Although I knew that there was no need to force my neck and head to take a peek at the entity since I was going to die anyway, I still did so and with a lot of enthusiasm too. After all, I had nothing better to do anyway, plus I was simply curious!
However, soon enough, I was speechless at what I was watching, "No wonder he easily broke my spine! That's a f*cking big guy! If my senses weren't limited, the moment I spotted him I would have teleported back! Like hell nah I wouldn't be fighting that! If it's a magician, I can at least hope to get close and have a chance of winning! But this guy?! But this guy?! I need to be a magician for that, cause a damn sword would not work, would it?! Just give me an AK-47 damn it!"
I felt similar to a dying man who was desperate to live, like an old man who had a lot to complain about the unsatisfying future that he was living in.
At the same time, I recalled another person, "Sutow… Looks like he will also be in trouble. Damn it!"
Not too far from the giant who seemed to be slightly taller than seven feet, was Sutow. Fortunately, Sutow had a chance of surviving as long as he didn't get too close to the entrance of the building. The chances of him walking away from the entrance were slim, however.
The Worst scenario is that he would call for me, looking for me, but drawing the attention of that giant instead!
'Ugh… That too.' Now that I was aware that the hearing also gets limited after teleporting, I knew I couldn't warn Sutow about the giant. Initially, I had wanted to warn Sutow while drawing the giant that already had his attention on me, towards me.
Remembering that my hearing was also limited when my vision was, I quickly had to give up on that idea. I was willing to sacrifice my life since I was going to die anyway, but even that I couldn't do…
'Come on… Think! Think of something! There has to be something I can do! What's the bare minimum that I can at least do?...'
While watching Sutow stand in place, I wrecked my brain to figure out what to do for him to avoid the giant once he'd start moving.
At the moment, the giant was still staring at me, seemingly neutral. I wasn't sure why he hadn't come to finish me off.
'Perhaps, he thinks I am dead?' I pondered the possibilities. 'or, maybe, he doesn't want to bother dirtying his hands and is simply watching me for the sake of wanting to confirm my death. Wow…' I thought in speechlessness.
My eyes widened when I saw how the scene before me continued to fold. 'Wait, no way!'
The guy whose eyes I had punctured earlier, while the giant was idle and staring at me, this guy suddenly stood up before running blindly towards the giant. After the guy knocked himself against the lower body of the giant, he then bit one of those saggy and soft-belly mountains of the giant!
The giant was too chill to recognize the guy as an enemy quick enough, and as a result, he was bitten!
'No way! No way! Now we have a giant as a zombie too?!' My eyes widened in shock. I was baffled.
The giant roared, I guessed finally he felt the sensation of teeth piercing through his flesh. Enraged, he aggressively pushed away the robed figure that was biting his belly tightly, risking the chance that his skin might tear off as a result.
As expected, a bit of his skin did get torn off. That good piece of flesh stayed in the mouth of the robed figure, while the giant was left with a hideous wound. It was quite the barbaric scene I was witnessing, and I hated every part of it.
If I had to choose, I'd much prefer clean cuts or a simple shot of a gun or bow, rather than this whole mess of torn flesh and a guy who has a mouth full of blood.
Unfortunately, I had to witness the gruesome sight. I watched as the giant looked at the robed figure with a face full of confusion. Then, I heard him say words of anger. "You lunatic! Why would you hurt reinforcement?!" The giant screamed out loud. I was able to understand him, and when I realized this I couldn't help but think, 'He's the same kind as me!... But why did he call himself the reinforcement of my enemies?' I immediately thought next, as I remembered the words I heard him say not too long after I had realized that I could understand him through that weird magical way that my kind seems to be inherently capable of doing.
'Could it be… That is who we are meant to be? Is he the hound of those who keep us captive? So my guess about the goals of those above was correct. Hm…'
I stopped my thoughts as the scene had me come up with an idea. The robed figure was no longer an ally of that giant, which meant that that giant had his focus shifted away from me. I didn't know if the giant would still treat me as an enemy after getting betrayed by the one protected, however. I couldn't bet on the chance that I was safe from receiving another fist of his.
But, this didn't mean that I was doomed to die like I had initially thought. With the giant being distracted by the robed figure and with him fated to become a zombie soon, I could try making my way to my followers to guide them towards the safety that they need while they're blinded.
Although the chances of succeeding in this plan were slim, due to my fractured spine and because of the unknown and unexpected possibilities that might occur after the giant's zombification, I had hope. I figured I was going to die anyway, which is why I went with this plan, this choice.
