Seeing these wyverns, as they were known, made me reflect on the enderdragon, which many describe as the ultimate Minecraft villain.
That quadrupedal dragon was purple and supremely difficult to kill unless you had mods or were creative. I knew there were dragon eggs on the menu, but whether I could hatch them was a different matter, so I might ask the librarians or the witches whether they knew of a special case where one had been hatched.
After the huge ships unloaded the hundreds of animals, I set about gaining their loyalty with the help of the book of enchantment, then moving on to healing them of some hidden wound, or in the case of the wyverns, giving them regeneration potions to regrow their wings.
After that, taking them out of their cages and directing them to their enclosure was a simple task—a great giant dome of more than 160 thousand square meters, full of dense vegetation, deep artificial lakes, and high mountains where they could be comfortable.
It was a perfect place for them, besides having ordered them not to attack the humans that entered the dome unless they attacked them, which I did because, as these animals would be annexed to the army, being in contact with humans was necessary, which would give way to a prehistoric version of an air force.
The help of trainers would be needed to train them for that, as well as introduce them to blacksmiths to design armor according to their size and weight. Along with bringing in the personnel who would be the wyvern riders.
After accommodating the wyverns and dropping them at specific points where dozens of creatures generate with the cow generator in them, I decided to move on to the other beasts.
So flying to shorten time, I left the dome and arrived at a section similar to the one with the wyverns; only this one had meadows and valleys, and although it was also protected by a dome, this area had no mountains.
This area was the one I chose for the tattooed lizards, animals very similar to velociraptors, something that filled me with consonant ideas about the beings hiding in Sothoryos, since in fact, many of the descriptions of those beasts that Micaela found there had similarities with the prehistoric dinosaurs of my world.
These tattooed lizards were large, three meters tall, and five meters long, making them look extremely imposing, especially thanks to their skin, which was striped with strange patterns of green, brown, and violet colors. That, along with its strong jaw full of sharp teeth and dangerous claws from its two legs, presented a challenge to anyone who dared to face it.
"There are many more of these creatures in those jungles, Your Majesty," Micaela told me as I was about to go set up the creature generators to maintain a food source for the lizards.
"Unfortunately, we couldn't bring in anymore; the ships no longer had room, and we were having a lot of setbacks with the tribes and villages there." When I finished setting up the last generator, I focused on her.
"It's only a lack of time we need; when the Tech Ministry builds a fleet large enough to encompass everything we need, you, General, will lead the expeditions to Sothoryos and the Valyria peninsula," I told her firmly, getting a satisfied smile from her; apparently, the idea of becoming a scout for Xandar appealed to her.
Micaela bowed. "Then I shall quite look forward to that date, Your Majesty."
Motioning for her to follow me, I began to walk. "Walk with me; tell me about these tribes you found in Sothoryos."
Micaela was thoughtful for a while, perhaps remembering her time at Wyvern Point. "They are intelligent; that's how they introduced themselves; they use weapons like bows, spears, and clubs, though that's not what's surprising about them, they control the wildlife of Sothoryos to some degree; there were times when the very branches of trees took it upon themselves to dismember members of my squad."
That was surprising; whether they did it with the help of supernatural powers, which in this world was not lacking, or it was just the jungle itself helping them, whatever it was, it was something that deserved further investigation.
"The Ministry of Technology will soon be in charge of building fleets," I said. At the same time, I watched as a man brought a small chest into his hand and passed it to me. "One of those fleets will come under your jurisdiction, a fleet of twenty ships, with a crew of twenty thousand people. Under your charge will be the power to take possession of the secrets that those tribes keep hidden in those jungles."
Micaela became serious, finding her duty of utmost importance: "I will do it, your Majesty, even if I have to raze them all to the ground to wrest their secrets from their corpses".
I just stood still, looking at her ferocity in accepting my order, though, in the end, she made me smile. "Let's hope we don't have to go to such extremes," I told her by way of humor, though there was a warning inscribed in my words.
"This is yours, for the services you have given to the Kingdom," I said, handing her the small chest the young man from before had given me, watching as Micaela opened it and was surprised by its contents.
"Your Majesty, I cannot accept this; excuse me," she wanted to deny my gift, only for me to refuse, "This is yours; hopefully you will never have to use it".
Micaela nodded, pulling a totem of immortality from the small chest, staring fascinated at the strange glowing artifact, which brought a chain of netherite. "I will treasure it, Your Majesty," said Micaela, putting the totem around her neck. Then bowing.
