"How illogical, how can this happen to us!"
"Karma, maybe?"
Moving forward on a highly muddy dirt road that has become almost impassable due to the rain. Asahiko throws a few words to the sky while expertly maneuvering his horse so that it doesn't get stuck in some muddy mess.
"Ump, let mother nature know that I will not give in to her!"
"So, I leave you with your challenge against her"
Finishing her words, Saya re-enters Clouded Fang's pod and leaves poor Asahiko's face blank. Asahiko simply shrugs his shoulders at that very moment, as if he is used to these precisely timed retreats on Saya's part.
Christopher/Asahiko pov.
After advancing on my noble steed and whoever says he is not noble is going to get a beating, I arrive at a ramshackle temple on the side of the main road. It was quite spacious for being in the middle of nowhere and even had a porch, although it certainly doesn't look safe at all and I'm not saying that because of its structure full of cracks, blue tiles on its roof that seem to be falling apart or because of the weeds that seem to want to devour it... well who am I kidding, it's obviously because of all the aforementioned.
"Hello~ sorry for the intrusion~ there's someone here~"
Speaking all three times enthusiastically and lengthening the sentences just because, I opened the door and entered the structure that looks like it hasn't been stepped on by humans in a few years. The entire floor was worn down by the passage of time, while on the walls you could see the cracks running through the building and most striking of all is a huge Buddha statue made of copper or perhaps dipped in this metal.
"Looks like we'll be spending tonight together, now I'm going to tie up that horse."
Conversing with the Buddha statue who obviously doesn't respond to me, I go outside, before locating my trusty steed and tie him under the porch to rest, otherwise what would be the point of spending the night here.
"Okay, all set. Umm, I guess I'll practice a bit and then go to the ground... yeah, I wouldn't have to be so used to sleeping on the ground, haaa damn life."
With a sigh of resignation, I take out my fan, then I cover it with my flames and those flames I divide into different portions. Some take the shape of cubes, others are spheres, there is even a pyramid, the only thing they have in common is that they are all geometrically imprecise.
So far so good, let's ignore the flaws in the dimensions that make up my geometric figures. Now it was time for the real important step and what I have been struggling with for a few days.
"How will I know it's little, if I can't feel it's little. I can only let it go from one to a hundred and then I start to feel the energy expenditure".
My flames get stronger the more energy I give them, the situation is that I don't know how much is too much energy and how much is too little. Basically they go from one to one hundred instantly, making me unable to feel from two to ninety-nine... Simply put, if I shape them I can't increase their power because of how unstable it is, while if I let them free I can't control their area of effect and collateral damage... AhAhggg. How complicated!
Some time later...
"Dodge!"
Without hesitating at Saya's words and even with the sluggishness of sleep above, I had to have avoided getting entangled with thoughts about my flames, hit the ground with one hand causing my own strength to expel me to the right. Finishing that action, I crossed my arms in front of me in a defensive pose, thus managing to resist the follow-up blow coming at full speed.
*Boom!
His punch sent me through the temple wall and after going through a few trees, I'm finally stopped by a particularly thick one a good distance away from the temple.
"I ended up getting wet anyway, Saya, do you know what that thing is?"
"It must be a statue possessed by the spirit of some weak yokai, normally this method of hunting is too slow to be of interest to those with sufficient power."
"Still, because I couldn't sense its presence or smell its scent?"
Leaving that question floating in the air for Saya to answer, I lifted my body that was leaning against the tree and stretched my limbs causing them to let out a slight noise as I let out a yawn.
"It was probably in a dormant state while waiting for its prey to come to the door."
"Okay, enough explanation."
With my curiosity completely satiated thanks to Saya and her vast experience, I take a strong step on the ground causing me to shoot off in the direction of the temple. Arriving in a few moments and feeling the wet clothes due to the rain, he watched as a bronze colored hand reached out from inside the temple, before he completely pulled down the wall, getting his body at last out of the temple.
"Hehehehehehehehehe."
"Oh, nice stalker laugh you got there."
Scoffing at his weird laugh coming from nowhere, as the statue's face shows no change in its expression that can be linked to the noise, I pull out my fan and give a downward slash in the air towards his direction. It was like cutting butter with a hot knife, though I may have put too much power into it, due to the fact that those two silver-haired ones can always withstand my blows... YES, I seem to have a slight trauma with my flames not working.
"Can you get it over with?"
"Tsh, fine. Don't look at me like that, I just need to confirm that my flames are still working."
Talking to Saya who just came out of Cloudy Fang, she looked towards the poor statue that is cut into multiple pieces, before gathering a ball of flames in front of my fan and threw it towards her giving her an end to this situation.
