Chapter 39 - I miss the rage

The guy was pathetic! I did not think he was much of an opponent. Having thrown his head into the ground, I felt sorry.

For a second, the fact that he might be a bystander who was called here for the sole purpose of activating that bell did occur to me. However, I quickly got rid of such sympathetic thoughts as I knew I had no choice but to be violent or peaceful in the heat of the battle!

Besides, earlier, I had in fact shown the guy mercy by knocking him out as quickly as possible without hurting him too much. At least, I believed to have done so…

After doing that, I did not dwindle around. I knew how important it is to stay alert in an ongoing battle. So at that moment, when I still had yet to confirm the state of the rest of my enemies, I could not allow myself a break.

Immediately, I turned my head to see how things were going so far on Sutow's side. There I saw the utter defeat of my followers. Every one of them who had been munching on that swordsman was all on the ground, presumably hit hard by that abnormally fast guy.

'I don't think I can compete against him.' I was reminded of the guy's burst of speed after seeing my followers all lying defeated on the ground. 'It seems I'll have to use my trump card…'

I picked up the bell that wasn't too far from me and threw it at the swordsman. I did not throw it at the fast guy because not only would that be useless due to his speed, the limits of which I'm still unaware, but also because he's not the leader.

As for why I threw it at that boss guy, that's because he was giving orders earlier, plus he was pathetically injured to the point that he would go on an outrage from having a bell thrown at him.

It was a game of psychology. My only advantage before the trump card was against opponents stronger than me. There was no other way, as it was the only stratagem that could aid me in a fight where I had no advantage in power and knowledge.

I used the situation of that boss guy to my advantage by slightly manipulating and playing with his emotions, and the outcome was to my expectations.

"Nam hem!"

The guy threw a tantrum as he yelled at his subordinate while pointing his finger at me. I guessed he told his subordinate to grab hold of me or to kill me…

Without a second of delay, I sprinted off towards the building where I had hidden the sword. I had to use my trump card now that I met with the most difficult opponent.

It was now or never!

As I looked behind me to estimate how long I had before the guy would catch up to the distance I was away from him, my eyes widened.

The guy was already behind me, and as if wanting to play with me, he just had to grab onto my hair only after I looked behind to discover him right in front of my face!

My head was brought to the ground to be dragged around like a wop meant for scrubbing the floor. The guy started speaking a bunch of nonsense that I couldn't understand as he started using my head as a hammer.

As a result, my nose broke. My mouth and eyes got filled with dirt. This was a disaster, a hopeless outcome for me after all of the preparations I had done. At this point, all those preparations could be deemed as pointless efforts!

*Crack*

"Ah!"

I heard my bones breaking through my ears and my body. My arms were lying beside my head. The man crushed the left one with his foot, right near the elbow which rendered this arm of mine to become completely useless. The pain took over me, but I bit through it as I knew that crying in agony and putting my focus on the pain would result in nothing.

'If I'm going to die, so be it! But I won't die getting ridiculed in this manner! I'll f*cking kill you!'

There was no way I would allow myself to take this guy's mockery without showing any form of resistance. 'What's the point of showing weakness when I've already tasted death!'

At this moment, after having my arm stomped on, I was boiling with rage and hungry for vengeance. It wasn't vengeance against what the guy did just now. It was vengeance against how life treated me back on Earth, and now, it was the rage against how life treated me in this world.

'No more! If injustice is allowed on me, then I can very well commit injustice too!'

With the only functional hand that I had left, I leveraged my body to bring my head towards the guy like a snake would. Without any sensation of holding back, I buried my teeth deep into the guy's leg after managing to get a bite of it.

'Finally! Finally, I can tear off a motherf*cker instead of pushing all this damn stress into weights!'

I sunk my teeth deeper as a sense of relief took over me. A sense of finally being free, now that I had let go of all my pent-up stress through the act and desire to aim to kill.

But I knew I could not stay like this for more than a second. Biting the guy is just a simple form of resistance. It wouldn't wound him badly nor would it kill him. That's why I stopped biting the guy the moment I felt him trying to shake his leg to shake me off.

I was already aware that he didn't have speed-enhancing magic but that he was using something like the wind to propel himself instead.

This much was obvious to me after several clues such as the burst of winds and his slow reaction speed. Perhaps he had expected me to be like the other kids who would keep on biting and even start chewing, or perhaps I had timed things just right thanks to all of the clues I had so far.

This man, I could say for sure, had not expected to find himself on the ground all of a sudden!
