Lilia's POV
Once we arrived at the entrance of the city, I flew down at the checkpoint gate and placed Dora on the ground.
We both walked up to the guards at the gate, but I noticed that everyone was looking at me and Dora while whispering to each other.
I ignored them and approached the two guards at the checkpoint gate with Dora by my side. When I reached them, the two guards looked at me in shock.
"Wait! Dark white hair, twin tails, and a dress like that of a noble with her unparalleled beauty! Are you the new A-rank adventurer Lilia by chance?"
One of the gate guards asked me. I was confused about how he knew me, but I still answered him.
"I am, and this is my partner Dora. We just returned from a mission we took yesterday."
The moment I answered, everyone in the line burst out in uproar. They were talking and whispering about me as if I were some kind of celebrity. It honestly made me uncomfortable, but I endured it.
"So it is you. Please go right in. A person of my level is not worthy of stopping you,"
The other guard gestured for me and Dora to enter the city.
I nodded to him and entered the city with Dora still clinging to my right hand. I've gotten used to it, so it doesn't bother me anymore.
As we walked inside the city, everyone would look at me and talk to their friends while pointing at me. Even the children were trying to run up to me, but their friends or parents would hold them back.
I still don't understand how I got this well-known in just a day, but I didn't pay it any mind. I didn't, but Dora certainly did.
"Fufufufuu... It feels like I am walking with a celebrity."
"Don't start, Dora. I don't understand how this happened either, you know."
"It must have something to do with you being the only A-rank adventurer in this city, Lili~chan."
"You could be right about that."
So we walked to the guild and entered the guild building. Once we stepped in, many cheers began to ring out from everywhere.
"Look! It's the new A-rank of the guild!"
"Man, to think that someone so young would be an A-rank."
"This is giving me the desire to enter a dungeon and kill some monsters to level up."
"That explains how she was able to beat Sinji with one punch yesterday."
"Sinji should thank the gods that he didn't die from her punch."
And so, the noise continued. I walked into the guild and moved to the receptionist counter with Dora following by my side. I looked and saw that only Rita was working today, so I approached her.
"Hey Rita, we're back from our mission."
"Hey Lilia and Dora. You two have some explaining to do,"
Rita said to us in amusement. I nodded to her, already having an idea of what she might ask, but Dora didn't.
"What happened? We didn't do anything, Rita."
"Oh, you didn't, Dora! Then explain the massive mana pretty much everyone in the kingdom felt and the shockwaves that shook the entire kingdom. This happened yesterday night, and only an A-rank powerhouse is strong enough to cause such a commotion."
She got me there. I wasn't planning on denying it, but it was still embarrassing for me.
"Just what did you two fight during that B-rank mission?"
"Demons."
"What?!"
Rita stood up in shock with a frightened look, but I calmed her down in order not to draw more attention to us.
"Calm down Rita. I will explain everything to you later. Right now, I want to report about the success of the mission and report about the demon to the guild master."
Rita sat back down in her chair and nodded.
"Very well. I will call the guild master for you two. In the meantime, please hand over the evidence of the completed mission so that I can mark it as complete."
I nodded and transferred the dead Direwolves to a space ring I created and handed it over to Rita.
Rita looked at me strangely as she took the space ring from me. It must be because space rings was very expensive and cost many gold coins, but I casually handed one to her like it was nothing. If only she knew I created that ring with my magic, she would have vomited blood on the unfairness of the world.
After verifying the contents of the ring and confirming that it was ok, Rita marked my mission as complete and kept the poster in the pile of completed missions. She brought out our reward money of 50 silver coins and handed it to Dora before she returned my ring to me.
After that, Rita asked us to wait in the waiting room for her to go and call the guild master.
I nodded, and both Dora and I left the room and entered the waiting room where we sat down and waited for the guild master to call us.
3rd POV
As Lilia and Dora waited for the guild master, Lilia brought out her Guild card and saw that it had been updated with the mission completion.
"I didn't think that the guild card marks our completed missions."
Dora looked at Lilia. "Of course, it does. That way, people in other guilds will get the updates since all Guilds are connected under one system."
"That makes sense," Lilia nodded. "By the way, what do you think is keeping the Guild master?"
"Who knows! He is the guild master, so he is bound to have a lot of work on his plate."
Right after Dora said that, Rita entered the waiting room and asked us to follow her. We followed her and climbed some stairs before arriving at the guild master's office door, which was on the second floor of the guild building.
Rita knocked, and we heard "come in" before we all entered the office room. The room was spacious with bookshelves on all sides of the room. At the end of the room was the guild master's table and chair, which was beside the office window.
