It was only a few seconds that had passed and Kat was screeching like the world was coming to an end.
"Don't get so worked up over a celebrity. He probably knows how to swim and if he doesn't then perhaps a trained lifeguard should be on board the yacht," said Charm reassuringly. "With his wealth he can more than afford it."
Kat looked around wildly while biting her nails trying but failing to spot Brendan beneath the waters.
The waves lapped furiously against the sides of the pier, creating white noise that added to the drama unfolding before their very eyes.
Frothy foamy whiteness of the waters left little to the imagination and attested to how turbulent the sea appeared.
"The sea is too rough," Kat whimpered. "I would help him if I bothered to learn how to swim. Charm you look like the type that can do that sort of thing, save him please, I beg you."
Kat loved her movies and the last movie Brendan starred in ended on a cliffhanger.
In her mind, if he dies, the movie franchise ends with him, that series just would not be the same without him.
Right now Charm wished she could ignore Kat's hysterical whining but her words rang true.
Brendan needed help and Charm had done a life saving course when she thought about earning extra money during summer vacation at the local community pool.
Inspired after binge watching Babewatch Teens Hawaii during the last miserably cold winter.
When she wished she could be sipping pina coladas on the beach instead of facing frostbite.
It was her civic duty to help a fellow drowning but the thought of diving beneath the cold waters made her shudder.
Still, Charm would need to do it while she could still see the young man's head bob beneath the waves, it was now or never.
She made the quick decision to strip down to her underwear before she changed her mind.
Good thing she wore her brand new matching blue sports bra set from Playflex and not her comfy grandma panties and wire rim bras that she usually wore to keep her B cups in check.
Charm didn't even ask Kat to hold her clothes and valuables; she just handed them over and dived into the icy waters.
Before Brian, who realized too late what Charm was about to do, could reach to stop her.
Going to swim class in the temperature moderated community swimming pool had nothing on the freezing arctic sea.
Charm had not mentally prepared herself enough for the shock to her system when the chill hit her entire body.
It was worse than a brain freeze from overindulging in ice cream.
She swam hard to the spot Charm last recalled seeing Brendan but he wasn't there.
After swan diving and looking around, nothing, she broke the surface of the water and inhaled heartily before plunging beneath the waters again.
She came up again for air, doing a mix of treading the water and doggy paddle, she called out to Kat, "do you see him?"
Kat, who was still hugging Charm's clothes tightly like her life depended on it, answered.
"Over there…oh my God… there's blood on his face.. He's going to die."
Charm looked in the direction Kat was pointing but didn't see at first because a huge wave pushed her back but when she swam some more that's when she saw him.
She watched his eyes close and Brendan started to sink beneath the waters like he had run out of stamina.
He was just a few meters ahead and sinking fast, his shiny blonde hair barely visible now.
She could save him, she just needed to push herself more, hold on Brendan, I'm coming, thought Charm mentally not that Brendan could hear her inner thoughts.
When she finally managed to get hold of him, he offered no resistance; he was totally out of it.
She raised his face back to the surface, so that his body could do what it did naturally, breathe.
Charm held his chin up with one arm while her other hand did a freestyle movement.
Her thought was to doggy paddle with them back to the pier where they could hopefully get some assistance.
It wasn't her imagination.
The water was getting even worse than before.
Just felt as if it was hitting her body and pushing her back and she knew better than to fight the waves.
She felt like her body was slowing down as she swam against the mighty waves.
It felt like she lost all sense of direction and could not even see the Pink Barbie anymore had she been swimming with Brendan in the opposite direction.
The arctic waters were freezingly cold and she had goosebumps everywhere, what made it worse it seemed Brendan had bumped his head.
That's why blood was all over his face, he seemed unconscious but at least he was still breathing.
All hope was not lost, she just had to get it together and swim as fast as she could both their lives depended on it.
By now help should have been on the way but still there was nothing out in the sea other than her and Brendan, both the yacht and the pier was out of sight.
Draining her energy to keep Brendan's head above the water and not panic at the same time.
"You fools," shouted Kat.
When she realized that the yacht was going in the opposite direction back to the pier instead of staying out at sea where Brendan had fallen.
She started running back up the length of the pier with Charm's stuff still in her hands to meet up with Brian and the others.
Meanwhile back on shore, Zinc yelled at the morons who were arguing amongst themselves.
Frustrated Zinc just reacted as he jumped from the pier onto the yacht.
"Turn the damn boat around you morons, don't you realize you're missing a friend!"
At first they looked confused and whatever they had been originally arguing about which wasn't who's going to save Brendan came to an end.
When they thought that if Brendan died they could be all possibly held legally responsible they quickly turned the yacht around to search the waters for their friend.
"They are over there," yelled Kat pointing in the vicinity when she last spotted the duo.
The engine of the yacht roared to life as they sped along the waters but when they searched and looked they saw no form of human life.
