Lilia and Dora were both standing at the entrance of a dungeon. They took a B-rank quest to retrieve a Red Ruby Crystal from the last explored floor of the Abis dungeon. The dungeon was a week's journey from the Guild towards the east side in the mountains, but Lilia and Dora got there in three days with the help of flight magic. They would have gotten there faster, but Lilia slowed down her speed in order not to cause harm to Dora.
The dungeon's huge doors were opened, and many adventurers were entering and leaving from the dungeon.
Lilia's POV
I watched the dungeon in excitement.
"This is it, Dora. Our first dungeon quest."
Dora nodded. "Indeed it is. Our objective is located on the 15th floor, which is the last floor that has been explored since this dungeon was discovered."
That obviously confused me. I know that dungeons usually have up to 25 floors, but only fifteen have been explored in this one.
"Why have only fifteen floors been explored, Dora?"
"Well, it makes sense when you think about it. Dungeons usually get harder the more floors you descend, and that 15th floor is the limit a B-rank adventurer can handle. Since no A-rank is available in our adventurers' guild before you, it was impossible for any adventurer to go down to the 16th floor. Some have tried, but died from the monsters there from what I've heard," Dora explained.
"If that is the case, then why hasn't the guild hired an A-rank adventurer to explore the dungeon?"
I mean the guild could have hired an A-rank adventurer to explore the dungeon for them if they really wanted to explore this dungeon.
"I don't think the guild has the funds for that. You are an exception because of your character and lack of interest in money, but hiring an A-rank adventurer for a job usually costs many gold coins and it will be higher depending on the difficulty of the job. Adventurers' Guilds without an A-rank adventurer are usually not that rich compared to guilds with A-rank adventurers," Dora explained to me.
Hmmm. That's interesting to know. That explains why Rita and the other adventurers were happy when I announced that I'll be taking the B-rank dungeon quest. They must have been hoping that I will explore and conquer the Abis dungeon since I'm an A-rank adventurer.
I smiled and looked at Dora. Dora, who saw my smile, sighed.
"You want to explore the entire floors of this dungeon, don't you?"
I nodded at her in excitement. "Isn't exploring the unknown one of the duties of us adventurers?"
"It is, but..." Dora looked unsure before she shook her head and made her resolve. "Oh well! We can explore all the floors if you want. You are powerful enough to do it and I'll be with you in case I run into a monster I can't handle."
"Good. Without further ado, let's go."
I entered the dungeon along with Dora. All the other adventurers we met on the way usually bowed to us as we moved to the first floor. This is a sign of respect they show to someone who's rank is higher than theirs.
Arriving at the first floor, Dora and I looked around and saw a lot of horned rabbits that numbered up to a hundred.
Name: Horned Rabbit
Rank: D
I really don't have an interest in handling these weak monsters. "Dora, you kill them."
Dora nodded at me and brought out her two fans. The Horned Rabbits saw us and began to run at us, baring their teeth.
Dora whispering an incantation, stepped her right foot on the floor, and the entire room got frozen along with all the horned rabbits in it. She raised her fans and disappeared, then reappeared at the other end of the room. All the ice rabbits that were frozen were shattered in that instance she disappeared.
It may look like she disappeared from the eyes of others, but I could see what happened clearly. She ran at an incredible speed while using both of her fans to slash all the frozen rabbits. I usually forget this due to how cute she is, but Dora is also a ridiculously powerful girl.
She turned to me and smiled. "How did I do, Lili~chan?"
I don't know what came over me, but I moved to her and kissed her on her forehead and brought my face out to look at her red blushing face.
"You look beautiful, Dora, and very strong."
"Geez, Lili~chan." Dora blushed and used her hand to hide her face in embarrassment. "At least warn me before you kiss me out of the blue like that."
I smiled at how adorable Dora is before I took her hand in mine. "You are so cute. Come on, let's keep going down the dungeon."
Dora didn't say anything and just followed me, blushing as we moved.
And so, Dora and I explored the dungeon floors. We encountered and killed monsters of different kinds ranging from Killer bats, Imps, Grass Heads, Sky sharks, etc. All the monsters were D to C rank threats. We stopped encountering fellow adventurers when we reached the 9th floor.
When we reached the 11th floor, we stopped and looked around the room and saw a horde of Goblins. The goblins were all human-sized, with some of them being as big as an elephant. One goblin at the back was different from the other goblins. The goblins were all green in color while that one at the back was black in color and its size was bigger than the elephant-sized goblins by a few inches.
