Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Mere thoughts

Different shades of orange are painted with the sky as a canvas, but this does not mean that it is dusk, but quite the opposite, that is to say the dawn, the beginning of a new day and history.

Brief gusts of cold and damp winds, classic of the mornings, manage to make the trees nearby dance with the wind, while their leaves fall in a beautiful dance that attracts people's attention in a magnetic way.

"You are awake."

"I think I'm still dreaming."

Letting out a few words out of pure instinct, though more likely he only said them to get a reaction out of Kikyo and that small smile that takes shape on Asahiko's face completely confirms it.

"Looks like you're okay."

Finishing speaking and giving no importance to Asahiko's words, Kikyo holds her hair that moves freely in the wind with one hand, then pulls out a red ribbon from somewhere mysterious and tries to tie her hair, though feeling Asahiko's piercing gaze she stops herself before speaking.

"What 's wrong?"

"I already missed your short dialogues with few emotional ups and downs. Now then... Let me handle it."

Increasing the size of her smile, though it now seems much more real than before, Asahiko slowly speaks to Kikyo, before pausing and tucking one of her tails under her chin in thought. Finishing whatever he was thinking, Asahiko gets up from where he had been lying all night, then walks quickly over to Kikyo and gently rests his hands on Kikyo's shoulders.

"Come on, come on, don't look at me like that, I just want to help. On the other hand, I think there are things you wish to ask me and you don't want to make it look like an interrogation... Then here's the best option!

Putting a little force into her hands, but being insufficient to make it uncomfortable and solely for the purpose of signaling that she should take a seat. Asahiko waits until Kikyo rests her body nearby, before taking a place behind her and holds out her hand asking her to hand over the red ribbon she holds in her hand.

"Good, now I can begin."

Moving her hands in an expert manner that oozes delicacy and continued practice, Asahiko begins to hum a song as she transforms the ribbon given by Kikyo into a beautiful comb with which to work on her hair.

"Have you ever done this before?"

Pausing momentarily and seeming to fall into some old memories, Asahiko's eyes sparkle for a few moments, before a smile grows on her face.

"Yeah, let's just say I... I was helping one of my relatives tidy up his hair, hahaha I remember it got to a point where he was watching me like I was a weirdo with tastes for long hair."

"So she wasn't right?"

Letting go of the comb for a few seconds and having one of her tails hold it, Asahiko guides her hand to her chin before a smile grows on her face and she nods her head as she seems to fall into even deeper memories than before.

"She was absolutely right about me having a taste for long hair, I even went so far as to grow my hair out of control... Though let's just say it had more bad than good and then I had to cut it down to the current length."

Finishing her words with a rather light laugh, Asahiko picks up the comb again and starts humming a song as she waits for Kikyo's next question.

"You were with... E... Them."

"I assume you meant him, but who am I to opine? Well, as an answer to your question is a resounding yes. After your exit from the scene while you were laughing at Inuyasha all over the place, I had to follow my other plan which was aimed at getting a weapon that won't hurt me every time I use it."

Ignoring the ups and downs in the tone of voice coming from Kikyo, Asahiko speaks calmly and holds out her injured hand in front of Kikyo's face as she calls her words to a close.

"It was a fun adventure with Inuyasha trying to kill me about twice due to his jealousy, hell I think even that ship didn't sail yet, if you know what I mean. We also got into a fight with his white-haired brother who knows how to make some good entrances on stage and his group of escorts are some of the most varied."

"Shippo making his childish jokes, Miroku the monk who I'm still wondering if he's wise or not, Sango who watched me like I was a piece of meat, I even got to remember our first meeting and how your gaze seemed to want to cut me into pieces... Haaa... What good memories."

Taking a deep breath and calming the excitement that was bubbling up, Asahiko begins to arrange Kikyo's hair in different styles, though none of them seem to convince him and it shows in their tails rubbing against each other as if they were thinking too.

"By the way, dawn is breaking and most likely other people will start coming around looking for you to heal them, now is not the time to beat around the bush."

"What do they think of Kagome?"

Lifting her face and enjoying the breeze that caresses it, Kikyo lets out what was hovering in her mind and apparently Asahiko was already expecting this, due to the fact that she never mentions Kagome.

"In short like a sun, it is radiant, people feel at ease around it and everyone loves it, even more so if you have never felt the real warmth."

"Apparently you know something or maybe it's an opinion you had said you didn't have."

"Auch, how cutting are your words. Of course I still stand by my thoughts about not being able to judge this situation, even after hearing his side of the story and yours... Though that doesn't stop my thoughts from being slightly affected after getting the full picture and that is reflected in my current words"

Making it clear that she has no particular opinion on the relationship between Kikyo and Inuyasha, Asahiko explains that those words were unconsciously selected after getting the full information from either Kikyo's side or Inuyasha's side on how their relationship ended disastrously.