"There is no need for so much decorum," I commented with a kindly countenance, while I saw in an enclosure the beast that Micaela had given as a gift. "It is a good specimen," I commented, watching the strong animal eating the leaves of some bushes.
"Yes, Your Majesty, it put up quite a fight to avoid being caught," Micaela considered, looking at the over-two-meter-tall, red-furred beast.
"Your Majesty," I heard my name called, seeing Gallio standing off to the side, with three guards around a fat and slightly effeminate man.' so you're Varys' I thought as I looked at the man.
Varys looked younger than shown in the series, with his shaved head and calculating eyes, along with a serene and calm countenance despite being a captive at the moment.
Months ago, I had a meeting with all the witches, in which I gave them information about the possible dangers this world offered, such as beings in the shadowlands, the others, the white walkers, and even the characters with real power that I remembered.
Among the latter list were many players in the Game of Thrones, especially the man who now stood before me, Varys, a man who rose among society after being on the lowest rung, gaining power, riches, and enormous pleasures, all with the power of information.
So it was that I stipulated one of the most pressing and important measures, and that was to always keep an eye on Xandar in case one of these sleeping dangers appeared, and lo and behold, the first one appeared at my gates.
"Micaela," I said in a whisper, to which she understood and, after bowing to me, disappeared into thin air.
For my part, I was fascinated by Varys' countenance, someone who, though he hated magic with all his being, managed to keep his thoughts, ideas, and feelings behind a blank face, even after witnessing such a display of magic done by Micaela.
"Varys, will you walk with me?" I said, seeing that he understood very well that it was not a request, but a command, "Of course, Your Majesty, how could I refuse to walk beside the king of Xandar himself?" He replied with an elegant smile, though it did not reach his eyes.
Soon, we found ourselves walking among the paths of the zoo, admiring the various creatures that Micaela had brought. Varys was walking to the left of me, followed closely by three of my riders, as the others were either at Amanda's Academy or at the Horde Abbey, the large urban settlement that was near the great stable, a place now occupied by all those Dothraki brought from Vaes Dothrak.
"So tell me, Varys, did you like Xandar?" I asked lightly, as I was eating a fruit salad with condensed milk, which was a delight, especially when the taste of the syrupy milk clashed with the sour taste of the strawberries.
"The experience was enlightening, Your Majesty. I admire what you have built from scratch—a city very different from those I know, but for that reason, also beautiful and unique." Yes, this was the Varys I knew—a man wise in speech, able to entangle almost anyone with the gift of his tongue.
"I sense a but coming, don't you?" I said, to which Varys nodded without hesitation, "Your city has bizarre rules, made perhaps to diminish and control the arrival of outsiders to the city—I would say, a unique and fantastic measure, especially because with that, you protect your interests, although, in the long run, that measure would be counterproductive."
I decided to play along, inclined to know what else he thought, "counterproductive? Enlighten me."
"There will come a day when merchants and traders will no longer be attracted to your city thanks to such measures; they will feel the prize would not be worth the long journey."
"Varys, what you don't know, is that they will, they will grovel as long as I allow them passage to Xandar; perhaps you can see for yourself, even join in the fun."
Varys blinked, interested in the last part I said and ready to take the bait. He asked, "Join me? I wouldn't think you would want me, a eunuch, to be at your services, knowing the fact that you already possess capable hands," he commented the last part as he averted his gaze and watched the unsullied standing in strategic parts.
"Well, that's how it is. I want you to work for me, be loyal to me; make me your number one priority," I told him with a modest smile. He noticed that his demeanor was beginning to change.
"Your Majesty, you would gain nothing from me; I have no support, I have no power, I have nothing" Varys answered me with a pitiful look, as if he truly believed himself to possess nothing in this world.
"You are an excellent player, Varys; I grant you that, just as I grant you this." I offered him a potion, seeing how he hesitated to take it, and knowing his history with magic, it was no surprise.
"They are called potions; they possess many effects. That one I am offering you will help you become one again; you just have to take it and drink it." I told him, still holding out the potion.
Varys thought about it, but either because of his curiosity or because he saw no other way forward, he decided to take the potion I was offering him, removed the cork, and drank it.
I wished I had a camera, to record his face at the moment the potion took effect, to consider in how he rested his left hand on his crotch.
"See, those are the benefits of swearing allegiance to me, I reward my followers in good faith, you just saw it yourself, think about it, you'll have the rest of the day to make a decision," I told him, then indicated to the unsullied who had brought him to escort him to the room where he was staying. While I continued admiring my beautiful animals.