For the Goblins
Name: Goblins
Rank: C
For the elephant-sized Goblins
Name: Hobgoblins
Rank: C++
For the black Goblin
Name: Black Goblin King
Rank: B
I watched all the goblins in the room with an impressed look.
"Their number is certainly impressive."
"I agree. It will take a while for us to kill all of them by hand," Dora told me.
"That one at the back is obviously their king."
I was referring to the black Goblin at the end of the room.
Dora readied her fans. "Let's begin, Lili~chan. This will certainly be a workout."
I too got into my battle stance. "Ara~ I'm always ready, Dora."
I dashed to the horde of Goblins in the room. As I approached the unsuspecting goblins, I punched out. The force and shockwave from my punch went on a straight line and blasted all the goblins at its line into pieces. Be it the Hobgoblins or regular goblins, none were spared from the shockwave of my fist.
After that, I coated my fist in lightning and began to punch out at the panicking Goblins, turning them to charcoals while sending lightning everywhere.
Dora was not slacking behind either. She used her fans and began to send ice spears and wind blades at the goblins, turning them into frozen piles of meat then shattering them with the wind blades.
The goblins began to retaliate, but their efforts were futile in front of Dora and me.
After about thirty minutes of killing the Goblins, I saw that their number was still about 500. I immediately flew up in the air and shouted, "Dora, take cover!"
Dora looked up at me and hurriedly jumped up in the air and landed at the entrance of the 11th floor where we came from.
After I confirmed that Dora was at a safe distance, I raised my hand in the air. Following that, a massive blue magic circle appeared above the entire 11th floor.
"I call this magic Light Saber."
Following that, the magic circle glowed a bright white color, and a wall of light descended from the magic circle to the goblins. Screams filled the entire 11th floor as all the goblins were vaporized to dust.
Dora covered her eyes because the light was too bright for normal eyes to see into. After the light died down, Dora looked and saw that all the goblins including the Dark Goblin King had all been vaporized and in their place was a giant hole on the 11th floor.
I flew down to where Dora was and smirked at her. "How was my new spell?"
Dora sighed. "Overpowered as always. You are beyond common sense, you know that!?"
"Ara~ I'll take that as a compliment, my sweetheart. Come on, I'll take you to the 15th floor. It seems my spell made a hole all the way down to the 15th floor. We better hurry before the dungeon auto repair kicks in" I told Dora as I picked her up bride style.
I flew down into the hole with Dora in my arms until we arrived at the 15th floor. We couldn't find any monster on the floor because my light saber had probably vaporized them as well.
"I heard that the 15th floor was filled with B+ monsters, but it was still weak compared to the monsters I've seen in the monster forest."
"Here's our objective."
Dora left my arms and ran to an altar in the room where some Red Ruby Crystals were. She picked them up and placed them in her bag.
While she was doing that, I moved to the second entrance in the room. The steps of the entrance leads downward.
"Are you really planning on exploring the lower floors? I know you are strong, but you're not invincible," Dora asked while she came close to me.
I turned to her and smirked. "I used to train in the monster forest for two years before I met you. Compared to that, what can this Abis dungeon monsters offer me!?"
Dora sighed and took my hand in hers. "It doesn't matter. I did promise to accompany you and I don't plan on stopping now."
I smiled and looked back at the entrance. "Then let's go."
And Dora and I descended to the unknown floors of the dungeon.
At the lowest part of the Abis dungeon
A male demon of average height was seen running towards a throne and kneeling in front of that throne.
"Sir Belphegor! We have an intruder!" The demon who was kneeling screamed.
The demon named Belphegor who was seated on the throne looked at the kneeling demon. "Who are the intruders?"
"Sir, it was two adventurers. One is a female human and the other is from the fox tribe," The kneeling demon answered.
"Fox tribe? Weren't they all killed by us demons a while back?" Belphegor asked in confusion.
"I don't know, sir, but those two are making their way to the 16th floor as we speak," The kneeling demon said in a panicked voice.
"Interesting!" Belphegor stood up in excitement. "Since they are confident enough in coming down here, then one of them must be an A-rank. It has been a while since I last killed an A-rank from the human realm. If those two make it to this floor, I'll show them why I, Belphegor, am the Demon Duke closest to becoming a Demon General."
The room was then filled with the laughter of the demon Duke Belphegor as he awaits the coming threat.
