Edward then bid goodbye to Lee before he left the garage. Today was quite an interesting day. He had seen a small potential of the system and he was coming to appreciate the assistance it gave.
He could have spoilt the car but he took the chance and it paid off. Also what was Lee talking about with Jim and what did it have to do with him. He was confused and excited at the same time. He was excited to go back and tell Kleo all about his day.
Edward slowly walked on the street. It was in the night and the streets were quiet and void. He could not see any people on the street. All he could see were stray dogs and cat running about. They were bumping into trash cans while chasing each other.
The weather was chilly but Edward had not taken heavy clothing so he was feeling cold. He dug his hands into his pockets and started to rub them against his thighs. As he walked down the street he could she a street light that was flickering on and off.
He could vaguely see a figure underneath the street light. As he got closer, his sight was proven to be true. There was a man who look to be in his early thirties sitting under the light. He walked over to the man and called out to him but there was no response.
He moved closer to the man and gently tapped him but still there was no response. Because of that he gently moved the man from one side to another and finally there was a response. The man jolted awake and stared at Edward.
He then flashed a smile and said, "Hi there! How are you". The man had a very distinct accent that Edward knew of but could not put his finger on it. "Hi, my name is Edw...", before Edward could finish his sentence the man interrupted. "You are Edward Cash. The ex owner of MEGATECH.", the man said.
Before Edward left the garage he disabled the [masked] skill so that Kleo would know it is him. He didn't want to tell her about the system for now. He still had a long way to go before he started to trust people again.
"What are you doing in this cold weather on the street?", Edward asked incredulously. A worried and sad look appeared on the man's face. He remained silent for a while before he started to elucidate.
"My story is quite similar to yours you see. I had a wife who I taught to be loyal but I ended up being wrong. I had a chain of shops and had gained quite a following and status. I had wealth and happiness. My wife found a man and started to cheat on me. I found out but because I loved her I wanted her to see her wrong doings and come back but instead she stole the documents to all my businesses and changed all my passwords. She also kicked me out of my own house. I had nowhere else to go so I decided to settle here.", the man said.
"I also had a feeling that I must sit here and it seems that feeling was spot on because I have met you", the man said. Most people would have thought that he was just rating about but Edward could feel that this man knew what he was saying. Anything Edward looked at the man he was drawn towards his eyes. The eyes of the man held a massive amount of wisdom gained from experience due to maturity.
His smile carried an aura of comfort and assurance. "So what you doing now after your betrayal?", the man asked Edward. "I work at the garage down the street and I live just down the street. Do you need any financial support? Maybe a dollar or two?, Edward asked.
The man seemed to be thinking then he said, " Give me three different dollar bills." The request seemed to be unusual but Edward still complied and put his hand into his pocket and pulled out three different bills and gave it to the man.
They talked for a while then Edward proceeded to head back home but as he took a few steps, he was called by the man who said," Carl... Carl is my name." Edward smiled and continued to walk forward.
