Belle Rose knew she had the weekend and Monday before going to the castle on Tuesday. Fatima knew Belle Rose was nervous but overjoyed about finally going on a school trip. Mrs Sprocket left so she could contact Rocket and inform him that they were at the hotel. Fatima allowed Belle Rose to choose which bed she wanted to have, and Belle Rose chose the one near the window. They started unpacking, and Belle Rose ensured the overnight bag was next to her suitcase.
Fatima knew Belle Rose had been staying with Mrs Sprocket since Tuesday and that it was the best time of her life. Fatima and the other students contacted their parents. Belle Rose knew her parents would demand that she return home with her classmates or go to a wedding dress shop to try on dresses. Belle Rose wanted to show her parents that she would not do that and would follow her heart. Belle Rose went to the bathroom as Fatima was about to make a video call to her parents and did not want to be seen by Fatima's parents.
Especially by Fatima's mother, and Belle Rose looked into the mirror. She took some breaths and was able to relax. Fatima finished the video call with her parents and knocked on the bathroom door. Belle Rose walked out of the bathroom and discussed what they would do before Tuesday. Belle Rose knew and informed Fatima. Suppose they go to a war memorial and are allowed to have a look. She will find some family members and pay her respect to them.
They were able to finish unpacking and went downstairs for dinner. Belle Rose and Fatima knew that they could not trust their classmates. Because they knew that one of their classmates might spill the beans to Belle Rose's parents, and her parent would drag her back to France. Mrs Sprocket knew Belle Rose and Fatima were trying to be careful. But also not trusting their classmates about not informing Belle Rose's parents and hoping her parents would realise they had gone too far trying to control her life.
They returned to their hotel rooms after discovering what they would do between Tuesday and then. Belle Rose felt relieved knowing they were going to a war memorial and were about to find her family members. They all got a good night's sleep and were refreshed. They had breakfast in the dining room and got back on the coach. The coach made a stop at a service station, and Belle Rose was able to buy some flowers. Everyone had no idea why she was buying some flowers, apart from Fatima, Mrs Gloria, Mr Alvin and Mrs Sprocket. Belle Rose was able to get back on the coach and tried not to get emontional.
Fatima stroked Belle Rose's back as the coach went to the war memorial, and they got off the coach. They were allowed to walk around the war memorial, and Belle Rose had written the names of her family members. She and Fatima went to find them with the flowers Belle Rose had brought. Belle Rose laid flowers at each headstone and had a silent moment. Mr Alvin and Mrs Gloria walked over to them.
They knew Belle Rose was paying her respects to their family members for their sacrifice. They rejoined everyone, and Zoe asked, "What were you doing, and why did you buy those flowers?" Belle Rose stared at her and spoke. "I was paying my respects to my family members who joined to fight in the wars and bought those flowers to place at the headstones of my family members. I researched my family tree and discovered that I had family members who served in the wars. Coming here and paying my respects was the most minor thing I could do."
Everyone was stunned and realised she was showing respect to her family members. Belle Rose calmed her heart down and knew she had paid her respects. A staff member looking after the war memorial overheard what Belle Rose had said, and he was showing someone from the French military. They walked over to them, and the person from the French army asked. "Who was paying their respect to their family members who served for their country?"
Belle Rose turned around and replied. "I did, sir; I was paying my respects to my family members who served their country and thanked them for their service. I have the names of my family members with me, and do you want to see them?" The person from the French army looked at her, and he saluted her. It blew Belle Rose away, and she saluted back at him.
They lowered their right arm, and the person from the French army spoke. "First of all, thank you for your family's sacrifice and well done for paying your respect. Second, I have something for you: your family members' medals. Finally, you should be proud of your family. Have you got some members of your family with you?" Mr Alvin and Mrs Gloria stepped forward. They stood on either side of Belle Rose, and Mr Alvin spoke. "We are her family, sir, because I am her uncle, and Mrs Gloria is her aunt."
Everyone else, apart from Fatima, was stunned and speechless. The person from the French army gave Belle Rose her family members' medals, and Belle Rose opened the boxes. Belle Rose placed her right hand over her mouth and had tears in her eyes. Belle Rose was stunned to hold her family members' medals in her hands, and Mrs Gloria hugged her. They knew they were not expecting that, and Mr Alvin spoke. "Thank you, sir; I think my niece had no idea this would happen today, and I am trying not to get emotional."
"I think my niece would treasure this moment for the rest of her life, and I think the rest of the family would be overjoyed to know Belle Rose has got the medals. I know my parents and Mrs Gloria's parents will be over the moon to know their family members have been given medals for their service."
