JULIAN OLIVAREZ
I was somewhere, couldn't look around in search as it was blindingly bright. The amount of light there was extreme and raw;it could make any human's eyes bleed.
I couldn't even squint to scan where I was at the moment.
The, I was somewhere enveloped in utter darkness. It was so dark that no one could make out shadows from objects. It's almostt like everything was made from obsidian. Not a movement heard nor a sound heard.
"There's always more to what the eyes can see. But what would you do when your eyes can't see anything?" A gentle feminine voice asked.
I did what I always did whenever I needed balance in my life, meditation.
I shut my eyes and concentrated on my breathing, organizing my thoughts so that I could have my emotions and senses aligned.
'In... hold...out'
I kept on breathing until something snapped. Now I could hear movements of organisms small and big. I could hear heartbeats and the wind. Soon, the sound of the ocean waves entered into the mix.
With my eyes still closed,I could now see what was lacking in the first scenarios that were splayed before me earlier;balance and harmony.
One can not see or live in too much darkness or too much light, but could live with both.
I opened my eyes and now I was in front of the sea. I have never been here before, but this part of the sea, instead of the usual sandy shore, this one had rocky ones. And there on the rocks I sat, legs criss-cross like a Buddhist.
"What am I doing here?" I asked no one in particular.
"I invited you here,my child. There's something I need to inform you;as it's time." The sweet feminine voice from earlier said.
"Time for what? Where am I?" I asked this person who was invisible but somehow had a clear voice.
"What you're looking at is your future home. You found your fated one my child, and he shall be your home henceforth." A beautiful, youthful looking lady with long silver hair, grey eyes, and dark skin with goddess build appeared from my right hand side;taking steady strides towards me. Her hair flailed in the direction of the sea breeze, making her look ethereal. She blessed me with her gorgeous smile, one filled with uncanny fondness. And when she got closer enough, she joined me on the rock I was seated on,covering me with her rich aura.
"You look so... Devine?!" I complimented her. I found that even the word Devine was doing her injustice, she was more than words could describe.
"Thanks,my boy." She chuckled and returned her attention to the view before us. "I am Xéna"*pronounced Zeh-na . She introduced herself.
I was still awestruck by her beauty. I almost missed her name when she said it. "I'm Julia --"
"I know my child. I know who you are. You don't need to introduce yourself to me." She cut me off abruptly. I couldn't even let myself get offended;she was so beautiful beyond I could comprehend.
"Why do you keep addressing me as my child." I asked.
She chuckled but replied to me anyway; "It's because I'm way older than you or anyone alive. Even older than your mate and his ancestors." I only gave her a blank look to show her that I don't understand what she's talking about. By the looks of it,she looks like she's middle-aged,with the appearance of wrinkles only when she's smiling. And the rest of her statement I did not comprehend.
"I am Xéna,an angel responsible for all water bodies on earth and their dwellers;big and small. Most of them call me goddess of the sea, but I'm more than that." She turned to look at me. "You Julian are a descendant of one of my very strong and loyal believers among the land people. Your birth and existence were foretold, and the tests you've been receiving in your dreams over the years were to prove you were the one. You have faith that can separate darkness from light. Your faith can cause an uproar in heaven and earth if you so wished for it. And now your time has arrived." She paused, looked me in the eyes, and took both of my arms in her own velvety ones. "You must use your faith to protect both the people of the sea and those of the land. If you misuse your power, there could be an apocalypse for all creatures that dwell on earth. But if you use your power positively, you will be able to save it from the war that is yet to come. Always choose wisely, and make sure to listen to your higher self . And if you do as told, you will be able to make a good home for your children and descendants." She then placed her hand on my abdomen.
"An Angel?!" I still could not believe my ears.
"We dont have so much time left, my dear one, I'll leave you to ponder about my instructions. Now,return to your fated one." She said before disappearing into thin air.
I followed the sound of the breeze back to reality. Upon opening my eyelids,I almost wished I had not. It was so bright, probably later in the afternoon as the sun was high in the sky. There was surprisingly no snowfall today, you could think it was the beginning of spring, but I knew better.
I tried to move and sit up but couldn't because someone had wrapped their big, long legs around my own and held me in his arms. I relaxed and listened to the sound of his heartbeat and deep breaths while having a recollection of my dream that felt so real.