Rita bowed after Lilia and Dora had entered the room before she closed the door and left. Lilia looked up and saw the Guild master standing with his back to them and his front facing the window.
The Guild Master, Frederick, cuts an imposing figure as he oversees the bustling activities of the adventurer's guild. Despite his age, his physique speaks of a life dedicated to physical training and combat prowess. With a rugged appearance and a weathered countenance, Frederick exudes an aura of seasoned experienced B-Rank. His slightly graying hair adds to his distinguished appearance, framing a face marked by the lines of countless battles and challenges faced. Yet, beneath his stern exterior, there's a hint of warmth and wisdom in his eyes, a testament to his role as a mentor and guide to the guild's members. Overall, Frederick's presence commands respect, embodying the ideals of strength, leadership, and integrity that define the guild's values.
"Thank you for coming. Please take a seat, you two,"
The Guild master said still facing the window.
Dora and Lilia nodded and sat down at the chairs on the other side of the guild master's table.
The Guild master turned around and looked at Dora then at Lilia. When his eyes met Lilia's, he became shocked at seeing her face.
Lilia, who noticed this, was confused.
"Is there something wrong?"
The Guild master shook his head to regain his focus before sitting down on his chair, which was opposite from Lilia and Dora's chair.
"Please forgive me for that. Is just that your face looks exactly like a person I used to know that I became shocked,"
The Guild master explained to them.
Lilia nodded. "No worries. Some people usually have the same face, so it is understandable."
The Guild master smiled. "Well, in any case, my name is Frederick, and I am the Guild master of this place. You are Lilia and Dora, the new A and B-rank adventurers who joined my guild."
"That's right, sir," Dora answered. "We would like to report our encounter on the mission we took yesterday."
The Guild master Frederick nodded.
And so, Lilia and Dora explained their encounter with demons on their mission. When Lilia explained that the demon she faced was a demon Duke, the guild master was visibly shocked at that, but he still paid attention to the story until the end.
After they were done explaining, Frederick sighed.
"To think that a high-ranking demon like a demon Duke managed to sneak into the human realm. We can only count ourselves lucky that you took that mission yesterday. How strong would you say the demon Duke you faced was, Lilia?"
"In my honest opinion, he was very weak. His strength was not up to the hype he got, but he did have a sacred treasure axe that was very powerful. The lightning from that axe was very powerful, and I reckoned that it would have destroyed the entire kingdom if our battle weren't in the sky," Lilia explained.
Frederick laughed at that.
"Only you can call a demon Duke weak, Lilia, but considering your original specs, it is to be expected. Anyway, about the axe, did you manage to retrieve it?"
"Yes, I did. Here it is,"
Lilia opened a spatial portal in front of her and took out the axe she took after she killed Aldinach.
Guild master Frederick had a gobsmacked look after seeing Lilia open a spatial portal in front of his eyes. Dora, on the other hand, shook her head at Lilia's lack of common sense.
After Lilia placed the axe on his table, Frederick looked at the axe and then at Lilia.
"Spatial magic is an advanced spell that only one of the ten S-Ranks, the female mage, can use, and you used it casually! This is honestly shocking and exciting at the same time."
'You mean it is that big of a deal. Spatial magic was one of the first spells I mastered after I got my powers. I didn't think it was a spell that people can't use since it was easy for me to learn it. I honestly thought it was common, but I guess not,' Lilia thought to herself.
Dora looked at the way the Guild master was looking at Lilia in excitement and got upset.
"Since we are done with our report, we will take our leave."
Guild master Frederick snapped out of his excitement.
"Oh right. Once again, thank you, A-rank adventurer Lilia, and B-rank adventurer Dora, for your contribution in protecting this kingdom. I will report to the king so that he can increase the soldiers at the border."
"Don't mention it. We will take our leave now."
Lilia and Dora stood up and left the Guild master's office.
After they left, Guild master Frederick sighed and leaned into his chair while looking up at the ceiling.
"To think I will see that face again. The face of my dear friend Alex Cromwell. I wonder if Lilia has any connection with him. I'll ask her next time when I get the opportunity. And her power! She might be the trump card the human realm needs to resist the demon king. Her power is impressive but she will need more of it if she hopes to win against the demon king."
'And that Dora, according to the report I gathered on her, she was born with nine tails, but has yet to awaken her powers. If she can awaken her powers, then the human race will have a new S-rank on our side. And if she can awaken the legendary ten-tails, she could be our second trump card when the human realm faces the demon king. Lilia and Dora, those two could be the answer that the human realm desperately needs for this war to end.'
After thinking that, the Guild master got to work on writing a letter to the king of Eclipsora Kingdom to inform him of what he learned about the demons.
