruel act but instead she wanted to cheer him on.
Something was off about these men, for example, the guy who initiated the fight, his blood was not the usual reddish color.
Instead he was oozing a toxic looking black liquid that he sprayed everywhere in his panic.
While that guy was trying to scoop up his blackened intestines he seemingly lost interest in fighting the young man.
Instead the thug was too busy trying to preserve the remainder of his life.
He asked his friends for help but none came to attend to him.
All of his friends were too busy trying to gang up on her savior.
The young man turned his attention to another and periodically destroyed his enemies one by one.
One of the men flung himself at her rescuer and the two of them went rolling on the ground.
His attacker also had a knife and her rescuer threw up his arm to block the slashes.
The knife stabbed through her savior's jacket splattering his red blood that dripped down his sleeves.
Her rescuer seemed unfazed.
As he ignored the gushing blood from his hand.
Then punched the man in the stomach with the very same hand.
Pain was nothing to the young man he had endured worse than that.
When his opponent's grip loosened, her savior gave him a head butt to disorient him.
Then he sunk his own knife into the man's skull.
Instinctively they knew that if they stuck around to help the two fallen cronies they would be next.
The remaining three guys, fearing for their lives, ran away.
If it wasn't for Charm the young man would have chased but her life was sacred and more important to him than anything else in this world.
"Thank you for saving me," she said while staring down at his boots and trying to escape his dark gaze.
There was just something so predatory about the way he kept looking at her.
He made her feel like a delicious treat that he wanted to eat.
"I'm happy that I could be of assistance and that I finally found you."
He said with a bright demeanor, which was the complete opposite of her own.
She was still trembling in shock from seeing him get rid of her attackers.
"I put you in danger,"
"I didn't get hurt."
She felt like there was a lump stuck in the back of her throat.
This lump was fear no matter how Charm tried to swallow it wouldn't go away unless she did something about it.
"We need to go to the police and report what happened tonight."
"Oh, there is nothing to report, you were being followed by some demons…and I took care of them for you isn't that right?"
"Demons…umm… What are you talking about? There are dead humans behind us, not demons."
He sighed, "you don't belong in my world yet. I'll wait patiently for you to make the right choice."
"Why are you being so cryptic?...What's…what's happening?" stuttered Charm.
She could not pull herself out of his strong grip.
The words to the incantation were louder but he was speaking so fast she couldn't make out the words properly.
Her struggle seemed to reinforce his hold on her and he whispered, "don't fight it, just relax."
Everything around her started swirling in a vortex when he began chanting very softly in her ears.
As her current reality swirled into darkness.
Charm began to feel like the world was closing in on her frightened she let out a loud scream.
His body started to glow and she could see his energy.
It seemed to reach out to her and dance playfully along her skin in an effort to calm her down.
She still didn't know his name yet and his face was next to hers.
His breath smelled minty fresh and his voice was soft and trance like when he said, "Go to sleep Charm. We'll meet again at Isla Serpiente someday."