I couldn't help it but more questions kept on developing the more I thought about it. Questions that needed answers that only that angel could answer. "I will ask her next time we meet." I mumbled under my breath, not wanting to wake up the sleeping hunk in my bed.
But what did she mean by touching my abdomen? Or when she said I could lead to the end of earth? How would I even be able to do that? I'm powerless. Maybe she holds extremely high expectations in me, but, really?!
"What's gotten you so unsettled this morning?" My boyfriend's deep, raspy voice echoed.
I couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face when he pulled me e ven closer to his chest.
"Nothing serious. It's just one of those dreams, I guess." I tried to brush it off, but I just couldn't.
It felt so real.
"What was it about?" Adrien asked.
I was silent for a while, asking myself if it was safe to tell him or not to. But she said I had found my fated one;was it Adrien she meant?
"You know,it's okay if you don't want to share. But it would be better if you discussed what's bothering you with me." Adrien continued.
Sigh
"Do you believe in Angels or gods and goddesses?" I started. My reply would be influenced by his opinion on this matter. You can't discuss spiritual matters with staunch religious people.
"I do.… What has this got to do with your dream?" I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. This means that he won't think that I have lost my mind.
"Well…" I had to first take a deep breath, "I saw one in my dream. She said she was the goddess of the sea."
"What?!" Adrien seemed so shocked; like he wasn't expecting it. He recomposed himself and continued;this time calmly. "Are you sure it was a goddess?I mean, why would a goddess, especially one of the sea visit you?"
"She said her name is Xéna and she is an angel, though people call her goddess of the sea." I think I felt Adrien become stiff at the mention of her name, but I still disregarded it and resumed. "She was here to tell me that the time had arrived and that I was ready."
"She told you that?!" Adrien asked once more. More like to double check whether he was hearing things right;and yes,he was.
I tried moving so that I could face him, but the sting in my butt halted my movements. I hissed as the pain shot up my spine. When Adrien noticed what was going on,he jumped over me and lay in front of me so that I didn't have to turn around to face him.
"I'm sorry, sweetie." He whispered while massaging my lower back with one hand while another playfully caressed my scalp.
A tear rolled down my eyes. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by joy at the gesture. Never in my life had I ever imagined that I would be having such a partner who loved ,cherished, and cared about me like Adrien.
"Now, C'mon babe, don't cry now. You just turned thirty,we should be jubilating, not crying." I laughed at his attempt at comforting me. "Now,that's more like it." He hugged me tight.
"By the way,Adrien. Why does it feel like you have an idea about the dream I had? You're not even reacting like someone who is surprised." Adrien seemed to have been taken back by my question, but he should be.I mean, anyone without knowledge or idea of what was going on would be asking a lot of questions or at least be shocked something like that happened. Even I always get confused whenever I have premonitions or something similar to what I had last night.
"I need some more time, baby. I will tell you everything when I'm ready. For now, please,I need you to give me more details of your dream."
That still doesn't answer my question, but I wasn't gonna start an argument first thing in the morning. My guts told me to trust him, and so I did as he asked.
I retold my dream or rather revelation, paying attention to details down to the T and Adrien on the other hand, paying attention to every word I said without a single interruption.
"If Xéna came to you, it means that she has anointed you to be her chosen one. You have a duty to fulfill, and I am honored to be fighting by your side. I'll stay with you through it all." Adrien's face was beaming with what looked like pride. That look is barely directed towards me, but I know it too well for I always observe when others are receiving it.
Adrien kissed my temple and hugged me close to his broad chest, and then whispered in a shaky voice. "I will explain everything to you, my love. I promise, just give me some more time."
"I will. I hope you will help me find the answers to the several questions I have." I whispered back.
"How about we get out of bed now! It's already two o'clock, aren't you hungry?" Adrien tried to lighten the mood.
"You have to help me get up,I'm still sore. Also, I just woke up. I can't put anything in my stomach right now."
"Okay,no problem, my love." Adrien rose up from the sheets and stood by the bedside, naked, and offered me his hand. That was when I realized that I was also naked, not even an undergarment on my body.
I felt a rush of heat rising from my neck, slowly spreading to the cheeks and ears from the embarrassment I was feeling. "Have you never heard of the word underwear?" I forced myself to look away, still unable to fathom how his cock managed to fit me perfectly.
