It was a pretty smooth flight despite experiencing a little pocket of turbulence for the first time.
She said a little prayer and relaxed with her airpods playing her favorite song.
Charm wasn't even aware when she drifted off to sleep but she had gotten up pretty early that morning to catch her flight.
The next time she woke the flight attendants were telling everyone to, "please be certain that your seat back is straight up and your seatbelt is fastened."
After Charm collected her luggage and exited customs, she wondered what to do next.
No one was more relieved than her when she spotted a tall guy.
Holding up a large sign with her name written in bold on it, CHARMAINE ALYSHAM.
Charm pointed to the sign and with a friendly smile said eagerly, "that's me."
"Nice to meet you Miss Alysham. I'm Brian Cummings and I'll be your escort to Isla Serpiente College & University."
"Pleased to meet you, just call me Charm," she suggested sweetly. He nodded.
Brian was a redhead with dark brown eyes and a huge nose that took up most of his face.
He might look nerdy but he seemed genuinely pleased to meet Charm.
Brian was not just being pleasant because it was his duty.
If she had to guess his age, maybe early twenties, he wore simple blue jeans and a navy blue polo shirt and plain white zadidas sneakers.
Standing beside him were two boys and a girl and the girl only spoke first because Brian elbowed her.
When Kat flashed her a fake smile where the warmth never reached her eyes.
Already Charm knew that she and Katie weren't going to be best friends anytime soon.
"Oh she's coming with us," the young lady exclaimed, "I thought she was here to help carry my luggage. By the way I'm Katherine Depass but everyone just calls me Kat."
She had a thick accent but Charm, who had never been outside of London's suburbs could not tell where she was from and Kat didn't volunteer the information either.
Her plastered smile disappeared faster than you can say pretty in pink.
Kat looked like just stepped down off the fashion runway in her fancy six inch pink bottom stilettos, matching pink Dewy Vuitton luggage, pink sundress and pink Chandel glasses.
Charm sincerely hoped that Kat was a fluke and that the other girls on the island won't act entitled like her.
The guy to the right of Kat said, "I'm Nate."
Obviously a man of few words.
Nate was huge in body size but it wasn't fat he was literally a wall of muscle.
Scholarship kid maybe, Nate looked like he played rugby and never lost a game
The way he hovered near Katie he could have passed for her bodyguard.
Or maybe he was just marking territory like he already had a crush on her?
Unlike the other two when the other young guy's heated gaze locked on her face it felt like electricity passed between them.
For a mere few seconds it felt like time stood still and it was just the two of them alone standing outside the departure gate at the airport.
The guy on Brian's left was even more reserved, after a few minutes passed and he still hadn't said a word it was Brian who broke the silence.
"This is Zinc, it will also be his first time as well. I hope you all get along well," he stopped to assist Pink Barbie with her largest stuffed suitcase.
Then Brian continued, "Now grab your things and let's head to the wharf. It's just a three minute walk from here and the ferry that we need to catch should arrive between the next ten to fifteen minutes."
Zinc, what a strange name Charm thought but it really seemed to fit that bad boy image he was trying to project.
Dressed in full black from head to toe, none of his clothes were branded.
He had shaggy black hair and dreamy brownish gold eyes and full kissable lips that many girls would envy.
Too bad it seemed to be locked in a permanent scowl.
As he walked away, she noticed something at the back of his neck.
When she managed to get a closer look she realized that it was a black tattoo with a snake and a thorny rose entwined around a sword.
It was made to look like the sword was descending into the back of his shirt and expertly drawn.
The walk was very short and still Kat complained the entire way.
When they arrived at the ticket booth they were told by the attendant, "Many apologies, the ferry should arrive shortly. It's running late and would be another thirty to forty minutes."
Kat squealed, "isn't that Hollywood's latest teen heartthrob Brendan Shakespeare."
They all looked in the direction she pointed and sure enough there was a handsome young blonde joking around with his friends on one of those fancy exclusive yachts.
The guys couldn't have cared less and turned their backs to continue their conversation about the new school.
Charm wanted to listen to their conversation but her eyes were drawn to where the young star and his friend were idling.
Then Kat exclaimed, "Don't just stand there, someone help Brendan he's fallen into the water."
She got all excited shouting and pointing in the general vicinity that they both saw Brendan fall.
"He hasn't come up for air yet, Brendan's gone overboard," yelled Kat. "He's going to drown if we don't do something."
"Calm down Kat, he's not alone, he's with friends, surely someone with sense over there will assist him," said Brian gently trying to console Kat.
Charm could see what Brian meant, the day so far was overcast, the water was dark and choppy.
Today was not a day to be out frolicking in the sea when it looked like a storm was brewing in the distance.
Kat was right the young man should have resurfaced by now.
Yet so far none of his friends were making any move to assist him; they were too busy arguing amongst themselves as to who was at fault.
Both her and Kat ran down the length of the pier in a bid to get closer to the yacht to get a closer look at what was happening.
Kat cried excitedly as they ran, "those idiots, none of them are willing to get wet to help him!"
