Kyra dismounted from Lucas back and approached the edge. As she got closer, she could clearly see that the water level had indeed risen.
Lucas shifted into beastmen and exclaimed, "No way! There's no other way than this bridge to the tribe, and the alternative route is too long, we'd have to pass through six tribes,"
Kyra pondered for a moment, then asked, "Can't we try going to a nearby tribe instead?"
With a sigh, Lucas rolled his eyes and replied, "We don't have a choice. Let's head to the nearby tribe, but hold on tight because we'll have to cross a forest to get there." Kyra nodded in agreement.
Lucas shifted once again, and Kyra settled herself comfortably on his back. He wasted no time and began running.
As they went deeper into the forest, Kyra's heartbeat quickened.
The trees seemed taller than usual, casting eerie shadows in the darkness.
The sound of rain added to the creepy atmosphere.
This forest was unlike anything Kyra had ever seen before. In her world, there were only a handful of forests, considering the advanced development even she herself partook in... her thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a broken tree up ahead.
Lucas growled and glanced back, meeting his reassuring eyes. Kyra gripped him tightly as he leaped high into the air. She closed her eyes tightly in fear, only opening them when they landed safely.
That was-
Just Amazing...
Kyra couldn't help but notice that Lucas was much larger than an ordinary wolf, and his thick silver coat of fur was indeed very thick.
In the midst of the heavy rain, memories flooded Kyra's mind. She recalled how Lucas interacted with everyone around him.
"Grrrrr..."
"Grrrrrr..."
"Grrr...." Growls echoed around them as Lucas abruptly halted. A group of gray wolves had surrounded them.
Lucas expression changed; these were feral gray wolves who couldn't shift into beastmen like he could.
"Grrrr...." The gray wolves growled, displaying their menacing canines.
Lucas let out a mighty roar, radiating power that was impossible to ignore. The gray wolves hesitated, but their pride prevented them from admitting defeat.
Lucas wasn't afraid for himself, but rather for Kyra. He knew that if he fought, the wolves would attack her, given their larger numbers.
He glanced back at Kyra, and she understood his unspoken request. She stepped aside, giving him room to defend himself.
"GRRRRR....." Lucas roared, his claws growing larger, and his eyes becoming even more intense and sharper.
The gray wolves closed in on Lucas, circling him slowly.
SWISH---
Lucas deftly dodged an attack, slashing one of the wolves with his sharp claws, causing it to fall to the ground.
"Grrrr...." One by one, the other wolves began their assault.
Lucas started attacking swiftly. He had strong combat power; he wasn't just a warrior of the Silver Wolf Tribe in name only.
However, in a moment of distraction, Lucas failed to notice one of the fallen wolves getting back on its feet and charging towards Kyra, who had been watching from behind a tree.
Lucas, sensing the danger, swiftly kicked away the wolf attacking him and sprinted towards Kyra.
"Grrrrr...."
But it was too late. The gray wolf lunged at Kyra, intent on attacking her.
In the blink of an eye, something extraordinary happened. The wolf was forcefully thrown backward, losing consciousness in an instant.
Lucas's eyes widened.
