Chapter 37 - Chaos erupts

"Rahh!"

I saw it all happen beside me, as I struggled to turn my head to see what was going on, to see what that ringing sound did to my followers!

The angle that I was in allowed me to see only Hazel and another one of my followers, but that was enough for me to get a clue of what was happening to my followers. Apparently, the sound of that ringing bell had struck something within them.

'Those parasites!' I was immediately reminded while witnessing the transforming state of Hazel.

Hazel! She was becoming that undead-like monster once again.

'I thought I had solved that problem before, but it seems like those worms are still in her. No, not just in her but in every one of my followers!'

While looking at the girl who wasn't too far from Hazel, whose body was spasming, I thought, 'She is not turning into some monster though…' Even though I wasn't affected in the least by the ringing of the bell, the girl's mind seemed affected. As for Hazel, both her body and mind seemed to have been affected.

'Is this some kind of immunity thing?'

At this moment, I realized that I was the only one who didn't show any signs of being affected by that thing.

'That's no good...' I was aware that being the only special one would definitely not be the best thing to present to my enemies.

'Quick!' I knew I had to act immediately before it was too late, but I started hesitating because I knew it was already too late for me to suddenly act differently. I could see it in the eyes of the man who was holding onto my neck! He was planning to kill me for being a complete obstacle to his plans!

"Tsk." I clicked my tongue after the man had suddenly thrown me towards the ground. My assumption was right. The man was going to kill me for being an irregularity that not only resisted their mental attack but was also smart enough to move like an Alpha-wolf.

I saw the man moving his hand towards his sword that was sheeted next to his waist. However, before he could unsheathe his sword, something he had not expected occurred.

Hazel went wild. She stopped groaning in place to charge at the closest person to her and that was the guy who had kicked her earlier. Like the man before me, he too had not expected the sudden change in her actions.

Hazel rushed the same way she had back then when I first met her. With her claw-like nails, she struck the man who had his guard down! What I witnessed, what everyone witnessed, was the very same thing that I had imagined would have happened to me back then had I not been cautious.

The guy, or better described, the man who was so naked to the claws of hers, had his chubby, thirty percent body fat, belly scratched all too easily.

'He really chose a bad day to wear like those spartan warriors that run around with a cape and equipment alone…' I thought as I cringed at the sight.

Out of everyone, he was the only one amongst his pals who wore not a single piece of armor, and by luck, he too was the only one who just had to be in the face of the zombie with infectious claws.

'Let's just hope that Hazel is not a zombie. Wouldn't want to deal with a zombie apocalypse this soon, really…' I prayed.

"Ah!" One attack was quickly followed by another.

After the guy was struck at his barely visible abs, another set of claws came at his chest before he was given time to digest the pain. What followed next was Hazel burying all of her claws on the top of his arms to leverage herself up towards the guy's neck. She bit the man's neck without hesitation before pulling out flesh and bones for her to lavish on.

Her mouth was a whole mess, as blood oozed out of the guy's neck uncontrollably, spurting all over her face whenever she moved the guy's head around to have more space while continuing to dine on his neck.

The guy tried to get rid of her like a leech that was stuck to him, but for some reason, he couldn't. Her moving his head around to her will, showed enough how strangely strong she had gotten out of nowhere. The man who had a bigger body compared to hers could not compete against the little girl's strength which came from hunger. Abnormal hunger…

'This is a nightmare. An absolute nightmare!' I screamed inside my mind.

I was worried about that surreal strength that Hazel had gotten out of nowhere. It terrified me, knowing that she might be a zombie, a zombie with super abilities!

My eyes turned back to the man who still had his hand on the handle of his sword.

Like me a second ago, he was frozen from the sight next to him, his head filled with lots of thoughts that are probably different from mine. Perhaps he was already aware of the existence of zombies, or perhaps this scenery before him was completely unexpected and unfamiliar to his knowledge. I couldn't know his thoughts, neither did I want to know them at that moment.

What I wanted was to run instead. Run and prepare for the worst scenario that I had not even once thought of. A zombie apocalypse with zombies that have supernatural strength and abilities!

"Sutow, everyone! Bear throu-" I was about to tell every one of my followers to bite through the pain and follow me, however, someone closer to them disturbed my words completely!

"That's it! We need to eat! It'll get rid of the pain! Come one! Look at Hazel already being ahead of us!"

It was Sutow who interrupted my words. He gave a plan that would just make everything chaotic that… I had to be louder! I had to stop them before they made the situation into a complete mess!

"Guys, no! Don't do th-!"

It was late! I was not able to stop them, unfortunately…
